Im sorry to be the nerd, but amatsu doesnt really have a rivalry with zinogre, they just flee from the misty peek because of the harsh storms he creates. His actual rival is Valstrax, which was oddly only very subtley shown in a Video on a monster hunter event
it’s so cool to see (hear?) sounds so similar to what they later used for Shara, what seems to be distorted wind noises. one of hurricane, one of earthquakes. i love silly monster noise it is so fun
I love how much deeper and more bellow like Amatsu’s new roar is, and when it calls down lightning I love the brief moment of elk bugling it makes..god I thought I couldn’t love this monster anymore than I already do..
So, who else thinks that P3rd's Amatsu was younger than Sunbreak's Amatsu? This one is much larger relative to the Hunter (truck-sized vs house-sized) and has a significantly longer pair of barbels. If the P3rd one wasn't a juvenile, then Sunbreak's Amatsu is positively ancient, and it always seems that fantasy dragons never stop growing throughout their lives. Which also makes me wonder if that mustache is also a sign of physical fitness when it comes time for these guys to mate. I'd love to know just a little more about the mating habits of elder dragons, but the only ones we've seen perform any sort of mating ritual are Teostra and Lunastra. Such is their mystery. Edit: The face tendrils that make up Amatsu's "mustache" are called barbels. Edited to reflect this.
Yeah, the old Amatsu gives me “I’m gonna mess you up!” teenager vibes. The new one gives me “I will tear you limb from limb if it’s the last thing I do.” experienced warrior vibes.
@henrydrago Wrong actually. Sourcing the Kiranico wiki for both mhgu and mhrise sunbreak on the size of Amatsu in both games, the one in sunbreak is nearly 40% bigger, at 34.40 meters by comparison to gu's 26.11 meters. So, as a matter of fact in given measurements, and common sense given the barbels, the Amatsu fought in Sunbreak is indeed a more mature/adult/elder specimen of the species. More likely the later, for if Amatsu is much like its other reptilian contemporaries, they never stop growing with age, they only slow down dramatically after a certain age is reached. So is to say, this specific instance of Amatsu is, potentially, ancient, age-wise.
I was disappointed that they changed his old roar, but it grew in me. It reminds me of a multitude of howling winds in a way. I also believe that this Amatsu could possibly be an old Amatsu, giving how low his roar sounds compared to the one from Portable 3rd or GU, and which how long its wiskers are as well. This is just my thoughts on it.
@@reallycantthinkofausername487 I can't really compare because I never fought old gen Fatalis (even when finishing 4U story and almost comleted GU... his quest doesn't appear yet)
@@seidmeister2849 I only fought old gen fatalis through downloaded event quest in FU when I reach G-rank. Sounds similar enough but I prefer the old roars. I think they also took out the sound he made before his exploding water beam attack which is just a regular attack now.
Talking about old roars... Amatsu is something that didn't need change as every roar remake from old gen feels more vibrant/unique... which amatsu already had. But still it's nice to see how they evolve roar side by side with design.
Honestly I really don't like the new roar, his old roar was so unique and I really liked how they implemented the howling winds into his roar so without it it makes him feel a lot more generic.
Man i really found the new roar so inferior to the original, Amatsu is not a Black Dragon, his roar at least for the first phase should be elegant but deadly which the original really evoked perfectly, this one feels more for the second phase and even then is still not as good since the second phase show amatsu as an unspotable storm unleashed without direction, so different from the first phase which the original second roar showed up flawlessly. Capcom really needs to step up their game with the new roars, zinogre is another example of a terrible roar (MHWorld Zinogre) I understand that they wanna aproach a more realistic design but the roars should still be so over the top.
It's interesting how its beginning combat roar sounds kind of wolf-like, considering its rivalry with the very wolf-like Zinogre.
Hmm... amatsu -> storm wolf -> something like dog species rivality in nature

0:27 I heard this one frequently.
This is pretty much what i imagined how a cloud would "roar"
Man the new roar brings a chill down to my spine that's like a horror that you're really gonna die than the OG roar that is elegant but deadly

Amatsu sounds like a vacuum cleaner

His roar kinda sounds like strongs winds howling again your window or house and I love it
Some of its roars sound like a hurricane siren...
That's why it's called the 'storm dragon'👀

Comletely got it... feels like new/different monster than we fought in old gen
@@seidmeister2849 Well, Fatalis was changed a lot from his original as well, but I guess his non-Iceborne fights aren't canon, so...

The original roar is beautiful and elegant, the new roar is ominous and horrifying.
The roar of the storm god.
*sad ibushi & narwa noises* xdd
From the same creators of "sand Buddha", now presenting "rain shenlong"

I loved that sound before the water attack, sad moment.
This sounds similar to some roars of the MUTOs from Godzilla 2014.
