@fortrevoryoung Herbie Mann played in the track, he's just not in the video, where he was replaced by the goofy guy in a mexican (?) hat - whose performance btw suits well the "tropical irony" take of both the video and the arrangements. this version was recorded for the 1996 collective album Red+Hot+Rio - which btw featured Tom Jobim himself in another track ("How insensitive", sang with Sting).
wtf..this is so out of rythm it doesn't make sense anymore....sometimes it can be cool, but this is rubbish...and, for those who'd say why am i listening then, I am not. I stopped to write this at 0.44 and will go on to another version. :)

Mary Hansen died, but she is playing the guitar in this clip
Excelente. Uma raridade!!
I love this clip. Really cool. The flute player is ok. Not Herbie Mann but that is totally fine. He works it.
Mary Hanson with the tamborine
biutiful! no lo había visto nunca, que bonito!
Yes, maybe Herbie Mann played with them, but not on this video.
Bossa Nova não é mexicana. Do jeito que esta parece. Bossa Nova é Brasil.
True, just the same way of playing flute, but not Herbie Mann.
That is not Herbie Mann.
Then of course she switches to tambourine! wierd
LOL
That's not Herbie Mann on the video, you can't see on other videos, the flutist is TOO young, but same way of playing flute.

oMG they ruin the song .
Yes, most definitely not Herbie Mann. This guy is far too young, less adept, and much more amateurish than Mann
