@@kenshyura All commands in Diskpart can be shortened to 3 characters eg you can type 'SEL DIS 0' rather than 'SELECT DISK 0'. I did assume this was because it only parsed the first 3 characters of the command but on further checking this is not the case and it does still validate the whole string. You can enter more than 3 characters as a partial command but they must still be a correct part of the full command eg 'SELE' and 'SELEC' will work as alternatives to 'SELECT' but 'SELC' and 'SELCE' won't. That's why 'EXI' works. Still very odd behaviour though!

So on the youtube tip: I discovered that if you just type: not, the screen will change to theater mode and viceverse, if you type: cool, the video will go forward 10 secs and if you type: back the video will pause lol. I tried all that while watching the last part of your video.
I know why they disabled "window shake". It's because some people (including me) do sometimes shake their windows without the intention to minimise something. I like that they disabled it.
For folks who have dual monitors, you can easily move the active window to the other monitor and back again by pressing the Windows key and Shift and then tap the left or right arrow key to pop the window to the other monitor. The other tips I already knew but don't really use much. Thanks for another good video.
Right click and drag to select copy/move is very cool. I use that one all the time. You can also click+drag while holding Ctrl, shift, or Alt to force Copy, Move, Create Shortcut. Snipping tool is very helpful. If you want just the active window, you can also press Alt+Print Screen and you will get just the active window. There is an option in the Snipping tool for this as well. Shortcut for Task Manager (I learned about this a couple months ago and kick myself for not knowing this one) is to press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. What a time saver! Alt+Tab is something I would not want to live without. You can also use Windows+Tab for a slightly different way to see what you have going. Your UA-cam tip was both cool and useless as you said. Thank you for sharing. I am very old school and love keyboard shortcuts. There are so many that I won't list them here and it could be an entire video! Back in Windows 95, Microsoft introduced a new set of Cut/Copy/Paste keys that are still there and even some Microsoft applications don't recognize while most apps to. They are Ctrl+Ins (copy), Ctrl+Del (delete), Shift+Ins (paste), Shift+Del (cut). Why would anyone ever want to use these? I use them 99% of the time for cut/copy/paste. The only times I don't is when they do not work. I use them because I mouse, or to be more accurate, trackball, with my left hand. This leaves my right hand free to use the numeric keypad which was very handy while doing some CAD stuff back in the day. Using these alternate cut/copy/paste keys allows me to use my right hand for those functions. If you ever do a keyboard shortcut video, I would be glad to send you all of the ones I have in my notes and I can try to add to that all of the ones I just use and are not hard coded in my brain. Windows 10 Control Panel Shortcut - left click on Start, scroll all the way down through programs (I refuse to refer to them as Apps🙄) to "Windows System", expand, and there's a Control Panel Shortcut, right click for options or drag it to copy to your desktop. There's also lots of other useful shortcuts in there & also in "Windows Admin Tools". Windows key + D, minimises all your open windows & takes you straight to you Desktop, and back again if needed. Hope someone might find those useful 🙂
Not only can you open new tabs and windows with middle mouse button, you can also close tabs and windows with the middle mouse button 👍 I didn’t know CMD had builtin transparency. I started using Autohotkey a few years ago and with it you can set the transparency of each window and make them always on top of other windows (task manager has always on top built in) In the task manager, performance tab, if you double click on the meters on the left, it will shrink the window size to fit just those meters Win + E opens File Explorer. I learnt that one back when WinXP was a thing and it’s probably my most used shortcut Win + (1-0) will open the app in your taskbar corresponding to that number
