I love how every single person's reaction to nintendo switch sports is "They did it! Those aren't miis."
Thank god you can select miis though
@@ThatOneDudeWhoPostsStuff phew, i was about to be sad.
Yeah. Valid question. But it’s still funny.
The game doesn’t look as good as Wii Sports did. I mean half of the sports involve hitting an object over a net on to the other team’s side and I just am not fond of the new ascetics.
Idiots were screaming and raging about no Miis for minutes in chat even during the section were they had Miis on clear display.
God Nintendo Twitter/Chat is the most ungodly thing.

"It's like they mixed sandcastles with sand"
“It’s like they mixed Coke with Pepsi!”
"Its like they mixed TVs with media"
It's like they mixed shooting games with guns!
"It's like they mixed the Virtual Boy with neck strain!
I was confused why Arlo wasn't going "whoa, awesome" by the Earthbound announcement, but then I remembered what he predicted for the Earthbound series. Oof.
also, they're kinda like, games that should have already been on the service, honestly.
What did he predict?
@@darkychao It's kinda hard to get excited for roms. I mean, cool they're being acknowledged, but where is the new Earthbound stuff? Like even just a remake would be more fulfilling then the same games they've sold before.
The creator of Earthbound tweeted something regarding the direct so it was kinda obvious that something Earthbound related was going to be announced so it really wasn't a surprise.

Honestly one of my favorite directs in a while. There were so many great, out of left field games coming from Nintendo and third parties that got me so hyped! Four new first party games all coming out this year is enough to win me over.
@Telepture stop it

This was a very disappointing one. Nothing worth a full direct accept Kirby. So many ports and "remasters"
@@subject_changed4690 I don’t know. To me a new Xenoblade, Warriors game, Wii Sports successor, and Mario Sports games seems pretty direct worthy to me. Plus those remasters that you’re talking about are for games that haven’t been rereleased in any capacity for literal decades and are beloved by millions. I know none of this might be for you, but this was a big win for so many people.
Thank you - I wasn’t only one confused about pricing for Mario kart. It’s actually all courses waves for $25

Really cool to see live a live gerting that port/remake, its a really good game.

I’m honestly baffled it happened at all, in the best way possible. I thought the series stopped because it didn’t align with Ninty’s vision of Mario, but I’m glad to be wrong.
@@vvlaze I think the overwhelming success of Smash Brothers helped prove to Nintendo that they could put Mario and similar characters in semi-violent and edgy context and they wouldn't lose any fans or cause any controversy.

Mario Kart games traditionally have had 16-20 courses. Even 8 which was a huge game changer with course amounts has only 32. The DLC boosted it to 48. And then they just double it like nothing.
Wait didnt most Mario Karts have 32?

honestly, I'm really happy we're just getting double the amount of courses in mk8 deluxe for less than half the cost of a full game.. mario kart 8 deluxe feels perfect to me and I wouldn't wanna buy another full game if it was just more of the same, and idk how they could update it at this point.
Double Dash 2 would be pretty cool.
@@AltName7 with new items too maybe
Yeah, unless they completely reinvented the wheel there's no reason to prefer a new game with less content over doubling the content of an existing game for less, other the simple stigma of "old outdated, new fresh". Putting a different number on the box doesn't inherently change the product inside the box, afterall.
I had a similar confusion when people were claiming Smash 5 was "just a port" even after seeing new stuff.
@@AltName7 idk, that would feel like a step backward to me.. we can already get 2 item blocks with one character and that was basically the only gimmick besides specialty items, which inherently makes some characters better than others, instead of a balanced game

I’m a little sad boxing is left out of switch sports. But I do love that what was a tech demo became so popular and iconic they brought it back to a new console.

This Direct was playing in the middle of a class for me so I had to guess everything through audio as I drew concept art for the group's short film.
It... actually made things way more hype, especially Sploon, I might do it this way from now on!

