Get at least a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Parks, History (a big one) Public Speaking, just to name a few. Be prepared for a HUGE amount of competition. The one I was chosen for,,they had 200 applicants. I made the top 4. This was for a historic site, not even a 'park'. You can get hired without a degree, but you have to document that you have similar experience on your resume. My resume is 12 pgs. long. Also, you must apply via USA Jobs website. That is the ONLY way.....and jump thru a LOT of hoops. It took me almost a yr. just to get an interview.

I can't wait to become a park ranger. I love nature and don't want a boring job behind a computer. I want to be able to fine people for breaking the law while having freedom of my own to do what I want within the beautiful forest.
Sam Smith That's a horrible attitude to go into the field. It's not about ticketing and fining at all, its about educating and you better enjoy talking to people deeply about the resource.
