I have always had an interest in the older, more natural ways. I work in healthcare, there is a time and place for traditional medicine, but i believe the Lord has given us all kinds of natural remedies if we just knew how to use what has been given to us. You and your sweet mom have inspired me to learn more about herbal medicine and i cannot thank you enough for teaching and inspirational videos!! You are a true blessing!
The exact same thing is happening around our house.... stuff is popping up everywhere that is edible or medicinal. With everything that is happening, we just say "Thank you Jesus" because it is a prayer answered. We even have SAGE that's popped up...never before in this yard. Enjoy your channel very much! I noticed the weeds that pop up (medicinal) will be something we end up needing further in the year. I always pay close attention, and i always make a lot of whatever volunteers in our fields. And every year it's different.

For the past 3 years, many diff "weeds" (I call them FREE food & medicine), have started growing all around my house. I prayed for help for arthritis & it came!! There is ground elder everywhere!!
I also got the warning to start learning EVERY single thing growing around me, starting summer 2019 ❤

I'm new here, and I love your channel! Love to see you and your mom working together. And your enthusiasm for herbs/herbalism. I'm an amateur, but I felt called by the Lord in 2020 to learn, and start making preparations to help others. I have a few other friends within my church who are also very knowledgeable about herbs, and I hope that together we can be there for those who have not planned ahead for shortages. God bless you!
I am a new homesteader (going into year 2) and this is my summer for starting a medicinal garden 🙌🏻 We are keeping it small and growing mostly the basics + culinary herbs but I am so excited! This video has me so ready to get out and plant my starts (even though I am a few weeks away from being able to haha). I stumbled upon your channel and am very thankful.

Planted a bunch of Hoss's Holy Basil!! Thanks for the tips!! Lol! I also bought that butterfly pea!! We got that from Rare seeds!! We have so many Hops on our property as well. We live in Gettysburg, and my husband is friends with a guy who worked at a restaurant in Hanover, PA,that had Hops growing there for 30 years! We have a bunch of it. For the first year ever,we will have enough to make a small batch of craft beer!! So excited for that.

I don't have any dead nettle growing wild over here, but I DO have a few henbits hanging around!

Aside from the medicinal value, I've always thought a nice aspect of henbit are the "faces" of the flowers which are fun to photograph. And my very young grandkids enjoy that aspect too!
I've not done much research on henbit, so I'll be lapping up any & all the info you've got!!

Great video. I thought Burdock was just a weed and been cutting it down. I learned about it last year, so now I let it along. I love herbs and slowly am learning about the ones that just grow wild. Thank you for sharing all this information.

Feverfew is a vasodilator. Awesome. This means it is good for blood pressure, circulation of blood, water & energy through the body, heart health inflammation. This can help with every function in the body. Mental, & emotional stability, clarity is something most of us need worse than ever. The better our circulation, the more our body can heal itself. I seem to have been taken by the medicinal herb bug. I've been intrigued by it for most of my 47 years, but now I'm actually putting forth the effort to game ground / move in that direction.
I just this year got some butterfly pea seeds and I’m really excited to make tea with it.
This gives me HOPE!

I don't see Hen-bit in my yard but have LOTS of Purple dead nettle and ground ivy! I love this time of year when all the new pretty things spring up and show themselves!

I love watching your vlogs, thank you. Can I ask if the men in your life enjoy taking the herbs as much as you do or if that is more of a struggle for you? Asking as my guy will not touch anything that is or has been green at all. "I'm not a rabbit!" is all I get. He will not listen to explanation or reason. Stubborn as a mule LOL.
Hi! Quick tip, catnip and catmint are not the same. :) they are similar plants, and they are both in the mint family.. though they are not the same. very common misconception! Your seedlings are catnip (Nepeta cataria) and catmint is Nepeta faassenii or Nepeta mussinii depending on the variety as they do hybridize.
And I'm so excited and happy that all of my perennials are growing back! Everything except the Rosemary, she didn't make through the winter but everything else did and I'm eating Asparagus that I planted from seed in a kiddy pool 3 years ago! This year I'm shocked at how big and healthy my asparagus is so I guess I did it right!
Funny Valarien story, I use some of the dried root just before work to stay calm, just pinch a bit and swallow it, but the few seconds the container is open the lady across my cubicle would always say something about the smell of it LOL so yet, it does have a strong smell, but is IMO a very effective plant^^. Love the greenhouse and apothecary videos, have you ever thought of building a more permanent, year round one like a passive solar one to grow herbs from much warmer zones all year round?

