Episode 3: Arranging & recording the demo (Pt 1): I finished writing a song. Yay! Time for a celebration. But a short one. Because I never feel like it’s done until I’ve sent it to a “real” musician (who actually knows what they’re doing) and they get their hands on it. When I first started writing, it was my brilliant friends James & Andie. These days it’s my equally brilliant friend, Brett. I’ve sent many a song to Brett, who’s worked his magic (like James and Andie before him). But the more I write, the more I want to be a part of the song’s sound and feel. Each song makes me slightly more (though usually incorrectly) confident that I can do it. After my normal procrastination, I got to work. So stay tuned for more fun times, and by that, I mean more moments of me torturing myself as I try. May you enjoy my torment.

The Journey to CHOOSE ME project:
Why do we create? Who is it for? Should we let outside opinions influence the work? What the hell am I doing? No, seriously, what the hell am I doing with my life? These are questions that constantly plague me when I’m working on a creative project of any kind.
Last year (and earlier this year) I released some of my music and the songs didn’t get the response I was hoping for. They weren’t “successful”. Needless to say, I had a lot feelings about it. So, I did what helps me most and started writing about it. I then decided I would document the process, from the writing and arranging, to the recording and its upcoming release.
“The Journey to CHOOSE ME” is that documentation. I will share one episode every Wednesday leading up to the release of my new single “Choose Me”. I don’t know if I figured anything out during the process, because I feel like I'm still in it, but I’ll leave that for you to decide.
So if you ever wanted to know what it’s like being a creator (and/or in my head, though sometimes that’s a scary place, so beware), this is for you. It’s raw and vulnerable (hello, no make up) but hopefully it’s funny too. I’m nervous and excited to share it, but it's time to do just that. Hope you join me on the journey, and enjoy! More to come.
