WYNDHAM ALLTRA PLAYA DEL CARMEN IS A TERRIFIC HOTEL - I AM STUNNED. Wyndham Alltra is perfectly located in the heart of downtown Playa Del Carmen and only 45 minutes away from the Cancun Airport.
I also stayed at Hilton Playa Del Carmen & Paridisus La Perla, two other great Adult-Only All-Inclusive resorts in Playa Del Carmen - Wyndham Alltra had the better food, location, and staff! Plus, it is cheaper than Paradisus & Hilton.
This vibrant adults-only paradise resort is ideally located on the Caribbean Sea just steps away from the famed Fifth Avenue’s shops, clubs and restaurants. From fun activities like beach volleyball and wine tasting to oceanfront swimming pools with waiter service, fill your day with as much or as little action as you’d like. Dining and drinks are always included, so savor world-class cuisine at delicious restaurants and sip craft cocktails from cool and comfortable bars and lounges. After the night’s live entertainment, retire to your peaceful accommodations, all featuring a private terrace, and get rested for the tropical pleasures tomorrow will bring.
Revel in an adults-only paradise along the idyllic Riviera Maya, steps from a breathtaking beach, fantastic shopping along 5th Avenue, and vibrant nightlife. Just 55 kilometers (34 miles) from Cancun International Airport (CUN), Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen, Adults Only All Inclusive offers the ultimate carefree vacation with unlimited gourmet dining and creative cocktails as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center, daily activities like beachfront yoga and aqua aerobics, and nightly entertainment. Take a dip in the sparkling pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the warm white sand, or get pampered at the full-service spa and salon. After a day of sunning, shopping, or sightseeing, you’ll love retreating to one of our 287 non-smoking rooms and suites, featuring a balcony or terrace for savoring the sunset and thoughtful conveniences like a fully stocked minibar, complimentary bath products, and free WiFi. Just got back from here yesterday and i am happy to report that the beach has been much improved since this was filmed. It looks like the sea washes it away from time to time and thus requires regular maintenance which has taken place. As of Feb 2024 is has been corrected and is now swimmable. I sat out on said beach every morning and drank my coffee while watching the sunrise. The only Issue remaining is the sea weed but the staff does tidy that up throughout the week as well and of my 7 days at the resort, only one day the beach was unusable due to sea weed. Anyways, rant over, this place was very very good for the money. Would return 100%.
Hope the beach is bigger now on this video it was not good
Much prefer this style of editing rather than the post-commentary. The in room 1-on-1 with the camera while still at the hotel gives a much more personalized and authentic feeling review.
Happy to see your Coolist editing style is back! Love all your videos!! 🎉🎉
Looks like a great place James. Thanks for taking us along man!
Big hi from Kelowna B.C. Looks very nice !! Thanks for sharing. Love all your videos on Vegas!
I stayed there around 1998 or 99. The beach back then was huge and went on forever, you could walk and only see a few people, nothing but wide sandy beach... The erosion that has taken place is massive.
Great review! I love the room decor. The columns are great and love the balcony. I could eat a few times at the Italian restaurant.
Another great video! Do you think you can include what month you are at each location? That could give us a bit of insight as to how the beach situation could at a given time with regards to ocean conditions, seaweed. Thanks!
Great review! It's nice to see how they've upgraded this resort since changing hands (a couple of times now). My wife and I were there in 2007 for our honeymoon. The Italian restaurant was our favorite place to eat.
We just may go back for another visit.
❤🎉❤🎉Fire show nice 😊
I love your videos . Keep them coming
Thanks so much for your videos.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing :)
Was looking to stay here when it was a Panama Jacks, but you hit it on the head with the beach, that's a deal breaker for me. Love your Resort Videos, keep up the great work! BTW, my daughter choose Riu Repuplica base on your review, she had a great time!
It looks beautiful there. Your three entry dinner was fun to hear about. The food looks amazing. Keep having fun!!
I still can't believe how much I enjoyed it, even with the uncooperative weather and disappointing beach.
Great video as always! Thanks James!
Yo West - thanks for you support!
Great review! Going in February, hope the beach is upgraded a bit by then!
