I love the cotton quillt. I'd use it for pillows or purses, or upcycling jackets or shirts. It's unique and gorgeous for inspiration. Well worth the price.
I really like the idea for an upcycled purse/bag. I could use a whole quilt square for each side and matching fabric for the sides/bottom/handles. Thanks, I love it!
The flannel would be great pieced for a quilt backing. I couple of years ago I bought a big sealed bag of fabric at a thrift store for $20. I could see a bunch of fabric that looked like folded fat quarters. Got it home and dumped it out. There were the fat quarters but ALSO a whole quilt kit and pattern that was marked $135!
I think that would probably be a good idea and would make a soft and warm quilt. I'll lay it out so I can visually see how much I have. It is pretty exciting when you are able to get a crazy deal. My last haul (not posted yet) has a ton of pieces cut out for a fan block quilt and it was $3.
I think the old cotton quilt top was a great find. Take it apart and find the name of the pattern ( the library would have books with patterns). Use the block you've saved to make a scale pattern ( you'll need a ruler and gridded paper). There are several ways to then make blocks, assemble the blocks, add a border then think about quilting ( there are several ways to do that). It's a long process but none of the steps are difficult. Forget about the double knit stuff, it's not worth your time. If you need help with this project go to the nearest quilt shop. Nice haul of sewing stuff. Good luck! h
Finding the pattern actually is a good idea, it isn't one I've seen before so it would give assembly suggestions. I have 20+ quilting books (more thrift finds) so I hope I'll be able to find it there. I'm going to hand wash it first to see how much of the fabric I'll be able to use, I'm just waiting for some warmer weather. I have several other quilt tops I found so I'll probably make a day of it. For the double-knit, someone suggested making it into a beach/picnic quilt with maybe a denim on the other side so I think I'll go that route since I'd love to have a blanket for that purpose.
the squares quilt - probably Fortrel - wears like iron, so a great picnic/car quilt - i would put denim on the back to make it really versatile, with no batting
I get mine when my local hospital thrift shop has a $ 5-a-bag day - I can usually get about 10 stuffed in a standard grocery bag, all different colours and shades.
Great quilt pieces.you got a great buy

Denim is a really good idea, it matches it with sturdiness and color coordination. Now to source some decent denim.

Now that sounds like fun, I wish they'd do that at my favorite thrift shop.
