I know this is an old video, but I just stumbled upon it, it was so beautiful to watch. I can't even remember the first time I heard this song, the sounds are so in my DNA. You've got great ears, and the spirit of all great music lovers. Loved this reaction! You said it at the end "it captures the feeling of freedom of being young" Thanks for sharing this with us.
Cant forget 5:15.... Possibly a live version with John Entwistle tearing up that bass... That version from their Quadraphenia concert as marketed on CD...
This got a "HIGHLIGHTED" reply... So, do you think you would endeavor seeking out that Who Quadraphenia concert marketed on CD, the one with a narrative story line' added videos and film clips, and featuring the Great personality of Billy Idol as "Ace Face"... That is one freakin great show....
Saw the Who in 1982 and '89. Yet perhaps their most memorable performance was the benefit concert held shortly after 9/11 at Madison Square Garden. The first notes of Baba O'Riley began and seeing those thousands of NYPD and NYFD guys playing air guitars and going crazy is indelible.
The song is actually about the Vietnam war with teenage wasteland referring to wasting teen lives fighting. The unusual musical effects, including the long intro are Pete Townsend's experiments with one of the very first programmable synthesizers.
The intro was done by Pete Townshend not on a synthesizer but on a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 home organ (1968 model). He used “marimba repeat” setting. In my opinion it's one of the greatest hooks of all time.
The Who was one of those bands where everyone was great at what they did: Pete Townshend - Guitars, Backing Vocals, Lead Songwriter Roger Daltrey - Lead Vocals, Harmonica John "The Ox" Entwistle - Bass, Backing Vocals, Horns Keith "Moonie" Moon - Drums, Chaos Recommendations: Won't Get Fooled Again, Pinball Wizard, My Generation, Magic Bus, Substitute, Summertime Blues, 5:15, Love Reign O'er Me, Go to the Mirror Boy, The Seeker, Squeezebox, The Kids are Alright, I Can't Explain, I Can See For Miles and Miles, The Real Me, Who Are You?, Bargain, Behind Blue Eyes... I feel like I'm missing some...
John Entwhelte, RIP contrebuted so much to the band. He was like a powerhouse in his playing techonomic on the bass. Miss him a lot. He was the reason i skipped the guitar and wanted a bass instead, I grew up with them and geezer butler
The intro is supposedly among the very first uses of a synthesizer. Such amazing writing AND performing - a beautiful blend of power, structure, melody. One of the absolute greatest ever in my opinion.
Laughed at 4:10 when u started playing air drums. Cuz that's what we who fans do, trying to imitate legendary Keith Moon. Never heard any1 call this song "beautiful", tho. Powerful, kickass, innovative comes to mind. Read other comments & suggestions. All songs mention would b more than satisfactory. U go girl.A sistah digging the Who...cool!
We are soo different. Middle aged w g and then you. yet we have soo much in common. Love your stf. So happy to see younger ppl open to older sht. Love you.
Congratulations Scribe Cash. You have discovered the greatest rock group in the world. Now try Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who created many masterpieces.
The Who wrote "Baba O'Riley" after their Woodstock performance, and the song captures the spirit of that music festival from 50 years ago. I was there. Albums in the 60's and early 70's had music measured in decibels, and The Who would hit 125 db. Along with "Won't Get Fooled Again", savor "Behind Blue Eyes". Your reactions are appreciated, as they have me going through the clouds of nostalgia recalling my initial impressions listening to them live.
oh my god......... I grew up a country boy, and parties meant a bonfire in the hills, the lot of us wandering up the cow-paths at dusk, carrying a half keg or cases of beer and a lot of weed.... Light that fire, get it roaring by the time darkness falls.... And a "boom-box" with extra batteries, a boom-box so big that it was all a teen-aged boy could do to carry it.... Out there in the hills with the fire roaring, and every time, the first song of the night, echoing in the hills, "Baba O'Riley"
Another great reaction. And I also agree with the suggestion of Won't Get Fooled Again but it would also be interesting to see you react to some of their really early stuff like pictures of Lily.
Great song; Some of my favorites: I Can't Explain, My Generation, I'm Free, See Me Feel Me (Woodstock version), Young Man Blues (from Live at Leeds), Bargain, The Real Me, Cut My Hair, The Punk and the Godfather, 5:15, and Bell Boy. The Who catalog is quite large.
I’ve been lucky to see these guys many times. But when they played their set at the Concert for New York after 911, it was life changing. If you can find the audio or video of their set, it’s worth watching.
Excellent reaction! A legendary song, from a legendary album, by a legendary band. I would recommend "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Behind Blue Eyes" next. Then "Young Man Blues", live at the Isle of Wight in 1970, is a must. Keith Moon is considered by many to be the best drummer rock ever had. (That fun argument usually revolves around Keith Moon of the Who, John Bohnam of Led Zeppelin, and Neil Peart of Rush.) He is teamed with one of the best bass players in rock, John Entwistle. The band has an awesome music and song writer (and equally talented guitarist and keyboardist) in Pete Townsend. And a vocalist in Roger Daltrey who can hit anything out of the park with his voice.
I’m 54 and I enjoy watching the younger generation listening to music I grew up on. I hear a lot of young kids call me Boomer even though I’m a Gen X but if they knew the music I grew up on was cold and fire they might understand I was young once too and they’ll be old too some day!
The Who had the most ardent and rabid concert fans in rock history (esp. in the early '80s). On the day of concerts, people would sometimes get killed by being crushed in enormous rush mob scenes outside the gates of the stadium concerts they used to sell-out. A huge one happened in Cincinnati in the early '80s where 20+ people died outside of Riverfront Stadium (I think). They were also (maybe still are) the Guinness Book of World Record holder for loudest ever rock band. Between Roger Daltrey's vocals, Keith Moon's (drumming), and Pete Townshend's "trademark" windmill-style (guitar), it's pretty easy to see why...
Who's Next is a quintessential album. Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy, Frank Zappa's Apostrophe. So much good music out of this era.
For someone as small of stature as Roger Daltrey is, he has an amazingly powerful voice. I’m a big guy, and his delivery is more powerful than anything I could do.
Won’t get fooled again
Behind blue eyes
Love reign O’er me
I can see for miles
One of the coolest songs ever
That song is FIRE !!
The late Keith Moon on drums big dog! This fire 🔥 babe!
Let me be the first one to recommend "Won't Get Fooled Again" one of the great masterpieces of Rock 'n' Roll!
"Reign o'er Me" after that
After that, "Love Reign oer Me"
Let me be #35 to agree 🤘😎👍