The translucent terminal is something new to me, and I'm definitely going to use it 👍 Ctrl + Alt + Tab achieves the same as Alt + Tab, but it locks on the overlay so you don't need to hold down on the keys. In addition to Windows + V that same applet also has emojis and unicode faces (can also be summoned with Win + .). For instant search, just press the Windows key, it will summon the start menu and anything typed will automatically be imputed into the search. Seriously Microsoft needs to to faffing about and wasting precious time with the extra search bar, as the search has been integrated into the start menu since it's adoption in Windows 7.
For hiding icons.. I have a folder on my desktop I Named "Stuff I use" and I use it to store programs I use almost daily when working on computers This is how to do it R-click on the folder Click Properties/Customize Then Click Change icon. Search pick one of them listed or you can find one online (that you like and download it) I personally make my own custom icons and use them.. I am also a computer tech and doing that on one click you have all the programs you need when working through my own computer, I also have subfolders named for what ever the programs are for.. I have a SDD in a hardcase with the same subfiles, I just plug it into the computer I am working in and everything is there, including working notes and some videos to refresh my memory.. I just recently was told about the Control Prompt trick about 2 days ago It also works on Powershell.. Love the new tab tip, I normally hold the control button and click on what I want in a new tab.. Very cool.. Most of the rest I knew, but the bonus, I knew of it, My grandkids use it all the time, It should have a warning, it causes some people to have full blown seizures. For me if gives me a bad headache and makes it hard for my eyes to focus.. Except for the bonus, I enjoyed it and most of them.. also on the screen shot, my main computer won't let me size it, just sends it to pictures.. Thank you for sharing.. Sorry for rambling on so..
Okay, i knew about the snip tool windows/prnt sdr , windows/shft/S and the deep clipboard, and im a Task Mgr and God Mode wizard, i use the TM all the time... i did NOT know about the shake, or the middle mouse button or the fade terminal opaqueness, that red line dazzler made me an epi lept tick
If you want a perfect printscreen of a specific window, instead of snipping it with the snipping tool, just make sure the window is selected and press and hold: Control + Alt and press print screen. Then you can paste to a word doc or paint or email, a perfect screen capture of just the selected window instead of your whole desktop and instead of using the snipping tool.
Knew them all, other than your bonus. Cool stuff to know though and often show my clients some of these tips. I'm a tech too, with my own business. I do residential and small business. One that you should probably have in there though. You used the middle mouse button for opening a new explorer window from its taskbar button. I just press Ctrl+N to open a copy of the current window and then navigate to where I want. I'm not sure if this works any different with Win 11. I'm currently dual booting and I've spent more time on 10 as it performs better for me. The tip I use the most on this set of them is likely the right click drag of files. I'd also include this with that. If you are doing a normal drag between folders that are on the same drive, it will move by default. If you move between folders on different drives, like a thumb drive or network drive, it will copy by default. Thought the reality is, especially noticed when moving larger files, Windows actually copies the file and then deletes the original upon completion. Great video though. Been starting to watch your channel for the last few months.

