A little random but beautiful fact about when Godzilla goes in burning mode: When the blast comes out of his body it takes the shape of Mothra's wings and sounds like her, because her ability is to let Godzilla break all his limits and that reflects their kind of relationship as King and Queen of the Monsters
I agree, though I think the films were trying to do separate things. Godzilla 2014 did a huge amount of leg-work in terms of reviving the Godzilla franchise in the public eye and making him seem a real and serious threat. Remember that the previous big Western Godzilla movie had been Roland Emmerich's much-reviled version, which left the whole "Godzilla" thing feeling quite silly and rather childish. 2014 brought back all the drama and pathos and serious themes of the original Godzilla, with its symbolic commentary on the horrors of war and nuclear weapons and the helplessness of the average person in the face of either. That serious grounding gave this film a lot more leeway to have fun and do things that, without that background, would have felt sorta "kid smashing action figures together". The colouring of each film tells the tale a bit; 2014 is all muted greys and browns and blues, gritty and realistic. This film was able to bring-in intense jewel-tone neons without those colours starting to feel overly-flashy and without substance.
@@michaelccozensYeah, Godzilla 2014 was more of an early Showa character driven film, whereas King of the Monsters was mid Heisei where they were more action oriented. Neither one is better overall than the other imo, they just do different things and had different focuses.

The thing about the kaiju is that while it is somewhat up for interpretation, it seems pretty likely that they're not on humanity's side; from their perspective, humanity is beneath their notice until they do something to anger the kaiju. Mothra would be the big exception for being interested in humanity's survival, but for the rest they either focus specifically on individual communities they have bonded with (like Kong) or just ignore them while at the same time minimizing any actual damage they do (Godzilla). They're not malicious about it, while Ghidorah IS and that's one reason he's so dangerous. But humanity is just a part of the world; the hearing earlier in the movie essentially is a bunch of people trying to dictate the decisions of gods (which the kaiju increasingly come off as) and trying to pretend they have a say in it. All of which goes to say that trying to say that killing Godzilla for humanity's self-interest is an EXTREMELY bad move. In fact I think there's an increase in Godzilla getting increasingly less patient as the movies go on; in Godzilla 2014, he actively avoids humans most of the time and makes an effort not to harm them whenever possible. Here, he's noticably less patient with them and his flashing display followed by abruptly charging at them seems DELIBERATELY geared to intimidate and scare them. Possibly a reminder of 'you are NOT in charge here'.
GvK was Godzilla giving humanity a taste of what he's capable of. We weren't specifically his targets, but we were consistently between him and whatever it happened to be, and he didn't think twice about destroying us in the process.
I don't understand why critics hate this film so much. I personally thought it was awesome. It is visually impressive, action packed, and I got chills so many times. Some may complain about few of the human characters, but they need to remember that this is a Godzilla film. Characters and story aren't usually the strength for these films. People just want to see some awesome monster fights, and there are tons of pretty epic fights in the film.
You can't make a good film nowadays. That's why. It's just become the "norm" for people to be over-critical and hate everything, to try and fit in I guess. People complained that the human characters in Godzilla 2014 were stale, boring, and the film focused on the monsters. So in the sequel, King Of The Monsters, they gave the human cast a lot more depth and screentime, just like people asked for, and then people proceeded to bitch and whine that the monsters didn't have enough screentime and that the film was just focused on the human characters. Fast forward to Godzilla Vs Kong and the film was given a healthy mixture between the two, and people still complained for no other reason than people are entitled and want to fit in.
@@anom2619 honestly yeah fair point, although I didn't like GvK it wasn't the human character writing, nor the monster fights themselves, just the plot was kinda ass in my opinion
I actually met Millie Bobby Brown at a con shortly after she was cast in this and congratulated her on it. She thanked me, hehe. The writing here could've been better, especially since we lost all the elements of surprise with Godzilla, but Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan made up for that.
Drives me nuts that they had such a great opportunity and decided to waste it on a story about a grieving mom who was so upset she decided that releasing Titans to "Cleanse the world" was the best way to save humanity. Makes no sense and is nothing but a distraction from the incredible idea that an alien creature is attacking Earth and the only way to stop it is for Godzilla to protect us. I love this movie, but it's so frustrating to watch....
If you ever get into any classic monsterverse movies, I highly recommended Rodan. Quality-wise it is one of the best ones, an absolute banger for its time.
The oxygen destroyer is what was used to kill the very first Godzilla, and a component in the monster Destroyah from the 90s. It was a decent nod to those movies to use it in this one.
