Estras C Thompsons (1830-1902) born in at St. Catherine’s. Spent early years among slaves and well known in Berlin. 1902 Reside in Woodstock from Sarina. He was a preacher at one time at B.M.E. Would that be here? I’m from the US. I got this from a funeral announcement. Would anyone be able to explain this to me? Would the churches keep records on when he would have been a preacher?

Thank you for your query, and for sharing the information about Estras Thompson. There are no records of him preaching at the BME Church in St. Catharines. There are no existing BME Churches in Kitchener (Berlin), Woodstock or Sarnia. You would need to contact the historical society and or the museum or library in each city to seek additional information. The United Church of Canada Archives in Toronto, Ontario is the repository for the BME Church records.