Great video as always. Easily my favorite travel channel.
Appreciate that a lot
hey james been there yeats ago when it was part of the real caribe group ....i had the best time of my life just to let you know....sad to see that the beach area had no improvements ...on that note your vids are so informative keep up the great work
This used to be named The Gran Porto, the sister hotel of The Royal PDC (Hilton PDC now). If you were booked with The Royal, you used to have access to all the restaurant's and facilities of all the sister hotels both in Playa & Cancun.
Great work! Doing research for our trip and looking for great beaches over pool. I appreciate your honesty!! Made our decision easy.
(What's your favorite beach in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area??)
Love your reviews. I looked at this place for our adult family vacation. The beach was a deal breaker for us. We booked 3 Eden suite waterview rooftops at Ocean Riviera Paradise for September. We stayed at Grand Riveira Princess last time and loved it. 1 of the best buffets I've been to. Ribeye cooked to order every day.
So, No video on where you are heading?
I hope you hit the Excellence. I haven't been to 1 in Mexico yet, would love to see it.
Coolist coming through with yet another banger 💪💪💪💯💯
Thanks Robert! Stepping up the accommodations for the next hotel..
@@Coolist YESSSSSS!!!!! 💯💯💪💪💪💪
We just got back from staying at Wyndham alltra. Thanks for the review, it swayed my mind to choose Wyndham.
Wow. We will def book this for next year. My husband and I do a ton of all inclusives. I love your videos!
If you can get over their travesty of a beach it is a total gem. 💎
@@Coolist of all the resorts we’ve done the platinum Yucatan princess (budget property) has the worst beach. This one looks better than that one! We just got back from a trip to Couples tower Isle. I’d love to see you do reviews of couples brand. It’s vying for our fave resort now. Our current fave is Valentin Imperial Riveria Maya.
Love the content, any chance you're going to excellence riviera cancun in the future, really like look of it
Love all the content! Epic Vegas trip 2 coming soon?
Maybe 😎
Thanks!
Sunday greetings Mr James! I never stay at Wyndhams for the reasons you mentioned but I agree this looks like a nice property. The room balcony was very spacious. Pool Bingo ..yikes …you were correct to make a fast exit lol. And that beach was a tragedy for a tropical resort . All in all it seems like a decent place. Excellent work Sir 😎😎😎
Yo Anthony! The quickest ways to get me to leave somewhere is Karaoke or Bingo 😉.
I've seen better beaches in Vegas!
@@Coolist I’d pay good money to see a Coolist Luxury Hotels Karaoke video lol . Just kidding ….
Going in July and I can’t wait thanks for the tips!
We stayed there a couple of years ago and had an amazing time. Unfortunately the seaweed was a big problem back then but looks like it is better now. Don't think you mentioned the little coffee shop they have which had great service and also some very nice desserts and it was a highlight for me.
Nice review.. will have to see if you have done a review for Planet Hollywood as I am thinking of going there in a few weeks.
Hey buddy great video. Do you use your phone to record everything?
There are beautiful beaches east of that location in the undeveloped section of playa.
The food! Bet we ate all three entrees didn't we?! I say we because I imagine myself there, of course. Love the room (need tub) and the whole colorful ambiance. The beard lookin real good! 😎
Hey Val! This is about as long as it gets before it comes annoying and unmanageable
I like the pizza at the pool really cool! I like food at the pool!
I personally am ok with that beach no problems…The food looks absolutely amazing, overall place looks really nice. Weather is always a wild card right? A very helpful review, thank you once again man, you rock.
In the Caribbean, weather is always technically a wildcard I guess, but from early November - April it is pretty rock-solid & dependable sunshine ☀️
Hi James, i am vary impressed with this wyndham , usually when i think of Wyndham i think of the travel lodge, i will book this hotel next time, doctor quinn loves a good mattress when i'm getting ready to be knotty!
Nice and firm I'm sure 🔥
Thank you for your great video. The problem is we always want to lay on the beach with my husband so pool won't work for us. Do your recommend somewhere else with nicer beach? Thank you
Hello James, good review as always. You do a great job and I enjoy watching them. Side note...what brand are the shirts you wear? Thanks again!