Honestly i went and saw this at a midnight release, it was a small audience but everyone there was such a huge Godzilla fan based on the cheers, merch, and awesome Kaiju cosplay people had on. It was the 100% absolute best movie theater experience i have ever had, including Endgame. The love for this franchise and these monsters was unreal to feel and electric. I was a casual Godzilla fan at the time, seen some of the old movies and knew the lore, but these fans were unreal and the energy was so intoxicating. So so good!
To be honest, I think that this movie had the best human charcters of the Monsterverse. Mark is the only Monsteverse human with an actual story arc, Serizawa was at his best, Emma and Joanh were decent human villains (theire actions are wrong, but you can undestrand their reasons) and the other humas had funny moments.
I love that this movie had multiple callbacks to the 1954-56 original movie. Dr. Seizawa is the same name as the professor in the original. ( I know he is a descendant), and the oxygen destroyer is the weapon used against Godzilla.
I saw this movie in a 3D 4DX Movie Theater when it released while i was visiting Cairo, Egypt & it was one HELL of an experience, I felt every stomp! The seats shook with every bit of action, it freakin snowed in the movie theater with fake snow machines when Godzilla is in the Arctic! It was just crazy, all the fights were already amazing on their own but with all that 4DX shit it was just like being on a ride!
I like that they don't forget the old-school kaiju when they also add new ones. And it's about damn time Mothra got some decent attack power (although she was up-gunned in the Japanese movies in the 2000s).
Here's something you didn't noticed is that Godzilla dorsals plates are different is because in it's prequel comic Godzilla: aftershocks Godzilla's original dorsal plates got destroyed during a fight with a more powerful muto Muto Prime and after Godzilla went to his home to regenerate his plates.
Thank you so much for reacting to this, the fight scenes of this movie are fantastic, the Godzilla and Mothra relationship along with Doc sacrificing himself for his old friend is great (the story with the mom is annoying but other than that its fantastic!) this movie gives me goosebumps every single time, i hope you guys are gonna check out the new one next year im so excited!
You guys gotta check out the trailer for the TV show coming that's part of the Monster-verse, Monarch Legacy of Monsters. But yea glad your coming around to all this, been a Godzilla fan since 1993 when as a 3 yr old I saw my dad and uncle watching. Big fan and looking forward to your reaction of Godzilla vs Kong, and yes there's a movie coming out soon as the 5th installment. PS also check out the trailers for Godzilla Minus One 😉
I was raised on the 1950s and 60's Godzilla movies. Every Saturday afternoon as a litttle kid I would watch it with my mother. Flash forward 35 years and the reboots gave me nostalgia of Saturday afternoons. This movie was the best reboot so far of the Godzilla franchise.
This is by far the best movie from the monsterverse, and I love in the end the camera circled as godzilla made all the monsters bow, foreshadowing him and kong
Defenetly the best Godzilla/Monsterverse movie ever created. It was just phenomenal, it has everything a Godzilla movie must have. And King Gidorah is just pure perfection (the design, it’s freakin THEME, fight scenes, powers) it was a menace. It’s truely what a Godzilla fan wanted from a Monsterverse movie. Defenetly a 10/10 (or at least 9/10) Also all the titan’s themes are perfection.
Awesome score composed and conducted by Bear McCreary. His homage to Akira Ifukube("Godzilla's theme") and Yuji Koseki("Mothra's song") are legendary. Plus, Bear's theme for King Ghidorah is fantastic.
Awesome reaction you two. This will always be my favorite Godzilla movie especially modern day Godzilla movie. Plus he got an escort by the military which is one of my favorite moments
I've fallen in love with the idea that Ghidorah is symbolically the Lucifer of the Godzilla franchise And the display and representation of this demon is absolutely phenomenal
To put this into perspective for you, Godzilla and King Ghidorah's rivalry is the kaiju equivalent of Batman and Joker. These two *HATE* each other, and their battles are always some of the most violent and destructive across each era in the franchise.
@Ciffer-1998 I don't see how, Ghidorah was literally _winning_ until Godzilla, Serizawa, and Mothra pulled that burning mode out of their collective asses.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim It went both ways, the novel even confirms it. Godzilla started fresh off Serizawa's nuke and was really putting on the pressure. When Ghidorah absorbed Boston's power supply is when it immediately turned.
Godzilla: Ghidorah! Ghidorah: wussup? Godzilla: I NEVER YIELDED! AND AS YOU CAN SEE I AM NOT DEAD Ghidorah: All that challenge shit over with, I'm the Alpha now.
