I love all your dresses, especially the maxi one.I'm really pleased you've made vlogs for us to follow on the construction of the dresses.Your hair looks gorgeous.
Have you considered putting a side zip in so that the buttons at the front are purely decoration? I have made a toile in lining fabric and find that it gaps a bit when I sit down, even though the buttons are close together
You could. You would need to work out the amount of ease you wanted and size the pattern accordingly. I wold also probably eliminate the button closure and make it a pull over dress. Whilst doable there is a lot of work needed to make the changes so I'd probably have a look for a pattern already designed for jersey fabric and grab it during a pattern sale :)
Thank you for doing this!!! I have wanted to buy a dress from free ppl (love of my life) and bought this pattern. I love the looks and adjustments you made! They look beautiful on you!!!! I have a short torso so I would like to make adjustments for that and a more flared skirt. Do you think this is a dress that can be made from a silk charmeuse fabric or linen? What fabrics did you use for yours? ( I’m new but interested in natural fabrics) Thank you, new subscriber!!!!!! ❤️
Hi! I used rayon and cotton poplin for mine. I think silk and linen would work and look lovely. If you do increase the fullness of the skirt make sure that the gathering at the was it doesn't get too bulky 😊
Enchanted Rose has a video about the pattern alterations she made to the M7974, and in that video you can see how it looks in linen. She also has a live sew-a-long where she does the same dress again in rayon with flutter sleeves. I've just bought lightweight emerald-color linen to give this dress a try and I'm very excited about it :)
Thank you for this video! I am a beginner and I was looking for a review of this pattern: the dress is lovely, but I am afraid I would have to somehow alter the pattern in the cleavage area, since I'm only 5'3" ... Do you think it would be very difficult to do, or perhaps I should look for a different pattern of a similar style?
Americans never use the word jumper :D Maybe it was in 1950 but no one would know what you mean. LOL. Love the dresses! I have the pattern so great info. Thanks.
I spent some considerable time in Texas. A pinafore was definitely a jumper there. I got ribbing cos I DIDN’T know what a jumper was. Regional variation I suppose.
I love these dresses. I have no cleavage so I’d really have to raise the bodice by a lot 😂 However, your sewalong is useful for anybody who wants to fully line a bodice. ❤️💛❤️😘
Hey 😊 I was on holiday until the 10th and we've been having awful internet problems. We had two engineers here for 10 hours yesterday replacing everything and finally I can upload again! I have been updating the situation on the community tab here and in the Peeps group on Facebook. Sorry to have worried you x

Hi Siân!! You look amazing in all of the dresses.. thanks for the great review....

Love your dresses! They are beautiful and you look great in them!
I live how toy stock with a pattern until you have made it exactly what you wanted. It's very aspirational. Beautiful dresses as always. 👩🏿🎤💖

i have this pattern, thank you for the sew along and review xxx
I like how all of those dresses turned out but I think I like the bodice of number 3 the best....that collar and sleeves! 🤗
Can I use cotton Lycra for this dress, would it work?

I am debating between this and 1940th tea dress by SOI
Both? Both is good 😊😉
@@KittenishBehaviourSian SOI have less cleavage show lol better to go with that one
Love it, especially the sleeves. I've got that pattern too.
Im so bummed about this pattern. I purchased it in the wrong size. The dress look amazing on you.I love your choice of fabric.
I have a fondness for sleeves with ties...reminds me of my 1970s dresses.

I do show you how to raise the neckline in the sew-along 😊. Always make a muslin before cutting in to your special fabric 😉
@@KittenishBehaviourSian Thank you so much!
Like the dress, but the neck is way too low cut. Not sure why they do these types of patterns. Like the fabric though.
Hummmm - you and Rachel are good at recommending fabric stores for each other!
Love the dress
Siân all those dresses are so pretty on you! Christine 😻🇨🇦😻

It was still "jumper" in the 70s, but I think the term fell out of favor along with the style, except for children. Everything old is new again.😉😘
A "jumper" in the U.S. is what the UK calls (I think) a pinafore and is meant to be worn over a shirt or top.

@@39houndsteps Yup ... I wore jumpers in school (in California) and sewed them for my three daughters. 😹😹😹

Cute personality! And dresses are very cool except the neckline. I am short and prefer people to look at my eyes when thru talk to me.