TFS! I just noticed that burdock grows in my neighborhood playground. I have lived in that area for 6 years and never paid attention to the wonderful plants growing, but recently I began looking into medicinal plants and upon walking through the grasses noticed burdock, as well as stinging nettle. I am not sure, however, if the the area is treated with pest control chemicals so I have been reluctant to forage any of it, but it is nice to see them growing near me :)

Growing up on a dairy farm, we fought the burdock CONSTANTLY! I don't know how many cow and horse tails-- matted full of burdock seeds. -- I had to clean. Years ago I remember thinking, "In some countries they actually grow this stuff for the roots!" 😄
Dad would spray it with Roundup 🥴😳😡

The "Not that" among your volunteer burdock is also edible. The dead leaves are good for twining or braiding as cordage or for baskets.
Oh wow I just dug a bunch of that (burdock) out of my rose border. I didn't know they cause those burs, or what they were. There are some more. I'll def want to harvest whats left in the fall. It's growing under our porch.
Careful planting burs, hemlock has them too, lol!

Too funny I have burdock everywhere too. The difference is we live in town (not by choice and trying to move) I"m sure my neighbors love me. I've also got nettles everywhere, happily.
I ❤ your channel. I love it when you go freestyle like this. The earth will provide the plants we need right outside our door. Going out to water the garden and listening to this at same time. Trying to identify all these "weeds" in my yard and garden. Amazing how we were taught by schools all wild plants are just weeds and poisonous. I look at "weeds" differently now and am turning them into foods and medicinals. I'm wondering how I should harvest and process this Greater Celandine??? Do you have a video or recommendations 🤔

I can't believe burdock has all those uses, and edible too! I have been battling that weed in my backyard for years! In fact I bought a machete just for whacking down the burdock. It's so resilient that we can mow it down to the ground and it comes right back up stronger! the seeds will even survive fire! Now I know what I am going to do.... I going to eat them! Wahahaha!

Hose link sounds amazing.the reason. Why? I think this would really help me out as right now. I am using two hoses. One on My deck. And one for the inground. Garden.i also have a bunch of raised bed gardens. It would be helpful to only have one hose instead of 2 hoses laying on the ground all the time. I think the hose sounds amazing.

1. I've always hated burdock So Much! I call those: Velcro Bitey Seeds. But, I promise to go & read about it.
2. Tulsi & butterfly pea, Am trying that this year. I need more beverages in my life than: coffee, water, & beer.
3. Hops. From seed?! Something I've not tried. Hops are easily cloned. But I guess if you wanted a specific quality, seed would insure that.
4. Plantain. broad & narrow leaf lives in my yard. This plant has been my friend since childhood.

Hey love your videos! You inspire me to learn more about the amazing properties plants have. I have bought burdock root but it has just come in a plastic seal bag and I was wondering what you suggest for storing tea herbs and blends . :)
We also have a ton of bugleweed in my yard, and once it's fully up, it looks so much like dead nettle. Its a bit darker, though.

Actually, the medicinal Burdock root is Chiko; the other burdock roots are the culinary types.

Had passion flower pop up last week august 20th in discarded seed trays. Gee whiz. Too late to grow this year. Only had two plants and they haven’t flowered yet😢😢 neither have the hops. In zone 6.

Do you have a video on suggestions of what to grow for growing your own first aid herbs. There are so many💚 just wondering what your suggestions are to start. This is my first year growing medicinal herbs other than culinary herbs. But if you had to just grow some for basic every day medicinal herbs what would you grow?

I'm starting a medicinal herb garden this year. I have asthma and am starting with herbs that can be used in a daily tea. You might want to consider your own health issues and whether you're looking for things you can use as a tonic or stronger herbs for short term use as needed

Ground Ivy (known here as Creeping Charlie) is very invasive, and no matter how much I harvest (I can't keep up) overtakes anything and everything. I had to move from no-till inground to raised beds for my garden to try to eliminate the invasion, but it is still a struggle. :(
And ivy is toxic for dogs. Beware
Just found this channel. How do you suggest learning about all this? Classes? Book recommendations? I’ve used essential oils for years but have no idea about growing and using. I’m only on my second spring having a small raised bed garden. It’s so much to learn and so little time!!

I've had very poor germination rate from my tulsi seed 2 years ago so disappointing!! No problem with germinating other basil varieties just my tulsi seed even though I am using new seed each time. Also tried growing butterfly pea this year from bakers creek poor germination and growth as well😪

I believe astragalus will grow in our zone. I tried to grow some on Michigan, but it didn't germinate. I thought Ashwagandha grew in India..
