Love your reaction! My wife's favorite 3 Dog Night song is Shambala. Great groove! BTW, the name of the band is a thing. In Alaska, where it can get really cold you might need three dogs to keep you warm!
Britt hun, you are so amusing! You can understand these songs better than most other reaction channels! You are a quite interesting and intelligent woman. And so charming and pretty! Thank You!
One of the best groups of this era, and that is really saying something! It's that soulful, gospel sound enables them to hit such levels of expression.
MAN, I miss this stuff. There was a time when you could crank up the radio in your car as you cruised and every song was amazing stuff like this. Those of us who came of age in those days didn't realize how special it was at the time.
When I was little the juke box at the neighborhood bar and grill include Three Dog Nights "Liar" . It wasnt one of their biggest hits but remains my favorite of theirs. Same thing with CCR's "Sweet Hitchhiker".
I always thought that this song means: 1 may be the loneliness number after you break up, but sometimes 2 can also be very lonely if you're still in the middle of a relationship that isn't working out.
Please do Mama Told me not to come. I know you'll love it. Plus you'll be seeing and hearing them in a different light☮️ Happy 4th of July everyone 🇺🇲🎆
3DN was an AWESOME band in the '60s & '70s. They had MANY hits, and in concert they could deliver non-stop high energy performances...because they had 3 lead singers. While one was carrying the load, the other two rested their voices.
I bought the 45 of this song in early 70’s and played it over and over! Three Dog Night are so great! Britt the 70’s did have some fantastic music I am so happy to have been a teenager during that time✌🏻
Born in 1967, This is the music I was listened to while my in my early formative years probably beginning when I saw Elvis Presley in Las Vegas in August 1969. This was probably one of the most popular bands next to Led Zeppelin, The Jackson 5 and anything Motown, The Osmond Brothers, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Chicago, CCR, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and The Beatles my older siblings (I am the youngest of us 4) had me listening to back then.
I absolutely love Three Dog Night! They have so many great songs. I was probably 12 when this song came out. I saved my money and rode my sting ray to the record store and bought the album. About 8 or 9 years later i sat 10 feet from them at a bar they were playing at. They were still great and i couldnt believe i was at a table next to the stage! Great review Britt!
Thank you for doing this song which doesn't get it's just due. The band had 3 lead singers. Their song Joy to the World has been sung by boy and girl choirs to this day.
Three Dog Night could take a song and make it a number one hit. There were three of them and all were lead singers so they traded off. You might want to check into their catalog. They performed several written by Laura Nyro ( “Eli’s Coming”). They were so good!!
They aren't brothers, but they sound good! The 3 singers are Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron, who took the lead here. For other TDN tunes, I'd recommend "Liar," "Out in the Country," and their cover of "Try A Little Tenderness." Prejudice perhaps, but those are my favorites of theirs. Oh, and "Black and White" is also a good one.
Three Dog Night is one of those bands that everybody just really liked it. They're easy to like and they were really really good. And they wrote Such catchy songs. I heard this a lot in Junior and Senior High and yet, over the years, it will just randomly pop into my head now and then out of the blue, it's just that well written and penetrating.
One of the things that always fascinated me about this song was how the band took Harry Nilsson's original, dirge-like version and transformed it into an incredibly catchy rocker that makes you want to leap to your feet and dance while you sing along. My other favorite of theirs is their cover of Laura Nyro's "Eli's Coming," which matches "One" in it's energy, ear-catching appeal and danceability. And, no, the three lead singers are not brothers.
Ya i agree, there soooo many that THINK.. THINK they can sing, n cant.. they are clueless. Its like some one who smells bad but for what ever reason cant smell there own funk.. same with people who try to sing, But what ever... let them have fun n make myself and many many others laugh! I cant sing.. i know i cant sing so i dont sing out loud, in front of others EVER lol. But in bands i can sing backup, the chorus ect ect.. but thats entirely different, thats with 2 or 3 others and myself, most anyone can do that! There are an endless amount of people that sing and can get by with studio magic n theres very very VERY few who can SING.. CAN SANG!
This is one of my favorite songs. I have the album they have beautiful harmonies. One of my coworkers partied with them back in the day. Keep up the good work you do Miss Brit.
My favorite band of the 70's. Biggest band of the first half of the 70's with many hits but still not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Just Not Right!
Three lead singers! Amazing. That lead was Chuck Negron. Cory Wells on TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS on 1975 Soundstage was outstanding with his soulful sultry voice! They are in the Vocal Hall of Fame!
Not brothers. The group was from Australia. Saw them at North Hollywood High School. I even got the chance to toss a football around with the drummer. 3 lead vocalists and a solid band behind, they were one of a kind. A really cold night in Australia is called a 3 dog night.
But even when they were together it was still lonely because she checked out of the relationship and just going through the motions. Today it is all silos that we are in . I miss the 70s and 80s.
So cool!! No, they aren't related, but they were/are lifelong friends. The bands' name comes from referring to the coldest of nights in Australia as "a three dog night"😄. "Mamma Told Me Not To Come" is another great song from TDN!
Not brothers. Left to right: Corey Wells, Chuck Negron, and Danny Hutton. Their supporting band is awesome: Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), Joe Schermie (bass guitar), Michael Allsup (guitar), and Floyd Sneed, my hero and model for the way I play (drums).
The three vocalists of Three Dog Night were not brothers. Chuck Negron (the lead singer on One), Corey Wells and Danny Hutton formed together as the vocal group Redwood and did some preliminary recording with Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. When that fell through the three singers brought in the musicians Floyd Sneed (drums), Joe Schermie (bass), Michael Allsup (guitar) and Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards) and renamed themselves Three Dog Night. One was a top 10 hit in 1968 and helped propel the band to stardom. Three Dog Night was all over the radio from 1968 to 1974 with many top 40 hits. An interesting fact is that each lead singer managed to score a number one hit. Danny Hutton sang the lead on Black And White, Corey Wells sang the lead on Mama Told Me Not To Come, and Chuck Negron sang the lead on Joy To The World. All three hit the top of the top 40.
I was into Three Dog Night as a kid. I was too young to be a Beatles fan (became one later on of course) and Three Dog Night was marketed as "the next Beatles". While they fell short of that...as most bands did...they did dominate the Pop music scene for a while.
