  • Hank Beekhuis has been the president of the Port Dalhousie Conservancy since 2004, and is the current editor of the Port Reporter community publication. Inspired by an online photograph of the Niagara, St. Catharines and Toronto (N.S. & T.) Trolley stop, Hank located and acquired the building, launching a restoration project that would span several years. This would involve the skills of students of the Willowbank School of Restoration Arts with a dedicated group of volunteers and supporters. Hank provides a descriptive background of the building including a brief illustrated history of the N.S. & T. railway line, the farm that was the original location of the Trolley stop along the railway line, and the steps to bring it to it's former glory. The next step in it's storied history is to place this iconic historic building in a prominent location in Port Dalhousie for everyone to appreciate. Visit the website of the Conservancy group for more information, www.pdconservancy.org
Tonight's meeting was supplemented with an impromptu presentation by one of the audience members who had renovated and repurposed a similar vintage railway building from the Hamilton, Grimsby and Beamsville (H. G. & B) railway line.