In this video the shirts are Lapasa
@@Coolist Thanks a lot James!
nice 👍
Thanks
Excellent video as usual James!
Cruises coming soon??
Thanks Phre!! We will see - I watched some videos online and looks like a lot of cruises are still practicing strict pandemic protocols?
I'm a huge proponent of safety and public health but I'd prefer not to step back in time.
Thoughts?
@@Coolist Everything in cruising is pretty much back to normal, at least for North America departure ports for Caribbean Cruising. We've been on 4 the past year out of Miami and Galveston and it is in fact normal. No testing, no vaccination requirements (except Disney) and best of all no masks anywhere. It's fantastic!
Great video what tshirt are they where you get them thanks
Love following you. ❤️ Have you thought about cruise ships?
hey the waiter at Brasas has a big appetite 😂😂
Hi James! The food looks soooooo good! 9 times outta 10 I’m just hungarian😅. The hotel is beautiful but not much to do eh? Did it have a gym? The fire show was fun to watch. The beach 🤌🏻 c’mon! It’s not a Coolist video unless you ‘cheers’ us with your drink or bop us in the nose with your receipts 😂. Cheers 🍹
The gym/spa is next to the Italian restaurant and looked quite nice/refined. I walked in but didn't have the opportunity to partake :/
This hotel looks amazing do you recommend it and is it a parry hotel as its close to fifth avenue. Or are there better hotels in playa or cancun you would recommend? We stayed at Barcelo previously and liked it
lol the beach ...
We stayed at the Hilton next door last week. Loved it. How do you think it compares to the Hilton. We may Stay at the Wyndham next year if you like it better. The beach is way nicer at the Hilton.
Going here next month but in Petro vallarta
Do we have to pay for food or it's included ?
It’s amazing how much hotels don’t invest in always providing a superior mattress considering you spend about 1/3 of your time there. First impressions are everything
Exactly. People wonder why I don't glance over the room or bed and that is why. At least 1/3 of your trip is spent there.
Please review the Platinum Yucatán Princess….thinking it may be comparable to Riu Ripublica in DR for an inexpensive party resort.
I was actually looking at that hotel! I think I had it booked recently but had to cancel it due to a schedule change. I'll be doing it for sure
Hey Coolist .. I’m thinking on going to the Wyndham Alltra in July and I am just wondering if the ala carte restaurants are limited to 3 reservations per week? I like the idea of just going for sushi in the afternoon and maybe Italian at night. Is it possible to eat ala carte every night? Also because the beach is we’ll call it a work in progress is there one near by say walking distance? Thanks in advance keep up the good work!
Hey man, I'm curious myself. Now that you've been, can we get an update on how it went for you? I am suspicious about how all inclusives advertise vs how they actually act once you're there. Example, they advertise no limits on a la carte, but then they say you only get a few reservations to work with.
Also, I'm looking to do some excursions to ruins and cenotes. I've heard there shouldn't be issues getting a concierge to arrange this for you, but I also hear that if you ignore their timeshare schtick they'll act like assholes for the rest of your stay. I've never been to a place like this so I don't know what to expect honestly. I'm between resorts: xcaret, iberostar, ocean Maya Royale, barcelo, Bahia Principe... There's so many to choose from. In January if that makes any difference.
Please review the Hyatt Ziva/Zalara in Cap Cana plz 😊
The beach is a deal breaker for me 😮 it’s a bummer because all the rest seems pretty attractive.
Do you have to pay for the pizza and drinks?
When are you going to stay at xcaret arte hotel? Apparently it's the best all inclusive in Mexico
What night of the week was the fire show?
@Coolist Not sure if you are into this but have you ever thought of a cruise on Virgin Voyages? Not your typical cruise experience.
I have been considering cruises more and more and have actually started to research a couple. Virgin is one I would definitely do - I very much like the Virgin brand/experience.
4 the food u need reservation in dinner??
they should have at least 1 indoor pool but you don't see that too often
I’m sooo torn on where to stay. This is my price range and I love the look and vibe of this hotel, decent food matters to me, but I do dislike the lack of beach. I basically want this hotel but on the playacar beaches lol. I’m only coming once (from Australia) so it’s really hard to choose a hotel … where should I stay?!
