Prayers that it isn’t a new predator. I’ve not seen Ernie that alert, in a long time. (If ever.) Pig Trudy is making me think predator, also. I’m hoping it was just the scare from the storm. I didn’t like how both Annie and Trudy were looking towards the same area and Trudy having her hair standing up is a definite warning sign. I hope there’s not a predator in the area. Stay vigilant. Annie and Indie will be back to normal with you again, I’m sure. She totally trusts you. Have a great day!!❤️❤️
That was my first thought! "PREDATOR" I pray it's not because, I love them! A predator would have been freaking from a bad storm like that too! I would definitely be on the lookout! 👀 I would maybe even get Jake to set some traps or hunting cameras up!
Jami, try keeping a storm diary and see if this happens again. Barometric pressure always had an effect on my dog, who was terribly frightened by the noises of thunder and lightening. I hope you can figure something out. I love seeing this baby💖
That barametric pressure is real! In people it causes headaches, body aches especially if over 50 and have arrthritis. Some dogs totally freak out during storms too! Love that sweet baby. She’s beautiful! Annie is such a good Mommy❤️

I’m sure the animals are accustomed to the noises of the farm. That nasty storm probably didn’t help but with the ostriches at LHL the predators may be getting braver and approaching closer to your pastures. Anyone that has an animal know that when an animal raises the hair on their backs there is trouble.
That storm had to have been terrifying. I'm glad they had shelter to get under, but like Jami said it was probably awfully loud in there with the hail. I wonder if they are afraid it will come back. After a while they'll settle down, I'm sure.

I remember in early 1998, my partner (ex) and I had just moved across country and were staying with his parents while we found a place to live. An extreme ice storm happened in January across the north east part of both our countries. Days after when it started to warm up, the cracking of the ice on their metal roof was scary. It started happening in the middle of the night, and the metal sounds just echoed through out the upstairs. And with Lester using the saw in one of the barns, it was also echoing in there. I think animals are much more sensitive and aware of sounds. We block out more noise then we should.
I hope everything is going to be okay. It seems Annie and Trudy both are seeing or sensing something. Let’s pray that it was just the storm and nothing worse.
I'm not so sure it was the storm. They seem to me to be acting more like a predator is around or was around. Maybe a predator got confused in the storm & ended up nearby?
Lester did find evidence of an attacked Guinea recently so maybe there’s a predator around. Poor Annie already has so much to do with Indy and now she’s gotta be extra alert. Such a good momma!
Animal's do not like storms!!! Also Jami a lot of people don't even realize that before and after a storm that animals coats/fur will hold static, and when it's about to storm it makes them get a shock feeling through their coats..I know you can't catch her to put something on her..I have to use unscented dryer sheets on my lab she goes nuts if I don't. It takes the static out of her coat..not sure if you can get anything in spray form or not that you could somehow get it on them ..just seeing if you were aware of this or not...she is a doll..love her..
Ok. I didn't know this. I will have to try the dryer sheets on our husky & cat. The cat hides under the bathroom sink & the husky barks hysterically. If she goes outside she runs back & forth barking at the sky.

