I have always had an interest in the older, more natural ways. I work in healthcare, there is a time and place for traditional medicine, but i believe the Lord has given us all kinds of natural remedies if we just knew how to use what has been given to us. You and your sweet mom have inspired me to learn more about herbal medicine and i cannot thank you enough for teaching and inspirational videos!! You are a true blessing!
I agree there is a time and place for natural medicine. However I personally believe it fits for 60-70% of the time minimum. When it's paired with lifestyle changes such as a clean diet, avoiding environment disruptor to the body, endocrine disruptors. And excerise/nature at the very least this prevents most chronic diseases we see that ALL develop later in life. So then herbal remedies are good for everything from a cold to the flu. I do believe some vaccines are necessary but not the dozens they force on helpless babies or flu shots things like that. And lastly I do think antibiotics have a useful place, however there are natural versions but I think when used properly and depending on what's going on a pharmaceutical type might be needed. If you are fascinated in the herbal world..might I suggest researching Traditional Chinese Medicine. Some of the oldest existing and operating herbal medicine in the world. Now in those places in the world it is absolutely promoted and encouraged that they turn to those remedies more than pharmaceuticals. Those herbal pharmacies have existed for hundreds and thousands of years. I hear Southern California has one somewhere, but I imagine because of America's restrictions it's nothing like ones in China. We'll thats enough food for thought for now. The exact same thing is happening around our house.... stuff is popping up everywhere that is edible or medicinal. With everything that is happening, we just say "Thank you Jesus" because it is a prayer answered. We even have SAGE that's popped up...never before in this yard. Enjoy your channel very much! I can't believe burdock has all those uses, and edible too! I have been battling that weed in my backyard for years! In fact I bought a machete just for whacking down the burdock. It's so resilient that we can mow it down to the ground and it comes right back up stronger! the seeds will even survive fire! Now I know what I am going to do.... I going to eat them! Wahahaha!

I'm an amateur, but I felt called by the Lord in 2020 to learn, and start making preparations to help others. Feverfew is a vasodilator. Awesome. This means it is good for blood pressure, circulation of blood, water & energy through the body, heart health inflammation. This can help with every function in the body. Mental, & emotional stability, clarity is something most of us need worse than ever. The better our circulation, the more our body can heal itself. I seem to have been taken by the medicinal herb bug. I've been intrigued by it for most of my 47 years, but now I'm actually putting forth the effort to game ground / move in that direction.

Planted a bunch of Hoss's Holy Basil!! Thanks for the tips!! Lol! I also bought that butterfly pea!! We got that from Rare seeds!! We have so many Hops on our property as well. We live in Gettysburg, and my husband is friends with a guy who worked at a restaurant in Hanover, PA,that had Hops growing there for 30 years! We have a bunch of it. For the first year ever,we will have enough to make a small batch of craft beer!! So excited for that.

I would LOVE a video on Henbit! I don't have any dead nettle growing wild over here, but I DO have a few henbits hanging around! Not enough from my pov! Aside from the medicinal value, I've always thought a nice aspect of henbit are the "faces" of the flowers which are fun to photograph. And my very young grandkids enjoy that aspect too! I've not done much research on henbit, so I'll be lapping up any & all the info you've got!!
Too funny I have burdock everywhere too. The difference is we live in town (not by choice and trying to move) I"m sure my neighbors love me. I've also got nettles everywhere, happily.

Hi! Quick tip, catnip and catmint are not the same. :) they are similar plants, and they are both in the mint family.. though they are not the same. very common misconception! Your seedlings are catnip (Nepeta cataria) and catmint is Nepeta faassenii or Nepeta mussinii depending on the variety as they do hybridize.
1. I've always hated burdock So Much! I call those: Velcro Bitey Seeds. But, I promise to go & read about it. 2. Tulsi & butterfly pea, Am trying that this year. I need more beverages in my life than: coffee, water, & beer. 3. Hops. From seed?! Something I've not tried. Hops are easily cloned. But I guess if you wanted a specific quality, seed would insure that. 4. Plantain. broad & narrow leaf lives in my yard. This plant has been my friend since childhood. Thank you for reminding me about what's already in my yard!