I was in a business class during the smash direct that announced Steve and I remember wanting to just yell and then realising no one in class would care >.
*SPLOON*
This was a really nice direct. It has something for everyone and a lot of sleeper hits. Like wow, earthbound? Strikers? I was gasping so loud. I'm a little bitter we won't get a new Mario Kart until after 2023, but hey, new courses. Kirby looks amazing! (Twitter is probably going to have fun with mouthful mode). This was really enjoyable.
Aren’t we basically getting a new Mario kart though? There are only 48 tracks in the current game if I remember correctly, which is also far more than in any other game, and now we’re getting 48 more. It’s just the fact that the engine is recycled that I’d otherwise say they should just release this separately. Hopefully we get new characters like the last dlc too
@@jaybee27D sort of yah, I mean it would have been really cool if we got a new game. It's just been really long since we have gotten a new entry. However with this many new tracks it will definitely make people and myself play it more and come back to it. I guess the only thing left to do is sort of a super smash Bros style "everyone is here" with the next game. All courses and characters. I suppose if it isn't broken, then why bother to fix it.
@@Duelkitten I’d honestly say that’s what they’re doing with this game though. Like, 96 tracks in one Mariokart game? Most of which are from old games. That’s basically just having every previous track return. If we got 3 characters per 2 cups like the last dlc that would also mean potentially 18 more characters this time, which could also easily bring in basically every previous character (except for the insanity of Mariokart Tour). Realistically if we did get more characters they’d probably be more 3rd parties or more alts like Pink Gold Peach or Christmas Mario, but a man can dream. All that said, I think they’re kinda shooting for the same thing with this game as smash in just hoping to rerelease it forever with new content, because really, how do you follow up 96 tracks? That’s just not possible.
@@Duelkitten Considering Mario Kart is a game that Nintendo never releases more than one of per console, I don't get why people thought they would make Mario Kart 9 when the Switch already has a Mario Kart.
@@sergiomatheus3392 it's mainly due to the fact Mario Kart 8 was on the U and it's not really a new game on the switch, rather and upgraded port. I'm fine with more content but it's just...meh.., it gives a bad taste in my mouth after eating something filling. I like it, but it just leaves more to be wanted.

Hey baseball fan here, lemme give some context for the joke "I knew you were a true two way player but this is ridiculous!" in the MLB The Show trailer. To keep it simple, Shohei Ohtani is the only current player in professional baseball who both pitches and bats, whereas most pitchers do not bat (unless they absolutely have to). Honestly just based off his work on Mario Odyssey I'd say he's already made it. As much as I love the series (multiple) Shiggy created it really feels like he's past his creative prime, and stifling the Mario RPG series (multiple) hasn't exactly won him any points either. All the neat, new and weird stuff that made Odyssey what it is was definitely all Koizumi and Miyamoto just signed off on it (not to downplay all the actual visual artists and other team members, but you get what I mean).

