just got one of these for a gift. got brain blocked when i seen the three outputs and other videos explaining how to set up. this video crushed it and now can add some old yamaha dual subs/tops and crown amps with a crossover from the dbx to my existing smaller qsc setup. six subs instead of just two is going to be fun. thank you!!
Thanks, Dude! This video was a tremendous help and tutorial. I've had my Driver Rack PA+ since 2012 and never really had it set up to suit my taste. I recently bought a Crown amplifier that wasn't listed in the presets, which forced me to manually dial in my settings. Before finding this video, I decided to do a factory hard reset and start from scratch. This video took me through the important steps and the results sound better than it ever did! Thanks for the time you took making this video! Great work and much appreciated!
If you have bass reflex woofers and can see the woofers, run test tones through them at medium volume and sweep down until tuning (you should see the cone move less and less) and then below tuning you will see it move more. For instance if your subwoofer is tuned to 35Hz, you will see the cone motion reduced at that frequency, then you can set your high pass at around 33.5Hz setting (you can get away with going a bit below tuning because the roll off of the processor should exceed the increased motion of the subwoofers). You should use the BW (Butterworth) 24 (dB/Octave attenuation) or LR (Linkwitz-Riley) 24 settings to high pass subwoofers. Live mics run full range and turntables are the main culprits for sending lots of damagingly low frequencies to subwoofers, that and someone requesting "Bass I Love You" at a DJ set. You can do the same with your mid-highs although setting the high pass slightly above the tuning will make it easier to match the phase of the subwoofers and tops. E.g. if the tuning of your top cabs is 80Hz, maybe 90Hz or so crossover. On my Subwoofers I would set the limiter if I had an amplifier bigger than my Peavey IPR1600 with DDT compression built in. The amplifier does seem to be matched well to about the maximum I would be comfortable taking my 12 subwoofers.
Great video but you have seriously missed the best trick this bit of equipment has. The auto EQ using the Dbx,s RTA mic. It’s turned some of my good PA systems into something that sounds incredible. Each to there own I guess.
Thank you for the assist I could not figure out. I am still confused about the BW. I'm trying to get a tight thump from my subs and a pristine clarity from my full range I stumble on a setting for the highs but the bass is still soft and without impact can you suggest the appropriate setting ?
Very informative video really helps with information to break it down when dbx did the tutorial on this it was known as clear as what you put out thanks for all your help
I gotta play with the low the new JBL EON618s goes down to 30Hz so do I roll it to 30 or start the butterworth at 30 hz? I think it should be cleaner if I roll to 30hz but will test.
I noticed there was no separate sub level control on this driverack PA like the Behringer had. This driverack pa definitely sounds better and it looks like I can use the eq control for sub level on the fly ty.
Just plug the XLR cable from the high output(s) into each powered "cab on stick", and if you have active subwoofers link from the XLR low outputs into the input of each subwoofer. If you are running two or more close together mono subwoofers or more than one per side stereo subwoofers you can daisy chain from the XLR out of one subwoofer into another. You may need to do some matching of input sensitivities on the powered cabs.
Thanks, instruction booklet is not helpful, however your explanation is great! It should help with the "clean up the sound" problem.....I did see the word "clipping" show up on the main display, I only had the main vol on the master mixer not even up to nominal and the driverack was clipping.....as I pulled down the master, at about 3db lower, the clipping dissipated, and the sound was great without all that shitty distortion. Thanks for tips for setting the perimeters on the comp/limiters....very nice explanation.

Honestly I just plug in and hope it does its job. Luckily there's videos like this that helps understand more this product.
08:08 EQ ,9:03 Com, 6:21 gain control, 10:03 Adjusting Threshold, 11:50 Limiter Setting
