Do you own JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) screw drivers? I’m about to rejet my Honda Ruckus and I picked up a JIS screwdriver set. I know Phillips screw drivers will typically work, but stripping the screws on the bottom of the carb is a common occurrence when re-jetting. JIS screwdriver should prevent this from happening. It will fit all of the Phillips style screws on a Japanese bike better, as they are not actually Phillips, rather JIS. Thanks for the vid.
Just came across this channel looking up stuff for my new Honda Ruckus. It warms my heart seeing people support you and your enthusiasm and love for scooters! Keep up the dedication!
NO WAY! I literally just brought my Honda Ruckus out of my garage after having it sit for the past year and the carburetor is all gunked up. I was about to search for a carb removal tutorial and here you are to save the day. Thanks Mitch!
Stop using dirty pump gas with ethanol, either use recreational gas that has no ethanol or buy canned ethanol free gas it cost a bit more but you won't ever have that problem and it burns cleaner so your bike will last longer. If you don't wanna spend the extra on better gas run it completely dry like bone dry even let it stay open for a day or so in the sun, do that before storing then all you do is fill it up with gas after storage and it will fire right up. I do small engine repair and maintenance and I tell this to my customers all the time and it would basically make them stop needing to come to me but they still do it and end up calling lol. But iam an honest mechanic and try to help my customers keep their vehicles or equipment running longer and better.
Mitch, We have a 2008 Ruckus. It wasn’t running right and finally wouldnt start. Watched your videos and changed the carb, fuels, plug, filter and the pump. Ran great for a bit but started now, it’s will start just fine but will stall when you give it gas?? Changed the fuel and carb, no change. Any suggestions? Thank you
Question here! Since coolant lines go to the carburetor, do you have to bleed the radiator after swapping the carb? Just swapped mine and hadn't gotten a clear answer
Hey Mitch, my ruckus is running rich, the exhaust smells like pure gas, and there’s gas in my air box… the scooter is Farley new with 700+ miles on it. It’s a 2024 and has warranty. What do you think would cause that and is it an easy fix or should I bring it in since it’s under warranty?
@@MitchsScooterStuff thanks for your reply, I was thinking the same. I’m making a long journey trip later this year on the scooter, just want to make sure the ride is ready before I go….. thank you again for your answer
Check if you have air leak somewhere around air filter box lid and snorkel tube between carburetor and air box… if no leak then possible the jet is clogged… was scooter sitting for a while?
Fuel lines seem to always be really difficult. I’ve busted my hand more then once pulling them off. Try gripping into them just enough with a pair of pliers (aka vice grips) and try to twist it loose. Once you get it to budge you can just twist and turn it off from there.

@@Ethan.s.. PH2 is what I’ve used and have never stripped a screw. Most auto stores don’t know about JIS, I’ve asked 😅.
THANK YOU for showing a step by step video with a steady cam and good lighting. A breath of fresh air
You’re welcome!

Hey Terry, maybe check the air filter seal... like in this video - ua-cam.com/video/ydBew6dU4GU/v-deo.html
Getting a new carb into the intake manifold is hard. Any tips?

Hey, yes need to bleed to get rid of air bubbles trap around inside of carb
One of the last screws before the coolant lines stripped on me and now I'm stuck. ☹
Thanks for posting.
Great job as always! 🖐️ 🇷🇴
Stie ce face
Nice and precise.
Thank you bro! Very helpful

Hey I think you should bring it in to get checked on while on warranty

Will these steps be the same for a gy6 carburetor?????
Yes similar
Would this be the problem if my ruckus starts good and idles fine but when giving gas it cuts off?
Check if you have air leak somewhere around air filter box lid and snorkel tube between carburetor and air box… if no leak then possible the jet is clogged… was scooter sitting for a while?
@@MitchsScooterStuff yeah scooter was sitting all fall and winter
Same!
Wow my fuel line won’t slide out... any tips? I’m afraid of ripping it.

Carefully pry with flat head screwdriver
Thanks again you are asome.