We've all been *coconut malled*
I feel like whoever made that “F**kemon Go” adult film parody now has a new idea thanks to mouthful mode.
JRPG fans: AMAZING
Arlo: Great game, never played it
I'm hype for Fire Emblem, Chrono Cross, and Live A Live. I'm also cautiously excited for Kirby and Xenoblade. As a huge JRPG fan, this direct was great for me. Getting official English releases of Radical Dreamers and Live A Live is WILD.
Don’t worry, now that they’ve confirmed the pattern of February Directs, they’ll do it in January or March next year
That earthbound announcement would’ve been amazing if they announced that they were also bringing the original N64 version of mother 3, the internet would’ve imploded.
Honestly, this direct was overall very solid. I’m super hyped for Xenoblade 3, Kirby Forgotten Land, and Splatoon 3. Also, don’t know why I never thought about them doing a Fire Emblem Warriors game but I’m so happy they did one for Three Houses.
19:15 and yet you refuse to play Xenoblade
I have waited a long time for a new strikers game, that was my favorite announcement of the direct
"you just do the cloud version for 3 and then you give us KLONOA?!"
I never thought Arlo asking where Homer Simpson is would get me as much as it did.
Why do people feel so personally attacked when they dont get what THEY want. Nintendo isnt trying to ruin YOUR life
ture and wya do poople who know covid is thign btich at ntiendo for no m9 covid show shit down so they need thing baout the workers hearh not there own selfs
@@ssjgotenks2009 English?
Even if a lot of this isn't for me, I thought it was still a very good direct
Pretty much how I felt as well. Sure it didn’t have Zelda like everyone was hyping up, but it was overall a solid direct albeit not one for me
@@cheaqle same
Where’s my tomodachi life? :(
Strikers, Kirby, Switch Sports, and Splatoon were my highlights.
"You just do the cloud version for 3 then give us KLONOA???"
Mario Kart, give me all those courses. Mario Strikers, yes, finally - give me that. This was a fantastic Direct.
@Telepture No I didn't.
only mobile remasters for the courses sadly. no new characters :( rip diddy and funky
@@maegnificant only mobile? No it isn't.
@@pixelatedpigeon4617 yep.
@@pixelatedpigeon4617 they remastered a lot of old tracks for tour.
Decent showing of classic Squaresoft properties, even if none of it was really new. Was hoping for more news on the new Chocobo Racing.
Every Nintendo Direct is stuffed with old Square Enix games no one cares about. Need Square Enix to be banned from these directs do we can have time for cooler games
@cedrick For real, and the amount of octpath traveler clones are starting to annoy me too
@cedrick A lot of that has to do with the dissolution of Quest after S-E bought them out, and I think Matsuno became mostly burnt out with game development after resigning from FFXII (he has mostly worked on small projects since then, probably most notably that Tactics Ogre remake for PSP, but that Unsung Story game looks like it might be vaporware).
@@Riri03 Octopath Traveler clones?
@@Riri03 You'd just have a shorter direct. They don't have anything else to show you.
Man, his mood was immediately killed the moment Kingdom Hearts was on screen. I feel you, Arlo. The state of Kingdom Hearts on Switch is... Well... Heartbreaking.
Don't you mean the situation is "heartless" (okay i'll stop)
Wait how so? Why? What’s going on?
@@AsdfAsdf-mi6ks Square Enix didn't actually port Kingdom Hearts to Switch. They put all of them on the cloud service instead of mildly inconveniencing themselves by porting it. You have to be tied to a very fast internet connection to play them, which kind of defeats the purpose of the Switch. If your power goes out, your game session is halted and you lose your progress.
@@TheAbsol7448 WTFFFFF THATS TERRIBLE!!
Highlights for me were Mario Strikers: Battle League, HD-2D LIVE A LIVE (seriously, you have no idea how much of a big deal this is, or how ambitious and ahead of its time LIVE A LIVE was, it's so incredible that we're finally seeing a western release for this game), Klonoa, Chrono Cross and the Portal coming to Switch, and the first two EarthBound games FINALLY coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Also "Carby" is extremely cursed but I kind of like it.
Edit: THANK you! I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who was disappointed we're getting "just" courses and seemingly no characters.
Arlo, you MUST play Klonoa! It’s one of the best platformers of all time!!!!!
I’m so excited for XENOBLADE 3
“I’m okay if there aren’t any bombshells this time”
Hahahahahaha
The fact that Strikers is considered separate from the other sports games really says a lot
Kirby looks way better than Mario Odyssey, and it blows my mind that no one else can see it.
I'm getting more of my 2 favourite games of all time this year. Elden Ring and Xenoblade 3. INCREDIBLE
The new Kirby game is basically just official, Nintendo licensed vore
I hate that you’re right but I cannot deny it u-u
Nice to see Arlos grandpa got to make a cameo in the MLB segment.
