For me, I'd buy my car from a proven car company or at least a company with auto tech.

It's a business that has been propped up with the ill-gotten gain from land grabs through political connection and corruption.
They have virtually no car tech and no reputation in the auto market, they are only at the assembling level.
Over the last 10 years, all the tech-related businesses they ventured into have all failed and that includes the petrol car business.
Now they attempt to ride the EV sentiment by jumping on the EV wagon. However, their approach is pretty much the same as they did to their petrol car business.
This will end in tears again.

The company made a fortune in real estate by being given preferential treatment to acquire poor people's land for as little as $1/m2. That's why the company was able to start the automotive business. In addition, this car is currently in the red as it is sold, but it continues to receive preferential treatment from the Vietnamese government. In other words, if you buy this car, you are buying stolen property from a gangster who robbed poor Vietnamese people of their property.

@quinguyenmelbourne7680 Many leaders like Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, Albania's Hoxha, Venezuela's Chavez, and Indonesia's Sukarno, who contributed to independence in their youth, later oppressed their people through authoritarian politics. The fact that they achieved independence decades ago has nothing to do with how they treat their citizens now.
It's also true that Vietnamese who were driven out to countries like the U.S., Germany, or France in the past live much more prosperously than those living in Vietnam today. And it's a fact that their governments treat them better than your government treats you.
Everyone can guess but doesn't say that the recent terrorist incident in Dak Lak was caused by an ethnic minority who lost their homes and land. That's because if you say it, you have to be investigated by the police. In your country, even if there is an assault happening right in front of you, the police pretend not to know, but they diligently investigate if you say anything bad about the government. It's the same when they accept bribes on the streets, something that police in other developed countries don’t do.
The reason why your country appears to be functioning well without any issues is that there isn't enough freedom of the press. For example, if a high-ranking official wrongs you and you didn't capture it on your phone, you'll likely be the one who has to be investigated by the police. Who would believe that such a country treats its citizens fairly?
I am a foreigner who has lived in Vietnam for many years, and I've concluded that your country cannot thrive because of people like you who blindly support the government.
Let's see what happens to this reckless car company in the future.

Where Vietnam could win is by building a really cheap cars with cheap parts and easy to service. But invest heavily in state of the art infotainment features.
software, screens and connectivity are what’s driving demand for new vehicles. But there’s a huge population of ppl who can’t afford the new cars on the market but want one.
The major automakers are going in the opposite direction. They’re making bigger more expensive vehicles bc the mass affluent is their market
Vietnam could win by attacking from the bottom like the Japanese did in the 70s and 80s. But it’s unclear if the communist party in Vietnam has the stomach for the type of fiscal policies that enabled the Japanese window guidance.
That last point about how willing the gov will be to back them is the key point. Half of the video could’ve been allocated to that point alone. I’d want to better understand the ties btw the communist party and the CCP. That will drive a lot of what this company can and can’t do.

As said in the video traditional manufacturers will storm the market in coming years with cheap EVs in next 5 years. And then there's the hydrogen fuel cell technology. What if traction shifts to hydrogen based vehicles instead of EVs by 2030? Huge challenges ahead. Anyway best of luck to them from India.

For the near future I see low-end electronics, automobiles, electrical appliances, cheap mobile phones produced on a large scale in India. By 2030, finally a few economic clusters would have access to modern expressways(along with dedicated rail freight lines) linked directly to deep-water ports. The current economic growth will churn out more middle-class consumer demand for cheap local production. For the long term, India will obviously dwarf Vietnam as its population is more than 10x bigger. But for short term, lets see how much time India can leapfrog by 2035-40.

It is public transport we need to be focusing on, cars are bad no matter how you slice it- efficiency, cost, environmentally, they aren't even convenient because so many people have them that congestion is constant- sticking a battery in a car is just a way to absolve those who can afford them of any guilt they may feel about their continued desire to drive everywhere. Maintaining those roads (worse as vehicles get heavier by, say replacing an energy dense medium like petrol with batteries) and mining the materials for those cars has a horrendous impact on the environment. We have to accept that this addiction to car centered transport must end- they love their mopeds, how about an e-moped? Not profitable I guess when everyone wants large personal boxes. Guess that wouldn't make the rich man richer. Why would one want to be the Elon Musk of anything? He is devoid of morallity. Pretending to care about the environment with Tesla, whilst destroying the planet taking private jets and playing with his space toys!

Your comment didn't tell the truth about Vinfast. According to Vinamr, Vinfast Fadil not only topped the A-segment but also became the best selling model of the whole auto industry in Vietnam 2021, far ahead other big names like Toyota and Hyundai. Also, Vinfast EVs have dominated the Vietnamese EV market since 2021. In addition to a fleet of 200 all-electric public VinBus carrying 60 passengers at a time, over 1,000 Vinfast e34's (a smaller version of VF8) have been sold since Dec 2021. Surprisingly, there have been no problems reported after over 8 months on the road. Similarly, no serious issues have been reported about BMW electric i-series. Evidently, with a unique Italian design by Pininfarina, Vinfast EVs are German BMW based. In other words, Vinfast is just a more affordable version of BMW.

@@JWRame "they have no experience building cars. No brand recognition"??? It's clear that you did not fully understand all the EV makers. When Elon Musk first introduced the Tesla Roadster-first generation back in 2008, he had had ZERO experience in making any kind of cars including ICE cars. In fact, the first generation Tesla Roadster was based on a modified Lotus Elise flatform. Lotus engineering performed much of the rework and the Tesla was assembled on the Elise line in Hethel, England. By contrast, Vinfast had more than 4 years of experience in making ICE cars before transitioning to making only EVs. Fadil-a Vinfast ICE car had been Vietnam's best-selling A-segment car of the year, with the most powerful engine of its segment and a full range of comfort and safety features, but the most well-known one was the VinFast President, which was a BMW X5 powered by a GM V8. This gave the President its own personality!
