I actually think Austin would have won that one if they did a proper benchmark. They did the test back when it first came out, and at launch it had a bug with 4 and 6 core Ryzen chips with SMT that would make it really stuttery to play. I had the same issue until version 1.05.

After countless days trying to monitor/purchase a 5900x and 3080 online, I finally did it. I left my house at 5:40am and drove 3 hours away to the nearest Micro Center in Chicago, when I arrived at the Micro center it was 15 minutes til open and there was a line of around 60 people(oh s*%t) already standing outside. I bundled up and got ready to stand in the 15 degree weather for my one chance...right as I got in line another guy was going to get behind me but he uttered "this is a lost cause" and proceeded to get in his car and drive off into his day. After waiting 30 minutes they started passing out vouchers for CPU's, I easily scored a 5900x as a lot of people were getting 5600/5800x's. Then the GPU vouchers started, I figured I had no way of getting one with so many people in front of me, but at least I got the CPU. As the guy with the vouchers got near me I couldn't help but to notice the stack was near nil, but I clenched by butthole and prayed...It turns out they had just enough 3080's left for myself and the two guys behind me. I'm now getting silly FPS with settings cranked up and loving PC gaming more than ever, and that says a lot for a 38 yr old boomer who built his first gaming PC at 20 yrs old. Two major lessons in life were reinforced that day - A. Early bird get's the worm, I actually set my alarm 10 minutes earlier as I was falling asleep that night just for extra cushion. B. Never give up, that guy behind me left and might still be looking for a GPU today when all he had to do was follow through with his effort. That was my first visit to Micro Center, but it will soon not be forgotten. Stay safe all 🤜🤛
