  • Josh flies up to Arkansas to buy a 2002 Honda S2000 and then drives it back to Texas. The car is a little worse than expected, but it is a great car and drives really well.

    You guys are pros but for
    me the further I travel to buy a vehicle the worse my negotiating position. Am I going to go home empty handed over $500-$1000? And the seller knows I’m in a weak position.

    I worked with a salesman who had one and it is amazing how high you could rev it. Nice pick ✌🏼

    Awesome!
    When released the s2000 has more power per liter of any Ferrari.
    Can’t wait to see more content.

    Glad to hear it's mechanically sound and you didn't have any problems on the drive. I've never even sat in an S2000, but I did own a 2007 Miata. Like you I'm 6'3" and I didn't fit in the NA or NB Miatas.

    Great video, Josh. The "try to keep my expectations low" comment really made me laugh.😂 I guess after all your other purchases of $$$$ cars, this one was pretty basic..

    Longtime sub, two-time S2000 owner (currently own). I was honestly a bit surprised at this purchase. However, broadening the appeal of the dealership in this way is a great business move. It shouldn’t take much money to whip that S2000 into good shape for sale. Good luck!

    Love the S2000s. Make sure you check the oil levels at every gas fill up. AP1s naturally consume more oil. Not unusual to have to add about 1 Quart every 1K miles, but some AP1s burn more oil. Very important to check the oil frequently and check for cracked valve retainers. Enjoy!

    • @normalguysupercar
      @normalguysupercar  6 місяців тому

      Geeze that's a high burn rate

      My 2001 S2K AP1 burns very little oil between oil changes. Depends on how one drives the car and maintains it, I suppose. It's a daily driver and has never been a track car, so that helps a lot.

    I had an ‘05 S2000 AP2 and really enjoyed it. Just a great car to throw around on the backroads.
    It’s a shame about the paint mismatch on this one. Unfortunately it’s something that can’t be unseen once you notice it.

    I've had one since it was new in '05. Fantastic fun car. 150k miles and the only thing I had to fix was one CV shaft and a timing chain tensioner.

    I owned a bunch of these new back in the day. These are challenging cars to buy for a collector, even if you're looking for a "driver". So many got modded and totally wrung out when they went through a cheap phase 10-12 years ago. Then prices blew up in the last 2-3 years and folks were overpaying at all levels. The S2K market is starting to settle back down, but it's still challenging to find good cars at fair prices.

    • @normalguysupercar
      @normalguysupercar  6 місяців тому

      Yes it is. There's a lot of ragged out S2Ks out there

      While your not wrong but they are selling the car so they not going to say what they paid. Once they clean it up and price it you can probably figure out what the approx. Price they paid.

      @@user-hr5di5fg8b Then why clickbait with "CHEAP" in the video title?

    • @hamsterbrigade
      @hamsterbrigade 6 місяців тому +2

      That's probably because he's going to be selling it sometime within the next year. Downsides of watching content from a car dealer, always thinking about the sale, doesn't want to compete with a buyer who knows what his purchase price is.

    The problem with buying a car like this used is that the owners are typically ignorant, low rent, low income and low information people that rag their cars out, don't follow maintenance or care that is required. I'd never buy one, no matter what the price of it.