17:49 MOTHRA: The only Kaiju that's predominantly a female... She's also a flyer but not as fast or as powerful as Her peers... She's always there to help Godzilla and has the ability to heal Kaijus.... Other than her silk webs she doesn't have any other abilities, however she can't seem to die because she's always replacing herself by creating copies of herself as a caterpillar 🐛
Her being emotionally intelligent and a good planner also helps. She may not be the strongest but she’s done a lot with what she has. Solid support class. Also she the one who consistently keeps The Boys (tm) on task for the team ups. And even when she dies, she makes sure it counts. And even then she comes out with W’s on world Enders on solo movies more often than she doesn’t. I really hope we get a Mothra movie in the future. From most reactions I’ve seen she’s absolutely a fan favourite. My mom’s favourite for sure and absolutely mine.
Funfact: mothra was born with the earth, therefore she's its natural champion and was even worshiped as an ancient goddess by the inhabitants of infant island, where she often took refuge. At some point she was even given the nickname "angel of the clouds" due to the angelic aura shes given off during battles. Mothra always being on the side of good, equality, and balance is also evident of her status as a queen often defends and protects her subjects, even if it is an entire earthly amount.
Awesome reaction guys😊This is absolutley my favourite Godzilla movie by far!! Serizawa is the perfect example of how we can coexist witht he titans love his relationship with Godzilla.I will always be team Godzilla love that he meets his match and arch nemesis King Ghidorah his relationship with Mothra Queen of the monsters and there relationship how she gives her life to power him up as he becomes burning Godzilla the waves he emits having her wing patterns and cries and how he beats Ghidorah and acends to become King of the monsters.I love Rodan and all the new monster in this movie too.Two of my favourite shots are when he rises healed from the ocean and looks up at the sky and uses his beam, and the symbiotic relationship we can have with him with him standing before Ghidorah with the jets behind him so badass and just to top it off the song during the end credits!!
King Ghidorah roar is my alarm clock sound and notification sound. It's funny how many people when they hear it they recognize it and ask where they can download it.
I thought it was better than the 1st one, the way they are building up the Monster-verse and Monarch is great. Godzilla vs Kong is next. Then the "Monarch" TV series on Apple TV in a few months. 🦖🐉
This movie always bring out my tears. Probably because of the sound effects. And the fight scenes are beautiful even it is too much of destruction matters.
31:51 Not only will there be a new movie next year but also a new tv show coming out later this year in November, right around Godzilla’s birthday! November 17th to be specific, the show is called Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the first two episodes release on the 17th and then it’ll be a weekly thing all the way to January of next year just in time for the new movie. The show is a prequel to the movie you just watched and a sequel to Godzilla 2014
I love that look Godzilla gives Rodan as the other Titans gather around him after delivering the killshot on the last Ghidorah head with his Atomic Breath. That look could ONLY mean "Bow down or die". Also, if you don't recognize Dr. Ilene Chen and her twin sister Ling Chen....their actress, Ziyi Zhang played Hu Li in *Rush Hour 2*. And Ice Cube's son shares his dad's name: *O'Shea Jackson Jr.* . He's best known for portraying his dad in the biopic *Straight Outta Compton* . I'm ecstatic that they used samples of roars and music from the original Toho Studios Godzilla movies.
Monster zeros actual name from the original movies is ghidorah. Mothra and Rodan the fire bird creature are as well original monsters from the old movies. So yeah it was nice to see them add classic movie monsters that us fans really loved.
Another cool detail that you can pick up on is that all 3 of ghidorahs heads have distinctly different personalities between them. I hope he gets a chance to rise again, loves seeing him on the big screen
Godzilla was always the king which is why Ghidorah could take over until he was out of commission. Yeah I never was so happy Kong was on a far out island because he would have got put on a shirt😂😂
Funny how all three main actors from Straight Outta Compton play in this series , the two actors that played Eazy E & Dr. Dre play in Kong Skull Island & Ice Cube jr. plays in this film
8:12 meet.......King Ghidorah The Hydra Monster... One of the first of the OP monsters Godzilla often has to fight... The names of each of the heads are as follows The RIGHT HEAD 🐲 ( Your left ◀️) Ich, the Main HEAD 🐲 (the head in the middle) Ni (To ich, and Ni are often side with one another) the Head 🐲on its LEFT (YOU'RE RIGHT ▶️) is San or Kevin( San or KEVIN isn't as bright as his other heads and Ni is always getting on Kevin especially when Kevin fucks up. When i first saw King of the Monsters in theatre, and i heard where they even used some of the original score from the TOHO Godzilla movies, boy i was in heaven. Once was during the first fight between Godzilla and Monster Zero, i believe theres one other part but i cant remember. So many classic Godzilla monsters in this movie with Mothra, King Ghidorah/Monster Zero, Rodan. Theres still so many more. Im waiting on Gigan. I didn’t love the way they handle one thing in Godzilla vs Kong, but none the less its an amazing movie. I wont spoil anything. I grew up Godzilla and love him so much, its just a nitpick. The actual Godzilla is like a horror movie and I love the vibe....King Kong is good. But the best of all is Godzilla : King of the Monster. The last part is amazing too But you guys are nuts. This is the best of all. I watched all these movies on IMAX. It was amazing.
