Its even more shocking when you realize that little Honda is technically a mid 90’s Car. Honda WAITED to release it in the new millennium as a gift to itself but it had already hatched in the 90’s. Its made its way to 2024 and STILL is the benchmark, and one of the most solid platforms in road racing. The s2000 never got the type r treatment because it would of cannibalized the NSX. Yeah the CR came later but, not close to what Honda would of done with a Type R.
It truly has aged like fine wine amongst all of these new drive-by-computer cars. It still feels refined and surprisingly modern. Considering it was designed in the 90’s (didn’t know that), it feels like a newer car. Insanely good.
Great review. I own an ap2 and I want to welcome you to the S2000 cult. I just found my 2006 since 2023 and I was a gift to myself for my 60th birthday. What a car. I understand everything you have in your review. Just such a great vehicle. Keep up the great work
I own an AP2 and I've driven many ND Miatas. Both are great cars, but the S2000 engine is MUCH more special, more raw, and more angry. It's a more visceral experience.
Amen to that! It really is special. Funny how the ND1 2.0 was just an afterthought from Mazda then they did a few things for the ND2 and it’s still a ‘meh’ motor. lol
I own an identical blue, stock S2000 and TBH I was ready to hear a ND owner trash it. I actually really respect and like Miatas too. Is there a rift between communities? I give a wave or thumbs up to any roadsters I see. Hopefully they're not taking it facetiously. I got my S2K a decade ago so it wasn't quite built up into the status it carries today. Just taking care of and enjoying it.
Not so much a rift but everyone seems to be glued to there platform out of sheer loyalty and circumstance. At the end of the day, we are all winning driving these awesome JDM sports cars! Thanks for the comment and keep your S2000 forever if you can!
@@VictorPitstop Too true. I even try to get along with the British roadster guys, most of the time they don't seem to like Miatas, S2Ks and such. The club president explained to me it might be jealousy because they are dependable, but on the flip side of the coin, I respect those guys for doing what it takes to keep that history and character on the road. I have been delaying driving one for a supremely long time just because I didn’t want this to happen. It’s hard lusting after really damn good cars like the S2K. Nothing but mad love for the car because it’s perfect.
The S2000 is complete hype... when I drive my AP1, i get this hyper excitment. When I am having a hard time in my life and depressed. I get hyped to jump in my S2K. Ive owned Boosted honda/Mr2T/Awd DSMs ETC. It literally feels like a race car.

🤔🤔🤔 My question is why does everyone compare a 20plus year old S2000 to your late model Mx5's... 86's and every late model vehicles produced. Why don't these reviews compare the car's from the same era as the S2000???
Because they’re soooooooooooo ahead of their time. Nothing in that era really compares. My question to you is: What car from that era would you compare it to? My next question is have you driven an S2000? Have you driven any generation of Miata’s?
@@VictorPitstop I own a S2000... R32 Gtr's... FD3S... Jza80 Supra... SW20 Mr2 REV 3 and 5... RPS13 Type X... S14's... S30 240Z. A Chassis i can say the S2000 compares with is a S30 240Z but they are decades apart. Only chassis/handling to compare in the same era is the FD3S but!!! The FD is a slug.
@@mrjk0890 a man of TRUE JDM culture I see! I tip my proverbial hat to you! See, you answered your own question right there; the S30 compares to the experience of the S2K however they are decades apart. The ND Miata is decades apart from the S2000 and it’s the best comparison you can do at this time. The age of analog cars is all but gone with all of this digital nonsense but Toyobaru and Mazda are the remaining JDM companies keeping it as minimal as possible. Interesting… it clicks into place very nicely, with great tactile feedback. Maybe that’s a better description for you? Notchy to me is good feedback but when it’s too notchy, that’s bad.
@@VictorPitstop Ahh. That makes sense. "Notchy" to me is when it's not exactly smooth shifting into gear. The ap2 trans has carbon synchros and it's smooth as butter. The reverse of "notchy".
