I just bought that set today. I have a full toolbox at work but I needed tools for home (car maintenance, and other misc) can’t wait to start using it!
I have double hex Snap On sockets from years gone by but they're all redundant now because I only use single hex sockets now which are safer and stronger. I did use the 3/8 19mm double hex a few years back for the crank on my VW when I changed the timing belt.
Spanners & Sockets we are finding here in the UK many vehicle manufacturers are using 12 point nuts and bolt so 12 point sockets are your only option sometimes
@@NICKTHETOOLUK Torx drivers are a major force in British automotive too. I presume ordering any Snap On via the website will be shipped FOC. Just came across a Yankee video today of a rep for Wright Tools (also US) comparing a Wright open ender to a one from Snap On, the Snap On lost the rounding test.
My lad has just started as an apprentice HGV mechanic, would these tools be suitable for more than just household/DIY stuff? It was this set he was looking to buy. Thanks
Ironically you are forced to use the blue point long 10~11mm ¼ sockets to remove the diesel glow plugs, because what is generally considered an advantage in snap-on's deep sockets, (the interior nut support/rest) is a disadvantage in glow plugs that cannot fit because of interior clearance... so you have to use BluePoint sockets to get the job done, because they don't have such feature. I don't like this bluepoint combination wrenches... I like only B.P. ratcheting chromed ones (they feature the same dual pawl mechanism as in SOEXRM... so you can use em as a donor tools if you e.g. have to fix a lasermarked soexrm for your customer and need the ratcheting parts ... I will take other useful similar BP Kits over this... e.g. BLPGSS1462 (I have this) or BLPGSSC155 booth interesting for completeness... of rare SAE measurements... Just in case to repair old stuffs... ;-)