so here's the thing. since gojira killed her son, she decided to wipe all the monsters out of existence. and only the strongest of em could do that so she planned on releasing gidorah according to her one big monster existing in Earth is better than hundreds of small monsters

@@danieldickson8591 they won't THAT bad, they were bad, but not taht awful
I really hate her character. She uses bad language right at the outset, and seems a brat to me
If you ever get into any classic monsterverse movies, I highly recommended Rodan. Quality-wise it is one of the best ones, an absolute banger for its time.
The oxygen destroyer is what was used to kill the very first Godzilla, and a component in the monster Destroyah from the 90s. It was a decent nod to those movies to use it in this one.
What I loved about this version of Ghidorah is how they showed the different personalities of each head.
The next movie the character writing is at its all time low
@@jurtmcgurt6969 true, but this time Kong was the absolute protagonist, not the humans
I think it had the worst human characters personally. Mark's stort arc was poorly done imk
in my opinion, the characters with the most personality belong to the netflix skull island series
@@jacobsonstudiosgoji I have to agree, I was counting just the live action
I love that this movie had multiple callbacks to the 1954-56 original movie. Dr. Seizawa is the same name as the professor in the original. ( I know he is a descendant), and the oxygen destroyer is the weapon used against Godzilla.
5:06 was sooo LOUD in the theatre lol
16:21 This scene is so haunting. Sends chills down my spine whenever I see it.
"Thank god he's on our side"
Well, actually no, Godzilla isn't on the human's side, he's on the side of life.
Fun Fact: Rodan moves so fast because he is the fastest in the monsterverse
Here's something you didn't noticed is that Godzilla dorsals plates are different is because in it's prequel comic Godzilla: aftershocks Godzilla's original dorsal plates got destroyed during a fight with a more powerful muto Muto Prime and after Godzilla went to his home to regenerate his plates.
They can retcon the comic easily.
Thank you so much for reacting to this, the fight scenes of this movie are fantastic, the Godzilla and Mothra relationship along with Doc sacrificing himself for his old friend is great (the story with the mom is annoying but other than that its fantastic!)
this movie gives me goosebumps every single time, i hope you guys are gonna check out the new one next year im so excited!
I just mentioned those Trailers too! Cause those are Awesome!
Let’s go I have been waiting for this reaction for a while now. HYPE
Defenetly a 10/10 (or at least 9/10)
Also all the titan’s themes are perfection.
KOTM is easily my favourite of the four movies, it's such a classic Toho movie from start to finish
18:38 Mothra is always on humanity’s side, she’s always portrayed as the protector of earth
I've fallen in love with the idea that Ghidorah is symbolically the Lucifer of the Godzilla franchise
And the display and representation of this demon is absolutely phenomenal
To put this into perspective for you, Godzilla and King Ghidorah's rivalry is the kaiju equivalent of Batman and Joker.
These two *HATE* each other, and their battles are always some of the most violent and destructive across each era in the franchise.
@Ciffer-1998 I don't see how, Ghidorah was literally _winning_ until Godzilla, Serizawa, and Mothra pulled that burning mode out of their collective asses.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim
It went both ways, the novel even confirms it.
Godzilla started fresh off Serizawa's nuke and was really putting on the pressure. When Ghidorah absorbed Boston's power supply is when it immediately turned.
If they're like Batman and Joker whos Destroyah's equivalent? Bane? Sounds about right lmao
@@TheBombasticFatRat I could see it
Godzilla: Ghidorah!
Ghidorah: wussup?
Godzilla: I NEVER YIELDED! AND AS YOU CAN SEE I AM NOT DEAD
Ghidorah: All that challenge shit over with, I'm the Alpha now.
Um, she also has her Stingers and Her godrays.
