@mprendedor. Thanks, just wish there was something similar now. I guess 94-96 was our generation's 1965-67 in terms of really great, inventive British music. So we're lucky it happened at all.
@TheKontosuburbian. Spot on, totally. And to think, this is a LIVE version, it still sounds fresh and utterly riverting. No duff notes, no out of tune voice.
i guess to each his own. personally, to me, the peak was around 91-93. most creative and innovative stuff was coming out around that time. by 94, it was all becoming a little prepped out and mainstream.
Today, there are some great young rock bands around (I'm looking at you, Wolfmother) - it's just a slightly different sound (which is a GOOD thing - you WANT music to change over 15 years!) - and of course, it's not getting airplay on pop channels. Don't forget, the 90's also saw MTV and Brit awards going to sclub7, the spice girls and Brittney Spears.
I'm totaly agree with you. Although it doesn't mean that all those post rock garage bands of this decade are bad, they are more ephemeral than the 90's bands. I'll see another long argue about the subject coming. =|
In those great years of the 1990's bands like pulp, suede, Thr Manics, Radiohead and (the best of the bunch) Blur were a generally real reason to be excited about music. Nowadays bands like the killers, kings of leon and all of thier kind would not have even of got a mention back then. Thier just a poor relation to the great bands of a generation ago. I'm sure a bunch of spotty adolescent tweenagers will disagree with me because it's thier generations stuff. but deep down they know i'm right
@okkcomputer It's enough to say that Pulp and Blur are the best. Talking about what, in your opinion, sucks throws out negative vibes and starts arguments. And I think none of us wants that.
It would hardly be anyone elses opinion now would it? I suppose music must inevitably move on but I think there are many people who would say that they prefered where it was in the 90s, but just as many who don't I should imagine. :)

Yeah, music has never been as good since Blur split up and Oasis essentially decided to keep singing the sam songs over and over again under different titles.
Sigh ... you know, all of this "Ohhhh - music in the 90's was better" talk makes you sound OLD. I hate that "oh look at how old school I am" thing. It's as bad as the boomers who claim music ended with Led Zeplin or the day Lennon was shot. okay, yes there were a lot of great brit pop bands in the 90's, but I think people forget. Blur didn't become popular until Song #2, Oasis hit the bigtime fairly fast, but Pulp also took time to grow.
Pulp is the best band from the 90s on... and Jarvis Cocker is the most beautiful creature that ever lived.
Wow....I love the hair!
pulp and blur are the best
oasis sux big time
He looks like evil Spider-Man from Spider-Man 3.....
How weird that Jarvis plays Suede's She's not Dead at the start

Pulp Glasto 95 best gig I've ever seen.
Best pop band of the 90's. Better lyrics and melodies than other bands of the time, including that Oasis.

@okkcomputer It's enough to say that Pulp and Blur are the best. Talking about what, in your opinion, sucks throws out negative vibes and starts arguments. And I think none of us wants that.
Jarvis looks almost vulnerable without the glasses here.
It would hardly be anyone elses opinion now would it? I suppose music must inevitably move on but I think there are many people who would say that they prefered where it was in the 90s, but just as many who don't I should imagine. :)
Brilliant. He even manages to get away with playing the wrong chord at 2.45.
¿cantando en ingles y frances?
@HonkyCat90 why? am i wrong?
In your humble opinion I assume. It hasn't been the same but I wouldn't say it hasn't been as good =)

Why Jarvis have to look so hot?

in my opinion oasis blows them both out the water.
robert bromley who would comper the moon & the sun as equal?
In here is irrelevant who is the moon & who is the bigger sun, both are impressive.
Pulp is the best britpop group
Just no.