3- As you know, Prt Scr (Print Screen) copies an image of the whole screen to the clipboard. But if you hold down the ALT key when pressing Prt Scr, it copies only the currently open window. (Whoops, I see someone below has already suggested this.)
If u type dxdiag in search bar u can check ya system info quit easily as well Gpu driver details . Also there is a power shell command can that can update all your apps on your computer in one command ……
I use Greenshot for my print screen uses, it's so much nicer than the built in stuff (although it's getting better) and I have Printscreen button mapped to capture region (with zoomed in preview and crosshairs)
The tip for the control panel... when you open the control panel go to the top left of the page where you see control panel with a small arrow, click on the arrow and a menu will open up. Click the first one that says all control panel items. All options now show up.
If you want to capture a window instead of drawing the box, just select the middle box (window snip) from the "dialogue" box that pops up at the top of the screen then click the window you want to capture.
Holding down the CTRL key while dragging will copy an item to a destination, instead of moving it there. Works in most IDEs/text editors as well. No right-clicking/mouse moves required.
Finally some new tricks. I worked with Windows my whole life and I learnt so much from you. My favorite was for sure the transparent command prompt I copy IP's regually so this will help.
You can allso use middle mouse button click on open tabs in brave/chrome to close unwanted tabs. This allso works when holding down ALT+Tab to close programs. Even middle mouse click links on the favorite bar opens them in new tab. I still runnng Windows 10 on my main PC, but I do have a Windows 11 test PC with Dev Insider Program, and seconds in clock looks like its comming back. And theres some roumurs that ungroup and titles taskbar is comming back as well (hoping for it to come back).
The one thing I wish I could do on Windows 11 Pro (non-S) is get rid of the "recommended" section on the start menu completely using a native Windows tool. You can do it for "S" mode using Policy Editor, but it does not work with "normal" versions. Yes, I have removed the ability to show items completely, but the section is still there.
A couple were new, a couple I forgot about like shake. The one I will be using is the mouse wheel click to open links in new tabs. I knew it worked to open programs in the task bar, but not links. Thanks.
The right click and drag trick has been around since windows 95. It was taught to me in college but I was kind of a computer nerd before then and knew about it anyways. Graduated in Y2K.
In additon to opening a link in a new tab, the middle click will close an open tab. Instead of right-clicking the task bar and clicking task manager, you can press ctrl+shift+esc. Unless 11 broke that... I didn't know all the small details available in task manager myself. Nor the 'bonus tip', though I won't be using that one.
Nice! At least 4 tips were new to me including the cmd prompt and copy/Paste. Question on the Task manager: your Base speed shows 3.5 GHz but actual speed is 3.86 GHz ? Is it overclocked?
one thing i'm trying to figure out is turning on seconds in the windows 11 system tray clock. I have build 22621.1194. it should have been available via a check box in settings from an earlier build. apparently the registry tweaks etc. no longer work, but I have not tried them yet.
I didn't know about the translucid terminal shortcut. One you didn't mention is you can take a screen shot of the active window by pressing alt + print screen it does not save the image though it only copies it to your clipboard.
I won't use the middle mouse button again to open something in a new tab. The moment that I used it, half of my open programs became unusable and when I hit ctrl alt and del to bring up task manager, it came up with a blank screen followed by a prompt that said my computer was running low on memory, followed by the screen going black and the machine locking up, requiring a hard boot. It does it every time I try too. I knew about half the tips. My fav was the transparent command prompt.
You can open copies of file explorer also be holding shift and left clicking on the taskbar icon. ctrl+shift and left clicking on a taskbar icon opens it as administrator.
I open new tabs all the time every day, and I didn't know to use the center mouse button. This will be VERY useful for me. OMG, and the same thing for the Explorer window.
Tons of stuff can be opened by right-clicking Start button and accessing them there. Control panel tools, File Explorer, Task Manager, Device manager etc.
i knew most...to save space on taskbar i have this pc and control panel pined to start menu...go to file explorer...clickon uparrow...then goto those items and right click on them and pinto start meue
I like a lot of these Thanks! I can use the extra knowledge about task manager. I do not see a temp for my video card. I'm using an AMD FireproW2100. ALSO I use screen shots a lot to make how-to pages for the people I help (mostly older people) who need a printed instructions sheet. I quit using the built in screen capture and down loaded a FREE program called Greenshot. It allows you to edit the clip then save to clipboard, print and other items. . I can edit the screen shot and paste the edited version into word instead of using words editing. Check it out. I would also add hitting the start menu and typing "About". Lots of info there.
Some of these tricks. Where actually mistakes that developers found. And sent it out to other developers. We liked it and keep it the software. Thats why there not really advertised in the what the call a manual.
Using the middle mouse button on any of the apps pinned to your taskbar that support multiple instances will open up a new instance, actually. I use it for notepad a lot...
I miss the “peak at desktop” feature in the bottom right of the taskbar where it would show you you’re desktop by just hovering your mouse of that area. Windows 11 took that away :(
I don't understand how right-clicking drag&drop is a tip as that is something I learned about the very same day I first used a PC, but I guess everyone has different experiences. My favourite tip is Alt+F4. Yes, it closes the open window, but if there is no open window it will instead open a small window with all the options of the shutdown button like it used to be in XP and Vista. And the best part is if you decided to turn the PC off and then realised you forgot to do something if you open up that window and hit Cancel fast enough the new command will supersede the old and abort the shutting down process; or at least it was like that in windows 7.
TIP: If you left click on the settings icons in the legacy control panel, ‘some’ of them now take you to the new settings app. However if instead you right click and select open it will still take you to the old classic settings.
There's some really useful stuff here. I have my snip tool bound to one of my extra trackball buttons so I can access it quickly. All I did was make a custom shortcut for it, and bound the trackball button to it. It makes things a lot easier if I wanna use rectangular snip. I didn't know you can access your clipboard history though. That's damn useful for sure. Thank you!
Thank I did learn someting, I did not know how usefull the TaskManager can be for cpu, memory etc.. Nice one. BTW, with Alt+Tab and with any browswer you can close app or tabs just by clicking the wheel on your mouse 😉.
If you want to screenshot the active window you can just press ALT+PRTSC and not have to use the snipping tool for this purpose