We aw looking at Royal Hideaway
I personally been staying here at the Wyndham every year since 2014. It really is a great hotel and you won’t be disappointed. Location is great. Yes, the beach sucks now, never used to be like that but the pools are nice and also, just walk like 20 yards towards the Hilton and that beach is a lot nicer. Its super close. Also, beware, there are only really 3 all inclusive hotels in the heart of playa del Carmen 5th Ave and this is one of them. The other two are the ritz and Hilton. If don’t stay at either one of these 3 hotels and you want to walk downtown 5th ave which is really nice at night, then you will be paying for a 20-25 minute or more cab ride which in my opinion would suck. The Wyndham is nice since you just walk right out the hotel a block or two and your right on 5th ave. Lots of night life on 5th and restaurants. Best restaurants and nicer quieter atmosphere would be 5th ave / 38th street street. Good luck.
If i saw you get all that food i would just say youre bulking LOL
Hey James, Have you ever stayed at Bahia Principe luxury Sian Ka’an on Riveara Maya, we are going in November for a 50th Birthday, just wondering, it’s an adult only tesort
I have yet to do a Bahia in Mexico. I was actually looking at one I Cabo I believe...
@@Coolist will look out for that, thank you, keep up the great walk through sand updates
Don't go to Bahia Grand Coba! I went in November. The food is horrible and the rooms have a moldy smell!
Which would you recommend overall in Playa, the Hilton or this one? Thanks
#1 Hilton vs #2 Wyndham. Across the street from each other and previously brother and sister (The Royal and The Grand).
I should probably make a video on this.
I like fiesta Americana in Cancun up the road
I had a great experience at a Grand Fiesta in the past and I'll be doing a Live Aqua in the near future.
James, another great intuitive video as always but PLEASE........tell us regular humanoids HOW do you stay in great shape after eating all that food?? I was at Riu Baja California last month and I ate big plates like you and I DON'T look anywhere near in shape, lol! I LOVED that hotel btw, but THIS hotel needs to get their beach fixed before I go there!
I made a video on this topic - it's in my 30 Days in Las Vegas Series/Playlist. Basically:
10-20k steps a day
1-2 daily workouts
Try for OMAD (one meal a day)
Skip breakfast and/or lunch
@@Coolist thanks so much, James! I will definitely check that out! I’m trying to look like you out there lol!
Has anyone had a experience you would share about Wyndham Cancun
Any plans on heading to Royalton Hideaway or Unico?
Unico is on my radar but probably slated for next trip.
@@Coolist Unico has the best food! Not like other AI's
This hotel have major problems with the rising sea level. Look at the Google Streetview images from 3, 5 and 10 years ago there. You see large strips of beach. In the present time there is only a small beach left and the sea has already reached one of the hotel buildings. Very scary imo, and for real, I don't think this hotel can function in its current state for years to come. :( Cool vid btw.
how is the evening entertainment ? what is the age of the average crowd here ?? any parties lol
Do you have to tip?
the omelettes
🍳
Fire show looks cool? Looks like a Hawaii type show! I wish Hawaii had all inclusive places??? Why don’t they do that?
All-inclusives have fringe popularity in America (USA). I presuppose that is because large profiteering corporations prefer to charge/prey on every possible transaction to a demographic (Americans) that are accustomed to paying for everything in out of pocket (a la carte) in hospitality.
There is so much beach erosion that the hotel literally falling into the ocean also the smell of seaweed is so bad it makes being in the pool impossible the smell is deadly
No rainfall shower is a NoGo for me.
Does this hotel charge a deposit per night
Hilton next door is better
Contrary to each item that’s rated well…. Came here 9/25 - 9/28. food is trash… all of it is disgusting. We’re from Houston of that helps with the comparison in food choices.
YOu had me with the room and the food but I thought the pools were a little lacking but then when you hit the beach I was DONE! Something about Mexico. I've never found the beaches to be that great. sigh!
the mexicans are so nice
Na is not good riu better
Which riu ?
Riu sucks just serves keg beer
I hate the beach
This hotel is horrible it’s obvious you got paid for this review
