  • This video is an update on my blackhead bushmaster. This is the biggest viper on earth. Some people say they can get up to 12 feet long. This viper is only around 7 feet long. The table hes sitting on is 6 foot in length. For more videos on this guy please sub and check out my merch store to help the channel thank you in advance.

    11:39 love how his tail was rattling (which to this day I didn't know bushmasters use rattling for warning signs ) then when you mentioned him if he wanted to go back into his cage, he stopped rattling and in my head when he stopped rattling he said "Say What Now ?" I spent most of the video wondering exactly how he would react/mitigate, when he was kneeling 2 feet from the snake, if it just decided to go at him hard. Doesn't seem like there's much he would be able to do in that position.

      He was sitting 2 feet from the ass of the snake, and the head was around 6 feet away with the snake outstretched, the snake is probably 8-9 feet long at most 10... the effective strike range and maximum for ANY snake is half its body length, that snake would need to at minimum be over 12 feet to even have a slight chance of biting him.... also snakes like this cannot maximize bite distance unless they assume the strike pose, which is the s shape they make with their necks before striking. I’m sure he wouldn’t be squatting there if the snake was in that pose since it would also have been closer... non of the numbers or physical behavioral logic about snakes supports the argument he would’ve been bit at all.

    He did not take his eyes off you for even a second! Very interesting what you said about their heat seeking radar sneaky pits and how they are zeroed in on heat sources. I have had rattlesnakes and copperheads before and did not fully realized or appreciate their use of this organ before until you pointed it out. Sure I knew about it and how it works but as a second set of eyes maybe even better I really never gave it that much thought. This oversight on my part could have had bad consequences for me. If I ever acquire another pit viper I will be sure to remember this lesson. Thank you!

      @@venomman20 I can delete my comment as I don't th8nk hardly anyone knows and I have no clue why it was put in my recommended videos. I actually put a very supportive comment of u and stated that people like this jerk just spread false gossip cuz they r jealous that they will never be the man u r. Not will they ever be as successful.
      And if u had something to hide, I doubt u would have kept your same channel name.
      I would love love to come see all of your pets. I would sign a release and just look. Not touch. I've actually never held a snake before. ( I am so grateful for your videos and I'm learning so much from u.) I also appreciate how ur pets r kept. They aren't in filthy drawers where they r forced to lay in their own mess. Not even a hide, bedding or enrichment. Like Emily on snake discovery uses the rack system, but has clean, fresh bedding, hides, branches or leaves that they like, and always a bowl of fresh water. Can't stand how some put their snakes on display in nice enclosures and then the ones in the basement r filthy and they can't hardly move. Its so wrong. They have feelings too and need to be kept in nice enclosures. If someone kept a dog or cat in a filthy drawer in their own filth, it would make headline news. Snakes are live beings that also have feelings and need to feel secure.
      I would honestlky drive anywhere to come see your pets though. Would sign a release too.

    Holy fuck thats a giant death slinger right there. Imagine af an army was able to weaponize those snakes, like the trojan horse but with 5000 of this monsters,or in ww2 from a helicopter droppin theses snakes into trenches and foxholes. Obviously youd still need to fight the war, but those snakes would fuck shit up. Then you gotta let some giant eagles in to clean up the snakes, make friends with the eagles and maybe continue to feed them, or not thats gonna be called on the fly.

    Venom question. I've seen a couple of videos where venomous snakes have mistakenly bitten themselves without any apparent adverse effect. What happens if a venomous snake bites another venomous snake of a different species? Can one venomous snake kill another of a different species? I saw a youtube video of a cobra attacking and killing a very large puff adder. The puff adder and Cobra got into a biting contest with both snakes inflicting multiple bites on each other. The puff adder eventually died, but the cobra didn't seem affect at all by the puff adders bites and the cobra ate the puff adder. I was surprised.

      That's a very interesting subject many snakes seem to handle their own venom well and others do not coralsnakes can kill themselves if they bite themselves while rattlesnakes seem to fail OK. I think all snakes that eat other snakes tend to handle the venom well

      A lot of vipers twitch the tip of there tail very fast as a warning. It’s a lot louder in dry leaves/grass. But no rattle.

    • @stevenlevy4455
      @stevenlevy4455 4 роки тому +1

      Many non-venomous snakes also vibrate the tip of the tail when they are agitated, for example, ratsnakes, kingsnakes, racers, indigos, Pituophis (pine/bull/gopher). It is not actually a conscious "warning" by the snake, but a reflexive physiological reaction to feeling threatened. The analogy in humans would be the hair standing up on the back of the neck when shocked or frightened, or increased heart rate or sweating when nervous.

    I once worked for some weeks as a volunteer in the Carara Nationalpark in Costa Rica. The park rangers there wore always "snake boots" (leather boots that reached until far over the knees) when they moved through the forest on the hunt for poachers. They warned us against terciopelos (Bothrops asper) in the bathroom facilities and a bushmaster that supposedly always hid between the giant roots of an enormous tree . I don´t know if it was true but when I now think that I went out with another volunteer at night to explore the forest with a flashlight it gives me the creeps. Imagine the bushmaster had been attracted to my flashlight.... But God protects the dumb - so nothing happenend! :-)