Good morning Jami. Awe that is so sad that there is a change of some sort that has spooked Annie, Ernie, and Indie. You said Pig Trudy's hair was standing on edge. Could a strange predator type animal, wolf, coyote, bobcat, cougar had come thru during the storm trying to get back to it's young ones or home that has them spooked. One that didn't completely stop in their area but come close enough to alert everyone? Hope things later on today or tonight Annie will let you come closer again. Thanks for sharing.
I wondered if maybe the storms send more predators out of the woods or maybe some of those neighborhood dogs were out during the storm running around. She may have been upset that the pigs were not with her in the barn. She is used to being the protector and if she didn’t know everyone was ok that may have made it worse for her, on top of being a new mama. She probably wanted Jami to open the gates so she could go make sure the other pastures were safe. Predators that are used to her being close by may see this as an opportunity to attack feathered babies or maybe even a pig.
I'm really praying that it's not a predator in the woods waiting for it to get dark out before it goes into the pasture. If I could I would be out there spending the night's till everyone gets back to normal. Keep us posted Jami 🙏🙏
I wouldn’t take it personally Jami I think, taking into consideration all the other animals, that there must be a predator about!! Especially after lester finding those feathers the other day as if something was dragged through the fence. Maybe time for the traps to be put out again 🥰🥰
Their ears are probably ringing from the loud noise so they're scared and disoriented. Hopefully it will pass soon. Would it be possible or financially feasible to somehow insulate the ceiling of the barn so that in future the sound of heavy rain and/or hail might be lessened? I looked on-line and one article showed spray-foam being used. The webpage I looked at was called Dream Roof.
Yes, Jason & Mrs Coghill did that same thing in their new barndominium that they just built. That's not that expensive i don't think, but it would be wise to put a lining on the inside of the barn, so if any fell off later the animals can't eat it.
Have to wonder if there is a predator of some kind there with Trudy’s hair standing up & the Guinea feathers Lester found. Maybe a fox? I love how protective Annie & Ernie are both being with Indie. Hope they all have settled down. Heidi had her hackles up & was running around the pasture in PawPaw’s video, too. He said she smelled something & took off.
That is scary cause Heidi knows the farm and what is out there. Temporarily, I would want to bring all animals inside. Yes, inside and cuddled up. I know, I know, can never happen but my brain is thinking it.
Annie definitely smelling something from the direction she and also Trudy was looking. Hopefully it's just something passing and Annie who is a great protector is doing her thing and starting to pass her great protector behavior to her little one. Indie is adorable. 💜 //C~🇸🇪

Jami, I believe that the hail storm scared all of them however I also have a feeling that there might be a predator out there. Between the bird feathers that Lester found the other day, pig Trudy’s hair standing up and Annie and Ernie acting like they were makes me believe that there is a predator out there. I also believe that Annie still trusts you it’s just that she is on a super high alert between the hail storm, the intensity of the sound of hail hitting the tin roof on barn, a possible predator, and that she is first time mom on top of it all. Praying for all things to be well again between you, Annie and sweet Indy. ❤

Hey Jami, how bad was the lighting in that storm?? As a child I remember a bad storm and lightning was beyond Belief. It struck a tree in the yard and I could feel it in my feet. 😳. Just saying. Praying things get back to normal. Have a blessed day. 🤗
Why do these barns just have meta?l why can't they insulate them to keep them cooler and warmer in the conditions, it makes no sense to me. Metal picks up the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter I don't get it 😳 we had a barn built from wood and it kept everything very cozy and warm and cooler in the summer it was insulated maybe it's too expensive there. I don't understand the metal sheets at all.
Could it have been the hail pounding on the metal roof for that hour? Isn’t there something that can be put on the inside roof to muffle that pounding sound like styrofoam or? The inside of that barn is totally empty so it is hollow and loud. My guess! Indie is so precious and cute❤️

Animals do feed off of our energy ,when we're nervous or stressed they pick it up and lately I've been noticing Lester and Jamie have been more on edge lately probably because they put too much on their plate at once. they need to slow down. It seems they're trying to finish everything at once, that never ends well, 😏 be careful you don't want to burn and crash.

theres been a barometric drop in texas and that will bring out predators such as coyote and bob cat to feed, also the rain and hail could have fire ants swarming which would be increasing annies anxiety levels. if she sees you and lester patrolling the perimeter beyond her pasture it might help a little but i would hope once the air pressure returns to normal she should settle

Indie is so cute with her little smile. She is a combination of the beauty of both her mum and dad. She has her mums face and I think strength too. A lil treasure. I wake up waiting to see her. I agree! I just have this feeling that it's something else. Annie has been through storms before and didn't act like this. She keeps looking out towards the woods and then, Pig Trudy with her hair standing up?! They are in high alert mode! I wish Carl was here right now. He's a force to be reckoned with and would take care of business in protecting the others, but I know he's where he belongs at LHL's!