You can make the CMD window transparency stick. Just right click the titlebar, select properties/colors and set the opacity using the slider.

A few people have mentioned that. I can see how it would be annoying if you didn't intend to do that.

For me, the best tips are WIn+Shift+S to make a screenshot and Win+Shift+Arrow Key Left/Right to move apps between monitors.

I found that by holding control shift and rotating the mouse wheel, you can increase or decrease your desktop icons.

In additon to opening a link in a new tab, the middle click will close an open tab.
Instead of right-clicking the task bar and clicking task manager, you can press ctrl+shift+esc. Unless 11 broke that...
I didn't know all the small details available in task manager myself. Nor the 'bonus tip', though I won't be using that one.

Nice! At least 4 tips were new to me including the cmd prompt and copy/Paste. Question on the Task manager: your Base speed shows 3.5 GHz but actual speed is 3.86 GHz ? Is it overclocked?
No, the base speed doesn't take into account the factory boost speed. This CPU commonly hits 4Ghz under load.
one thing i'm trying to figure out is turning on seconds in the windows 11 system tray clock. I have build 22621.1194. it should have been available via a check box in settings from an earlier build. apparently the registry tweaks etc. no longer work, but I have not tried them yet.

For the most part, middle mouse button is the same as (depending upon particular context) either shift-left-click or control-left-click.
I didn't know about the translucid terminal shortcut. One you didn't mention is you can take a screen shot of the active window by pressing alt + print screen it does not save the image though it only copies it to your clipboard.

I won't use the middle mouse button again to open something in a new tab. The moment that I used it, half of my open programs became unusable and when I hit ctrl alt and del to bring up task manager, it came up with a blank screen followed by a prompt that said my computer was running low on memory, followed by the screen going black and the machine locking up, requiring a hard boot. It does it every time I try too. I knew about half the tips. My fav was the transparent command prompt.
Wow, that's strange. I've never seen that before. Maybe your mouse driver is messed up.
You can open copies of file explorer also be holding shift and left clicking on the taskbar icon. ctrl+shift and left clicking on a taskbar icon opens it as administrator.
I open new tabs all the time every day, and I didn't know to use the center mouse button. This will be VERY useful for me. OMG, and the same thing for the Explorer window.
Tranparency works in Powershell aswell. Going to use that a lot!

Tons of stuff can be opened by right-clicking Start button and accessing them there. Control panel tools, File Explorer, Task Manager, Device manager etc.
i knew most...to save space on taskbar i have this pc and control panel pined to start menu...go to file explorer...clickon uparrow...then goto those items and right click on them and pinto start meue

I like a lot of these Thanks! I can use the extra knowledge about task manager. I do not see a temp for my video card. I'm using an AMD FireproW2100. ALSO I use screen shots a lot to make how-to pages for the people I help (mostly older people) who need a printed instructions sheet. I quit using the built in screen capture and down loaded a FREE program called Greenshot. It allows you to edit the clip then save to clipboard, print and other items. . I can edit the screen shot and paste the edited version into word instead of using words editing. Check it out. I would also add hitting the start menu and typing "About". Lots of info there.
Some of these tricks. Where actually mistakes that developers found. And sent it out to other developers. We liked it and keep it the software. Thats why there not really advertised in the what the call a manual.
Using the middle mouse button on any of the apps pinned to your taskbar that support multiple instances will open up a new instance, actually. I use it for notepad a lot...
I miss the “peak at desktop” feature in the bottom right of the taskbar where it would show you you’re desktop by just hovering your mouse of that area. Windows 11 took that away :(

I don't understand how right-clicking drag&drop is a tip as that is something I learned about the very same day I first used a PC, but I guess everyone has different experiences. My favourite tip is Alt+F4. Yes, it closes the open window, but if there is no open window it will instead open a small window with all the options of the shutdown button like it used to be in XP and Vista. And the best part is if you decided to turn the PC off and then realised you forgot to do something if you open up that window and hit Cancel fast enough the new command will supersede the old and abort the shutting down process; or at least it was like that in windows 7.
I've been working on computers for a couple decades and I never knew about right click dragging. Definitely a tip I've used a ton since finding it.
in checking out the terminal transparency, control + wheel changes the text size.

TIP: If you left click on the settings icons in the legacy control panel, ‘some’ of them now take you to the new settings app. However if instead you right click and select open it will still take you to the old classic settings.
Just hold down the Control key while dragging a file to a different folder to copy it vs moving it. Been doing it this way for years.
Win+X / U / U (R, S) to shutdown (restart, sleep). Especially useful in case of no display.

There's some really useful stuff here. I have my snip tool bound to one of my extra trackball buttons so I can access it quickly. All I did was make a custom shortcut for it, and bound the trackball button to it. It makes things a lot easier if I wanna use rectangular snip. I didn't know you can access your clipboard history though. That's damn useful for sure. Thank you!
You can also set the PrtScrn to be the screen shot tool itself.

BTW, with Alt+Tab and with any browswer you can close app or tabs just by clicking the wheel on your mouse 😉.