These are the tunes I grew up with as a teenager,I miss the seventies.
Outstanding reaction . LOVE IT !
Saw the Who in 1982 and '89.

Live at Leeds 1970 “My Generation “🔥🔥🔥
Good one but don't forget Magic Bus same album!
My first gig aged 16.... changed my life!
The intro was done by Pete Townshend not on a synthesizer but on a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 home organ (1968 model). He used “marimba repeat” setting. In my opinion it's one of the greatest hooks of all time.
The whole aullblem is Great.
You can pick any song off of "Who's Next". They are all great.

Bargain!!! YES PLEASE
Another amazing reaction from a beautiful musical queen! #mybeautifulqueenforever 🌹❤💗💓💕💖💞💘💌😍🎶 🎸 🎹 🌟 👑
The Who was one of those bands where everyone was great at what they did:
Pete Townshend - Guitars, Backing Vocals, Lead Songwriter
Roger Daltrey - Lead Vocals, Harmonica
John "The Ox" Entwistle - Bass, Backing Vocals, Horns
Keith "Moonie" Moon - Drums, Chaos
Recommendations: Won't Get Fooled Again, Pinball Wizard, My Generation, Magic Bus, Substitute, Summertime Blues, 5:15, Love Reign O'er Me, Go to the Mirror Boy, The Seeker, Squeezebox, The Kids are Alright, I Can't Explain, I Can See For Miles and Miles, The Real Me, Who Are You?, Bargain, Behind Blue Eyes... I feel like I'm missing some...
I'm one, the punk and the godfather and christmas are 3 of my favorite deep cut
Daltrey’s vocal steals the show here.
That fiddle tho :)
It's like he was a whole different singer from "Tommy" when this came out.
Every time! Except when Pete Townsend breaks in!
Be careful driving and listening to The Who. Stay Safe. and before you ask They are where all the samples for CSI came from
Neil Peart ( & his magical drumkit) was a huge fan of The Who drummer Keith Moon. Love ya Scribey xx
John Entwhelte, RIP contrebuted so much to the band. He was like a powerhouse in his playing techonomic on the bass. Miss him a lot. He was the reason i skipped the guitar and wanted a bass instead, I grew up with them and geezer butler
The Who live is always a treat ,
It’s cool to see young people appreciate older music 🙏
tommy, Live at leeds, Who's Next, Quadrophenia - 4 of the greatest rock albums ever
Next HAS to be "Love Reign O'er Me" - you will be amazed!
I could watch you rocking out to The Who for hours. Great reactions.
I like the live versions where the guitar takes over the piano part with those windmill power chords.
The intro is supposedly among the very first uses of a synthesizer. Such amazing writing AND performing - a beautiful blend of power, structure, melody. One of the absolute greatest ever in my opinion.