Jami, Some animals are very frightened by thunder and rain. My dog would borough herself in the closet. My other dog would shake and have accidents on the floor. I think that they sense the drop of air pressure and can feel a storm is coming. Hopefully all will be fine today. You just sitting by them gave them comfort. You are a great Momma. ❤
You can definitely see and Annie's demeanor has changed since yesterday. That plus the way she is on high alert sure makes you think there is something very wrong. It must have been a super bad storm to have her so scared maybe. But like you said pig Trudy's hair was standing up. How strange, I live in Germany and my animals have all been acting weird since yesterday. We also had storms and rain. My dog kept me awake all night panting. Maybe it is the static in the air. I pray for you that all calms down for you all
It could be there over filming and Annie and baby want more privacy, you guys out there every hour with the camera, animals sense when you're overly excited they don't like it. It's not just Jamie and Lester filming it's Jake and the others filming too it's overwhelming when she just had a new baby that's what I think.

I know my parrots are extra sensitive, especially my female. One of my sons dogs needs to be as far away, but also as close as possible to a human. My female parrot, the longer before I comfort her, the more stressed she is. After a small earthquake that I was not there for and not told she was panicking, I took her out of her cage and she wouldn’t let go of my fingers. It took hours to get her calmed down and put her back in the cage. I didn’t live there, moved out but due to weather and it was the beginning of Covid, my parrots stayed with my ex until the weather got better. Over two years later, she had a more needy than when I first took her into my home. Her previous owners couldn’t have her anymore. She feels abandoned when she doesn’t have a human near her.
My mom had a dog that ran under her bed during thunderstorms when she was a puppy. When that dog grew up she no longer fit under mom's bed, but she got as much of her head,neck, and front paws under as she could when it thundered.
It's so concerning that they sense a threat. I hope Maggie and the other dogs are on alert, too, so they can warn. I worry about the Feathers and Pigs being out front. I'll say prayers for everyone's safety tonight.
I can relate to feeling bad for the animals during a bad storm. My poor dog does not like storms, and we’ve had quite a few here in the Tampa area too lately

Probably just the major storm and if it was the hail that probably scared the crap out of all of them. Maybe she can sense another storm coming. I think it just scared the crap out of them. Plus Lester doing something with the saw in the barn probably didn’t help either.
It probably is the project on top of the storm Jami. I think Annie was taking you on a tour of the pen. She was making sure you followed her. Maybe she wanted you to help protect Indie? Annie knows she can trust you. Indie is beautiful, like her mom!

Would it help putting an ostrich in with them. They are great protection for them...like guard dogs.

Yes, Jason & Mrs Coghill did that same thing in their new barndominium that they just built. That's not that expensive i don't think, but it would be wise to put a lining on the inside of the barn, so if any fell off later the animals can't eat it.
Have to wonder if there is a predator of some kind there with Trudy’s hair standing up & the Guinea feathers Lester found. Maybe a fox? I love how protective Annie & Ernie are both being with Indie. Hope they all have settled down. Heidi had her hackles up & was running around the pasture in PawPaw’s video, too. He said she smelled something & took off.

That is scary cause Heidi knows the farm and what is out there. Temporarily, I would want to bring all animals inside. Yes, inside and cuddled up. I know, I know, can never happen but my brain is thinking it.
Annie definitely smelling something from the direction she and also Trudy was looking.
Hopefully it's just something passing and Annie who is a great protector is doing her thing and starting to pass her great protector behavior to her little one.

