You don't need more than two years

  • Two years is nothing, but at the same time a lot can be accomplished in two years. You can try a sport you've always wanted to start, and become great at it. You can start a morning routine and affect your mood and stress at a deep level. You can meditate for a few minutes per day, become more self-aware and change the way you react to problems. You can start a business and make it a big success.

1 year ago I set a goal to become a software engineer. I didn't know a single thing about coding and never graduated high school. I've been coding everyday since then and manage to get an interview with a big tech company in the bay area. A week from now I should find out if they want to hire me. The key is consistency and intense deliberate practice. UPDATE: Received an offer, now I am making over $100K!

Effin. Nice. I love stories like that. Companies, even high-level ones, don't care about degrees or certifications. They care about demonstrable skills. And if you got those skills without an education, that's even more valuable in their eyes. Elon Musk said it himself:
"I don't give a damn about your education. ... I never went to MIT. But there are people working for me who did." Bravo, man, for figuring it out. Job going well?

I realized that if I read just 75 pages per day *every day* I"ll finish an entire book every 5-10 days. But, if I miss a day, suddenly I have to read 150 pages the next day to catch up - not gonna happen. The key is picking books I enjoy... now I've read over 3,000 pages in the past month and a half, finishing 4 novels (including two epic books over 1,000 pages long).
Trying to apply the same principles to my songwriting and exercise. Don't miss a SINGLE DAY, and your progress will be enormous.

Or you can pick books with a lot of pictures, that what I do.Books in general are soooo boring, but if you choose one with like 1 pic evry 10 pages it's really easy and you can flex on others

Currently I don't have time to read that much because of other responsabilities, but I've realized that one really good book every 1-2 months is much more enriching than several average books per month. So I always prefer the great classics like Shakespeare or Tolstoi than trendy novels, Although it's always good to read new stuff as well. Also philosophy, sociology and science help develop as sense of awarenes. Of course I'm not saying that to debate your point but to reinforce it.

    2. Reading at least 50 pages of a book everyday

    4. Daily exercise. At least 30 minutes of either jogging, weightlifting or swimming
    5. Work on my hobbies: learn to program, improve drawing and game design
    6. Limit my screen-time usage to 30 minutes a day, detoxing most social media.

Simple tasks guys. I started cleaning my room every day without missing a day. (believe me, it was hard). Here some of other habits I've been implemented in:
      - Writing my ficcional horror story.
      - Reading English books to improve my English (my native language is Portuguese).
      - Taking notes of few books I've read. The objective is to focus on the action and so to create and implement a practical plan.
      - Meditation.
      - Exercising.
With this habits, my discipline in what I do for a living, also increased. I began to focus more.
I've been doing all these tasks for 85 days. My goal after day 90, is to try different hobbies, to see if I can find something more meaningful to follow and focus on. 🤔🤔🤔

@@livelovely4681 I think you can learn a lot in UA-cam and through reading and for doing research. However, there has to come a time where you've learned enough to figure out what you want to do, and then it's time to start doing something towards your goal. That means, you're not gonna be "reading and researching" anymore. You're gonna be doing and learning as you going along and that means putting away TV, video games, social media and UA-cam video watching for awhile. You might need to spend some time away, and then once you finally get a nice job or you get that degree in college, than you can go back to relaxing a little bit, but you have to put yourself through that sacrifice first.

    • @cartonet8186

@Oblivion Well, I like games too. I used to play them a lot and plan on going back to them when I can. The only thing is that games have the potential to distract you too much. It's important to prioritize and figure out what you want to do with your life, before you spend too much time playing games or staying in leisure activities. If you just play video games, you could very well find yourself one day not having enough saved up and finding yourself homeless. You're right, you don't need lots of money to be happy, but you should at least be in a place and be stable. I'll try and achieve some goals, but if I can't, I'm prepared to just live off minimum wage. Everyone should learn to live frugally, in case it happens.

    This video really does speak the truth. These past two years I bought an investment property, got a great job (and then an even better one), improved my confidence and emotional stability, fixed my skin and health, and made a lot of new meaningful friendships. The main small changes I've made are;
    1) Working out consistently (mostly weightlifting)
    2) Running towards things I feared
    3) Practicing humility and gratefulness
    4) Realizing the importance of consistency
    5) Being more patient
    6) Putting my best foot forward in the present moment
Just watched this video today and hoping to further improve these next two years. I plan on buying more investments, upgrade to a job that makes at least 50% more than what I'm currently making, work on my UA-cam channel, and become a kinder, more peaceful person.

    I saw this video 2-3 years ago;
Started home workouts, thanks to the extra time i had during covid lockdowns/ working from home...developed routines that I followed religiously; yes, there were a few disruptions like I got COVID-19 & also underwent a minor surgery...barring these periods, stuck to my routine 90%+ of the times. Got a bit physically fitter, improved endurance, got back to playing football (which had been stalled due to a meniscus injury). This was the first time in my life I had persisted doing something religiously and I feel good about this because it gives me a self belief that we can get what we want, it's only about how badly we want it.
not saying this video is the only thing that motivated me to do this but it certainly gave me a well needed push. Thank you for this content, awesome channel 🔥