This is The Who's most complete and perfect song imo. It has so many beautiful transitions that fit like an almost impossible puzzle.
Love your reactions, to some fantastic music. Love it!!!
She’d be loads of fun to hang out with in a social group. Full of energy and breaking into song. A real character.
One of my favorite songs ever thank you

"Eminence Front"by the Who,tap into it
Who are You and Won't Get Fooled Again. Love the reactions!
Great to see how into the groove you got with this. Just having a great time listening to great music.
Love how you really got the flow of this song
‘Won’t get fooled again’ and ‘who are you?’ Have fun.......
Music can be a magical transportation device that leads magical dimensions
"Who's Next" is probably most rock fans favorite album. All killer, no filler.
Your voice sounds good on that chorus - you should do cover of this song! You're gonna have a lot of fun flying down The Who rabbit hole!
She only adds to the beauty of this tune!
Simply... THE BEST!
Congratulations Scribe Cash. You have discovered the greatest rock group in the world. Now try Won't Get Fooled Again. The Who created many masterpieces.
This was out theme song when it came out back in 1971 everybody in their teenage years in America this was their song
I wondered how long it would be before you got to THE WHO.Better late then never.
watching you react to this song was very emotional for me... thank you
So many good songs from The Who, but the one that really stands above the rest is "Love Reign O'er Me".
React to Won't get fooled again!

Scribe u are a jewel to the universe 🎉
And that was a beautiful reaction ❤️
You like that, you gotta react to the Who’s Wont Get Fooled Again. It’s one of the greatest songs ever written.
Yep!
Behind Blue Eyes
Love Reign over me
Another great reaction. And I also agree with the suggestion of Won't Get Fooled Again but it would also be interesting to see you react to some of their really early stuff like pictures of Lily.
Yeah baby, THE WHO!! Check out "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Love Reign O'er Me", "5:15", "The Kids Are Alright", "I Can See For Miles"...
First song to get me into rock music....heard this and I was converted like Paul on the road to Damascus.....and yes I did fall off my donkey.
Our Jr Prom Song (pick by us and not the school) and what a night ---- 1979
🔥🤘😎👍🔥 #ScribeSquad
My dad (and I) listened to ALLOT of Who.
Picked one of my favorites to start!!!

Once a Who fan you are signed up for life Haha.
Roger Daltry is my pick for the greatest Rock voice of all time.
The Who are the complete band, which you will discover.... :)
Damn she's just adorable

Your so funny... love your reactions thank you take care 🐒🌻💜

Well said
Love Reign O'er Me. Try it. You're great...👍😉
Only the very tip of the Who iceberg. "Magic Bus" from Live at Leeds LP would be my next suggestion for a serious rock jam.
Love Reign O'er Me and Behind Blue Eyes.
I’m 54 and I enjoy watching the younger generation listening to music I grew up on. I hear a lot of young kids call me Boomer even though I’m a Gen X but if they knew the music I grew up on was cold and fire they might understand I was young once too and they’ll be old too some day!

E J Eleven people died on Dec. 3, 1979 in Cincinnati.
@@gpass60 Thanks, Greg. For some reason I thought I remembered more... maybe I included the injured also in the total (?)
A must to do is Another Tricky Day by The Who. John The Ox Aka Thunder Fingers Entwistle has an incredible bass lead on this song.
Who are you awsome song 😎
Who's Next is a quintessential album. Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy, Frank Zappa's Apostrophe. So much good music out of this era.
Nice list👌
Love your work...thanks.
You cannot go wrong with the 1960s Who.
Trudat, but, I believe this is the 70s
Great reaction! You should react to Behind Blue Eyes
Dave Arbus of East of Eden was the violinist at the end.
YOU GOT IT!!
"Behind Blue Eyes", "see me, feel me" just a couple of The Who classics.
For someone as small of stature as Roger Daltrey is, he has an amazingly powerful voice. I’m a big guy, and his delivery is more powerful than anything I could do.
Saw them in 78 when Keith was still alive. Was wonder-full......
Thank you!
"Sweet Jane" by The Velvet Underground/Lou Reed. You'll see why. . .
& "Walk on the Wild Side"
Important: version from the Rock'n'Roll Animal album !
Wonderful!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️❤️❤️
Time for another classic by The Who: "Love Reign O'er Me."
