      You know it's all about the storybook narrative. "The powers that be" want LeBron and his son to be the first active father/son duo in NBA history. It would make for an amazing narrative that will likely boost viewership, merchandise and tickets sales more than anything before, even Michael Jordan.
      People will want to see how well father and son play together and if they can/will win a championship together. It's great marketing.

      Nepotism is just the act of granting an advantage, privilege, or position to relatives or friends in an occupation or field. It has nothing to do with the worthiness of said person

    • @jaun74
      @jaun74 3 місяці тому +3

      I think the problem was them not agreeing on the actual definition of what nepotism is. It was only a debate cuz one didn’t have the true definition of what nepotism actually is. It's one player and he's still good. NBA good? That is to be determined. And his father is arguably the greatest player of all time. Why is everyone ignoring the fact that it's making history. There's clearly a reason why this is happening. No player is going to be able to challenge Mike or LeBron for a long time to no one will have this type of influence to determine a draft pick like this for their child. You can't copy bad and get good. If you have a bad copy of a music album or movie and copy it, it ain't gonna magically fix what was wrong with the original copy, you're just gonna end up with two bad copies instead of one.

      @@lastsam9846i think the point against nepotism is that it dilutes competition. Whatever arena you choose, an nba arena or corporate. Bronny took the spot of a person who put up better numbers than him. It’s essentially what capitalistic democracy isn’t, we went from kingdoms where the land was at the mercy of someone who’s in charge simply because of their name, to capital where some one is reaping the benefits of their talent and hard work. The NBA is essentially a monopoly so they’re not competing against other basketball leagues, they’re essentially competing for global viewership, so there’s a story in it for them to sell, one about nepotism babies which will definitely gain a lot of eyes. If the NBA had a legitimate competitor league, they’d be at risk of being closer to wwe and reality television than they are to a professional league. That’s not to say that they won’t get views, but those views would come with significant risk when it comes to betting and authenticity.

    I think what is alarming is that only powerful families as Lebrons will be able to have that nepotism but for the everyday people who don’t come from affluent families, those kids are having opportunities taken away. So what I’m hearing is that all these athletes / entertainers kids can jump the line the line in front of my kids and it’s acceptable bc they have money smh. Stop trying to normalize nepotism bc it’s simply unfair and especially in the black community.
    Y’all cappin about it’s been going on in the NBA but fail to name anything to this level of nepotism. Gianna’s brother was drafted to the Knicks bc he grinded and he didn’t even join Giannas until 2019. Austin Rivers won two championships in HS as the guy and was one of the top players coming out of HS as well as college. So no we ain’t ever seen no shit like this and it makes the league look like a joke bc nepotism doesn’t put the BEST ppl in positions therefore most things that are lead by nepotism don’t usually work out nor last. If the kid was eatin and had the clear skill nobody would be upset but none of this happened organically bc with sports ppl can watch your game and see if your a dude or not and it’s clear he isn’t developed yet so why force the issue unless this is not about winning.

    🤔That North West example was a great point & he couldn't handle it ... A lot of talented children, who work hard & were far more deserving of tht opportunity over North West but yet she's the one on stage .. Not sure why he couldn't comprehend that example .. She cooked these fools in this debate

    🤔 maybe the truth is that the NBA isn’t as good as it used to be. Players lacking fundamentals and defense isn’t as good as it used to be, so players like Lebron James Jr who are undersized and put up average numbers can make the league now. Showing us that it’s not about how good you are anymore, it’s simply about making money!

    Why everyone acting like he can't play. The had offers to play in college because I was nice. He had heart surgery and came back and finished the season. He's college stats doesn't reflect his game. He performed well in combine and games. How many people have actually watched him play before the heart problem?

    Nepotism is not a good thing. However it can be tolerated to some degree if the opportunity is given to someone with the right skill/talent for the job. Otherwise you would be discouraging people that truly deserve the opportunity , killing the industry and meritocracy as a whole.

    Of course Esso has it right. Bronny isn't qualified to be in the league. That's trash nepotism. Bronny wasn't the best player on his lame ass college team. Who enters the draft with a sub 5 point average? This isn't nepotism, it's absolute madness.

    Anybody saying Bryce is better is because they are hating on Bronny and never watched Bryce play 🤦🏾‍♂️
    The only thing Bryce has over Bronny is height . Bronny was way better at this stage . Bryce only has one offer for a reason

    Yes he do. Look at what his dad did for the league and if Jordan was able to get his kid in, I will be with that too. Be thankful for what these men did there still 398 other slots Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron did it for one of their kids I would be with that too, Tom Brady, etc. Giannis brother just surfing in the league 😂 Shut up