Alrighty people here is where I want to be in 2 years.
Sprinting: I want to be near nationals level or top 3 in my state.
Academics: Studying at a university or have gotten into the industry I wanted to
Gym: Weighing around 75kgs with at least a 200kg deadlift
    Remind me if I don’t update please👍
    2 month update-
    Around 72kgs
Currently working on getting my license so I can drive and that’ll allow me to train way more at the track.
Deadlift is building fast, went from lifting 50x8 as my max to 95x5.
Will test my one rep soon
School is off for now but I’m mentally ready to work my ass off. I know what degree I want and what I need to get it.
    Over a year update:
I achieved every goal except the deadlift. 2020 has been a terrible year as we all know but since I made the original comment I did what I wanted to do.
I got near nationals level for sprinting (got to travel overseas and compete on a development tour with some genetic beasts).
I’ve been accepted into a university, made a connection in the industry, I can’t get a job in my industry yet though as you 100 percent need some level of qualification. I’m still 18 and only very recently finished school.
I weigh 75 kgs and I’m very lean. I’m working atm so the gym is a bit up and down but I stay around 73-75kgs of mostly muscle. My deadlift did not happen, I pulled a hamstring and life got so busy I never got to push my deadlift (in a few weeks I’ll be right back into the gym).
What I will say is I’m very proud of myself that at such a young age I knew what kind of goal I wanted to achieve and actively pursued them. I’m now a very driven individual that is extremely persistent. I’ve done way more then I thought imaginable. Mark my words, I’m gonna do something epic, I just don’t know what it is yet.

This Video Sums up a whole journey of watching too many youtube videos about "improvement" .... in the Most easy on the ear and in a sequence that gives you chills ... but It's only the Desire that got fired to motivate you. still Where is your Intention ?! ... Get out of your "minds" guys and get physical and throw yourself in the ocean of discomfort. it will take time in pain and seems like in vain. but it's not. don't let emotions control you. let them come by and stay a bit. and then show them the way out. and you are still on your way. your way of detoxing, trying, doing sth new for mins, putting yourself in discomfort while 100% thinking it's all in vain. this suffocating UGHHH feeling ... this leap of faith and trust is what will gain you the potential. to the other side of the world. the Hero journey. a hero for your values and purpose. you'll finally find yourself in the mirror. respect yourself. not only falsely loving it. you can destroy what you love. but never destroy what you respect. swallow any harsh truth you found about life. truth is a terrible thing but much better than falsehood. there is no absolute truth. there's relative truth. both are right.. both facts about the half filled cup are "TRUTH" ... half filled which is positive ... half empty which is negative. your observations are right my friend. but choose the " right" which propels you forward. and it all starts with respecting yourself. then your values. then others will come in place. respecting them as well as they will respect you. start now.

I don't think two years is enough, it can take a lifetime for writers to establish themselves, or may take less than two years.
Point is, if a goal isn't accomplished in the given time of (in this case) two years, one may fell defeated and decide to give up. One mustn't give up, there is still time even if it takes longer than expected to reach those goals.

A few days ago I had a strange realization that there are two things in life, and this was after reading a book called 12 rules for life. There is order and chaos in life. Order is what you know and chaos is what you don't know/expect. I decided I would expect not knowing and that failure was important to grow. I woke up at 6am when I usually wake up at around 830. I have the motivation to change my life and I want every second to count. I hope some of you here can find the same thing that I did because it feels like I'm living a completely different life. I do things for about two years before I see that I'm repeating myself enough to do something else. these days I stop and do something else whenever necessary because it's probably best to change earlier than later when change is less likely to occur doing the same thing and more time goes by making new things harder to approach. people are different thing than a hobby, job, or accomplishment. With people ten year intervals are more likely to fully understand somebody and a lifetime to really be there for them. then again alot of people I only knew for two years.

"Dont go mad, one more time." Instead, learn to suppress your emotions in a stoic manner. It will teach your kids to do the same. And even if suppressing anger for the rest of your life might give you testicular cancer, - at least there will be no loud voices in the house. Everybody happy! =D

Probably an unpopular question but there is so much about self improvement but not much about self happiness or self acceptance.

Pete S. This vid is about how to achieve goals. And achieving stuff helps you become more confident and happier with yourself. 'Never mind what X says, I achieved Y'.

Sure achieving makes one happier, but the happiest people I have met aren't always the most skilful people. And some of the most skilful people I have met seem to be insecure.

UA-cam channels are like the music industry, you have to hit just the right spot in the ‘algorithm’ or just what people are about to want to hear in a scene. Plus a shit ton of dumb luck. You should never get into UA-cam with an end goal of money just like if you write music

Not exactly. Learning a language is more than two years. Almost on it and I'm not yet fluent. But it's paid greatly a lot since I'm learning six days a week now consistently. I try resting for a while but it becomes a hobby and over time I know, I'll get there.

I don't think reducing meat is the answer. In fact if anything eating more meat may be the answer. (See the carnivore diet.)

Not eating a lot of meat is a good idea though. You can afford better quality then and thus help important, true farmers as well as the animals and the environment.
But to be fair, I'm living in Germany where every person eats SO much (cheap) meat everyday. My perspective is extreme.

    • @Uhfgood

Okee Run - I believe some swear by it and do it for the rest of their lives, still others use it as a quick way to bust through plateaus or lose body fat especially if they're already on keto.
Fad diets imply it's just a phase and that people will eventually stop using it once it's out of fashion. It's more of a crash diet as in short term.
All people are different and to imply that it's good for everyone to eat less meat is a bit naive. If you want to eat less meat or go vegan or something by all means but don't presume to think everyone else should too.
