Trim remover kit
7mm socket wrench
T10 torx screwdriver
flat head screw driver
New radio!

-As of 5/24/2023 - 3 weeks since I last heard from Teyes. No resolution
-Issue still persists....06/01/2023. No additional response from Teyes for weeks.

I contacted the Australian consumer protection agency on 08/06/2023 with the entire story and how Teyes were not responding anymore and I was looking for a resolution. THEY reached out to Teyes directly and I finally got a response from TEYES!!!
Teyes stated they were ready to send me a NEW canbus, but I refused. At that time, I had already spend months on the issue and was fed up with their lack of customer support.
I am happy to say I was given a return address to send my unit back for a refund(minus shipping).
I received my refund a few days after the unit was delivered back to them. Overall, I did lose shipping both ways(over $100) and more importantly I lost a lot of my time trying to troubleshoot an issue that should have been resolved within the first week of my initial complaint.

With all that said, i will still post the link to the unit and I believe if I was sent a working canbus, I would have enjoyed the radio.

Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I still have the stock radio. I was not able to get the Teyes radio to work with my PIU. I have not tried any other brand, as I fear they will all be the same end result.
I bought a 2014 PIU Explorer..
My one main gripe is my power ports/cigarette lighter plug has no power..
Do you have any idea on how to fix that?
Someone told me all I had to do was pull up the center console and reconnect the wires/plugs..
I don't really know..🤷♂️
Hey, thanks for watching. Yes the first option is to pull up your center console and HOPE you have the wires and plugs simply disconnected. Chances are that’s not the case. In that situation, you would need to tap a new wire into your existing ports/cigarette lighter and run this new wire to the console. It’s not difficult to do and becomes much simpler if you’re able to obtain the oem connectors.

There's a junction box the wires go through from the Whelen light system.. Need to bypass it..
I can’t find my files, but I did get the diagrams from a ford explorer forum. I’ll keep searching

Thank you- I am shopping for a radio replacement for the Gen5 PIU with the 4” screen and now know what not to get.
I believe it’s possible to find and use an 8” ford unit (some connector rewiring may be needed), if you know of any video documenting this please comment & tell me.

Hey, did you manage to fix this.... I just purchased a similar looking unit from Alibaba. I also have a 2014 PIU and would love your opinion on this matter, obviously the manufacturer has told me it will fit and work however I am concerned due to your video thank you in advance.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately no. I was unable to get it working, and vendor stopped responding to my emails. If you get your unit to work, please reply here, I would love to get a reasonably priced unit installed in my PIU.

You should try installing a sync 3 upgrade kit
Thanks, I looked at them a few weeks back. I would need a sync 1 to sync 3 kit. They were well over $1000! I guess I should stop complaining about my teeny tiny 4.2” screen, lol

I got my sync 1 to sync 3 conversion kit from 4 dtech and it works perfectly. It’s plug and play the system is all o.e.m. parts so there’s no wire splicing and all the connections only fit in the correct locations so you can’t cross the wires up.

Wait a min, so they know they’re not going to work, but still sell them anyway 🤔
I can’t confirm nor deny that, and according to them, there were at least 5 sold to regular ford explorer owners. They did not confirm any PIU owners purchased it, so I would assume I was the first, and hopefully the last. It looks to be a great product and I really wish it would have worked. They need to have the canbus programmed properly for the PIUs but since it’s such a small market for them, I doubt it would ever happen. It’s a shame.
Oh man I dont remember the last time I seen a newer column shift explorer, was only reason I clicked tbh. I did fast foward thru the video, hope you got it fixed
Thanks for sort of watching it, lol! Not fixed. End result, after months of back and forth, I had to contact some Australian authority to get the return started. Wish it had worked. The unit is really nice looking and UA-cam videos show it’s great quality

The top dash piece that has holes in doesn't have the speaker equipped on PIUs, however it can be replaced with another like I did. Mine was just completely destroyed.
If your PIU has the backup camera image displayed in the rear view mirror, you don't have to connect the backup camera wires. You will retain the camera and parking sensors.
Thank you for watching. I actually purchased a center speaker to replace the top dash piece. My PIU does not have the center speaker wiring in place, so I am hoping this Teyes radio will eventually get fixed. Then I'll install the center speaker off of the Teyes radio. Will make video if it happens. Thanks!
@@mrtrytofixit That's cool! The airbag light on your dash is likely from the passenger airbag on/off indicator. If that doesn't work, it turns the airbag light on.
@@utility_tristin thanks, I noticed that when the original fascia is not connected, the heat blows at max speed and the airbag light stays lit. It’s all related to the canbus being defective.
@@mrtrytofixit I also noticed your car had wires tapped into. Are you sure that's not causing the power failure to the new unit? It should still power on even without the canbus plugged in at all.
@@utility_tristin I hope not! I checked all wires with voltmeter. There’s power to the radio, but canbus controls the ACC line to actually turn it on. No power to ACC after the vehicle is on…..