Love that you go "HE's THE GUY FROM GAME OF THRONES..!" and I am so old that i go "THATS THE GUY FROM ALIEN 3.!" 😀
I don't think you caught it but Joe Morton (Cyborg's dad) is playing an older Houston Brooks, the same character from Kong Skull Island.
Nuclear Godzilla was literally 🔥
Mothra, is actually *Queen of monsters* alongside of Godzilla a.k.a *"King of Monsters"*
Great reaction guys keep it up ❤
Awesome reaction guys😊This is absolutley my favourite Godzilla movie by far!!
22:38 “it scared me”
MAN you should’ve heard that in theaters 😅
Rodan: Where the weeds I know you have them Me: Ah Dante dotson
The way zhang ziyi's character talks about mothra is so reflective of how the fairy twins watch over mothra with such care and reverance.
Y'all they teased Kong in the credits...
And a Mothra egg. 😊
King Ghidorah roar is my alarm clock sound and notification sound. It's funny how many people when they hear it they recognize it and ask where they can download it.
🔥🔥 Godzilla such a great masterpiece
Godzilla Minus ONE 🦖💪👏🙌🙏👍🎉🇯🇵
I thought it was better than the 1st one, the way they are building up the Monster-verse and Monarch is great. Godzilla vs Kong is next. Then the "Monarch" TV series on Apple TV in a few months. 🦖🐉
Everytime They mention skull island,,,i got goosebumps ❤.
saw this movie in theaters when it came out still my favorite godzilla movie because godzilla truly is the king of the monsters!
This one and GvK are tied as my favorite movies ever! One I go to for story which is this one and the other I go to for action
This movie always bring out my tears. Probably because of the sound effects. And the fight scenes are beautiful even it is too much of destruction matters.
31:51
Not only will there be a new movie next year but also a new tv show coming out later this year in November, right around Godzilla’s birthday!
November 17th to be specific, the show is called Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the first two episodes release on the 17th and then it’ll be a weekly thing all the way to January of next year just in time for the new movie. The show is a prequel to the movie you just watched and a sequel to Godzilla 2014
One of the last Godzilla movies I watched with my cat. She LOVED watching a lot of those movies with me 😢
The Sound Design and Music in this movie were crazy
In Colorado, We have wolves, bears, rams, MOUNTAIN LIONS!!!!
You should do Godzilla minus one next!
Kevin is the fan favorite of the three.
the soundtrack for this movie is bonkers like real good bonkers
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
@The Perfect Mix sorry i miss ur videos our light got cut off so mom had to pay the bills
Fun fact: Mothra is immortal, as soon as she dies she is reborn as an egg then transforms again
9:41 that's what she said!
god vs king .. 😎 can't wait.
Tell you what man, seeing this in Imax was something else.
To me this is the best of the 4 monster movie's, i love King of the Monster's.
love the girls smile as she watches planet ending doom come escorted by planes! legend!
Combined Ghidorah is all about total subjugation and destruction....
25:40 dont worry guys, she have eggs in case she die, she will reincarnate in one of them, so she will be back
Godzilla first movie Gojira 1954
Mothra's first movie was Mothra 1961
Rodan first movie was Rodan 1956
King Ghidorah first movie was Ghidorah the Three headed monster 1964
“Godzilla” the first reaction lol
My favorite react channel. Love these 2
Imo this is the best (or one of the best) Godzilla movies if you like the "vs" style movies of Godzilla fighting as the hero etc.
i love your videos so much guys
After his rating, "That's disrespectful". 🤭👍
This movie came out like 4 years ago..
Godzilla fans Assamble here ❤ 🌊💯
You guys should see your face when godzilla become atomic godzilla and blown up everything😂but that seen is epic
I love this movie so much. There all so epic and amazing. Y’all are going to love Godzilla vs Kong and i cant wait for y’all to see it. Awesome reaction. Glad y’all are liking the Monsterverse.
Says "Loved It" and proceeds to give a 6.5 rating 😂😅😭
Long Live The King👑👑🦖
Im pretty sure the island of adventure ride is based in 2005 King Kong. Which is also a wild 3h movie
The actual Godzilla is like a horror movie and I love the vibe....King Kong is good. But the best of all is Godzilla : King of the Monster. The last part is amazing too But you guys are nuts. This is the best of all.
I watched all these movies on IMAX. It was amazing.
so here's the thing. since gojira killed her son, she decided to wipe all the monsters out of existence. and only the strongest of em could do that so she planned on releasing gidorah
according to her one big monster existing in Earth is better than hundreds of small monsters
1:47 you guys censored it at the exact moment. 😂