Jami, I believe that the hail storm scared all of them however I also have a feeling that there might be a predator out there. Between the bird feathers that Lester found the other day, pig Trudy’s hair standing up and Annie and Ernie acting like they were makes me believe that there is a predator out there. I also believe that Annie still trusts you it’s just that she is on a super high alert between the hail storm, the intensity of the sound of hail hitting the tin roof on barn, a possible predator, and that she is first time mom on top of it all. Praying for all things to be well again between you, Annie and sweet Indy. ❤

Why do these barns just have meta?l why can't they insulate them to keep them cooler and warmer in the conditions, it makes no sense to me. Metal picks up the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter I don't get it 😳 we had a barn built from wood and it kept everything very cozy and warm and cooler in the summer it was insulated maybe it's too expensive there. I don't understand the metal sheets at all.
Could it have been the hail pounding on the metal roof for that hour? Isn’t there something that can be put on the inside roof to muffle that pounding sound like styrofoam or? The inside of that barn is totally empty so it is hollow and loud. My guess!

Animals do feed off of our energy ,when we're nervous or stressed they pick it up and lately I've been noticing Lester and Jamie have been more on edge lately probably because they put too much on their plate at once. they need to slow down. It seems they're trying to finish everything at once, that never ends well, 😏 be careful you don't want to burn and crash.
We had a dog who didn't like the rain on the metal roofing so we had to bring him in lol.

theres been a barometric drop in texas and that will bring out predators such as coyote and bob cat to feed, also the rain and hail could have fire ants swarming which would be increasing annies anxiety levels. if she sees you and lester patrolling the perimeter beyond her pasture it might help a little but i would hope once the air pressure returns to normal she should settle

I agree! I just have this feeling that it's something else. Annie has been through storms before and didn't act like this. Jami, Some animals are very frightened by thunder and rain. My dog would borough herself in the closet. My other dog would shake and have accidents on the floor. I think that they sense the drop of air pressure and can feel a storm is coming. Hopefully all will be fine today. You just sitting by them gave them comfort. You are a great Momma. ❤
You can definitely see and Annie's demeanor has changed since yesterday. That plus the way she is on high alert sure makes you think there is something very wrong. It must have been a super bad storm to have her so scared maybe. But like you said pig Trudy's hair was standing up. How strange, I live in Germany and my animals have all been acting weird since yesterday. We also had storms and rain. My dog kept me awake all night panting. Maybe it is the static in the air. I pray for you that all calms down for you all

It could be there over filming and Annie and baby want more privacy, you guys out there every hour with the camera, animals sense when you're overly excited they don't like it. It's not just Jamie and Lester filming it's Jake and the others filming too it's overwhelming when she just had a new baby that's what I think.

Jami you are one compassionate woman! I could listen to you all day. Thank you for being you. I had given up on a baby alpaca the day before Indie was born. I will never doubt you again. ❤️
I know my parrots are extra sensitive, especially my female. One of my sons dogs needs to be as far away, but also as close as possible to a human. My female parrot, the longer before I comfort her, the more stressed she is. After a small earthquake that I was not there for and not told she was panicking, I took her out of her cage and she wouldn’t let go of my fingers. It took hours to get her calmed down and put her back in the cage. I didn’t live there, moved out but due to weather and it was the beginning of Covid, my parrots stayed with my ex until the weather got better. Over two years later, she had a more needy than when I first took her into my home. Her previous owners couldn’t have her anymore. She feels abandoned when she doesn’t have a human near her.
My mom had a dog that ran under her bed during thunderstorms when she was a puppy. When that dog grew up she no longer fit under mom's bed, but she got as much of her head,neck, and front paws under as she could when it thundered.
It's so concerning that they sense a threat. I hope Maggie and the other dogs are on alert, too, so they can warn. I worry about the Feathers and Pigs being out front. I'll say prayers for everyone's safety tonight.
I can relate to feeling bad for the animals during a bad storm. My poor dog does not like storms, and we’ve had quite a few here in the Tampa area too lately

However, I truly don't think it has anything to do with you or Lester. The loud projects might not be a good idea right now haha. Probably just the major storm and if it was the hail that probably scared the crap out of all of them. Maybe she can sense another storm coming. I think it just scared the crap out of them. Plus Lester doing something with the saw in the barn probably didn’t help either.

I agree the hail sound is probably not a very well known sound to her in the metal barn being such an infrequent event and being a new mom, she will calm with time