Growing up on a dairy farm, we fought the burdock CONSTANTLY! I don't know how many cow and horse tails-- matted full of burdock seeds. -- I had to clean. Years ago I remember thinking, "In some countries they actually grow this stuff for the roots!" 😄 Dad would spray it with Roundup 🥴😳😡 I have a burdock plant that grows in my front flower bed too, I'll try and use the root this year! ❤ Love your videos!
Funny Valarien story, I use some of the dried root just before work to stay calm, just pinch a bit and swallow it, but the few seconds the container is open the lady across my cubicle would always say something about the smell of it LOL so yet, it does have a strong smell, but is IMO a very effective plant^^. Love the greenhouse and apothecary videos, have you ever thought of building a more permanent, year round one like a passive solar one to grow herbs from much warmer zones all year round?

Everything except the Rosemary, she didn't make through the winter but everything else did and I'm eating Asparagus that I planted from seed in a kiddy pool 3 years ago! This year I'm shocked at how big and healthy my asparagus is so I guess I did it right!
TFS! I just noticed that burdock grows in my neighborhood playground. I have lived in that area for 6 years and never paid attention to the wonderful plants growing, but recently I began looking into medicinal plants and upon walking through the grasses noticed burdock, as well as stinging nettle. I am not sure, however, if the the area is treated with pest control chemicals so I have been reluctant to forage any of it, but it is nice to see them growing near me :)

Oh wow I just dug a bunch of that (burdock) out of my rose border. I didn't know they cause those burs, or what they were. There are some more. I'll def want to harvest whats left in the fall. It's growing under our porch.
Had passion flower pop up last week august 20th in discarded seed trays. Gee whiz. Too late to grow this year. Only had two plants and they haven’t flowered yet😢😢 neither have the hops. In zone 6.

I'm starting a medicinal herb garden this year. I have asthma and am starting with herbs that can be used in a daily tea. You might want to consider your own health issues and whether you're looking for things you can use as a tonic or stronger herbs for short term use as needed
I've had very poor germination rate from my tulsi seed 2 years ago so disappointing!! No problem with germinating other basil varieties just my tulsi seed even though I am using new seed each time. Also tried growing butterfly pea this year from bakers creek poor germination and growth as well😪

Ground Ivy (known here as Creeping Charlie) is very invasive, and no matter how much I harvest (I can't keep up) overtakes anything and everything. I had to move from no-till inground to raised beds for my garden to try to eliminate the invasion, but it is still a struggle. :(
Do you think blue pea flower would be the same as your butterfly pea flower? I am going to pick up some of this tomorrow. Are you familiar with Bougainvillea? Not much on the net about this but I was told I can use the flowers in tea and good for inflammation.

Fabulous - Starter plants. Several od your plants with long tap roots, like poppy and great mullian; I have found, don't transplant well. Good luck.

The "Not that" among your volunteer burdock is also edible. The dead leaves are good for twining or braiding as cordage or for baskets.

Oh wow I just dug a bunch of that (burdock) out of my rose border. I didn't know they cause those burs, or what they were. There are some more. I'll def want to harvest whats left in the fall. It's growing under our porch.
Had passion flower pop up last week august 20th in discarded seed trays. Gee whiz. Too late to grow this year. Only had two plants and they haven’t flowered yet😢😢 neither have the hops. In zone 6.

We also have a ton of bugleweed in my yard, and once it's fully up, it looks so much like dead nettle. Its a bit darker, though.

I'm starting a medicinal herb garden this year. I have asthma and am starting with herbs that can be used in a daily tea. You might want to consider your own health issues and whether you're looking for things you can use as a tonic or stronger herbs for short term use as needed

I've had very poor germination rate from my tulsi seed 2 years ago so disappointing!! No problem with germinating other basil varieties just my tulsi seed even though I am using new seed each time. Also tried growing butterfly pea this year from bakers creek poor germination and growth as well😪

Ground Ivy (known here as Creeping Charlie) is very invasive, and no matter how much I harvest (I can't keep up) overtakes anything and everything. I had to move from no-till inground to raised beds for my garden to try to eliminate the invasion, but it is still a struggle. :(
And ivy is toxic for dogs. Beware

Do you think blue pea flower would be the same as your butterfly pea flower? I am going to pick up some of this tomorrow. Are you familiar with Bougainvillea? Not much on the net about this but I was told I can use the flowers in tea and good for inflammation.
