Finaly a basic model review. Thank you for this episode. The new Versys caught my eyes with its new looks but the price and feature between the standard and SE versions are huge (for me). I would much rather spends on pannier cases, audio system and protection bars. This head to head convinced me to go for the base model and just enjoy the ride rather than worrying on electronic assist features that it doesnt have. It would be nicer if it came with color display as default though.

I rode all 4 (last year). All 4 are excellent, you can't lose out with any of them. Pity you didn't use the basic Tiger (the 850). Each one has its charms. £60 and an hour of cussing and you can have the Oxford heated grips on any of them (without heated). I also have the Keis Vest (toasty).

Don't hesitate on the Versys 1K. Its superb. 2015 models onwards have the looks and everything you need. 2 years and 8000 miles on my 2018 just fantastic. As the presenters said its got more power than you'll ever need and so much torque that you never find yourself in the wrong gear. You could ride this bike perfect,y well with just 2nd and 6th gear. Go for it

I recently bought a 2020 vstrom 1050, not the xt. I got a great deal on a seasonal closeout, and absolutely love this bike, but under a different set if circumstances I would spend the extra $ on the xt, because the base model is really lacking w/o several if these items, ie knuckle guards, engine crash bars, oil filter cover, etc. I can only speak for the Suzuki..

I own 2018 VStrom 1000XT that I thoroughly enjoyed with over 22K reliable miles but no cruise control, poor wind protection, and PIA spoked rims that are hard to keep clean. When purchased it was superior value for $. Now these deficiencies are among many reasons I am moving on by purchasing a 2022 Versys 1000SE that has everything I wanted, cruise, quick-shifter, heated grips, fully electronic suspension, cornering lights, more power etc.
Suzuki marketing is delusional forcing buyers to pay premium for useless off-road style poser bike features like spoke rims just get key features you would normally want for touring such as 2023 1050DE offers with quick-shifter or better suspension . It is absolute nonsense as the VStrom 1000 and 1050 lack adequate ground clearance or suspension travel to compete with Africa Twin, Triumph, or BMW. They should instead emphasize more adventure touring and target those willing to spend more money on touring type niceties without promoting a poser off-road bike that it really isn't.
By comparison riding Versys 1000SE LT+ is comfortable, precise, and linear like a refined sports car . Whereas VStrom engine especially in low rpms

Their job was review what was in front of them, and I still don't know which was best or why?! Or maybe you told us but I was just soooo bored by then. Keep it simple. Nice review with some good advice. My thoughts on which bike to buy base or top spec depends on if it's going to be a keeper or not. If you change every few years do your homework on trade in/used values first because if you choose the base model when no one wants one (e.g. a basic BMW 1250 GS) then when you come to sell it the price you get for it compared to what you paid could mean the more expensive option could work out being the better option in the end.
Forgot to add I have a Keiss heated vest and it's brilliant in cold or wet weather

@@chrisw4215 Hi, I have ridden both. I went for vstrom 1050xt 2021 in red and white. I was torn between those two myself. Totally different motorbikes in every way. Kawasaki is bulkier around its waist so to speak and a clear sports tourer. 4 cylinder inline, very lively from higher rpm, a perfect chassis and lots electronics. Very smooth machine. Vstrom on the other hand v twin 90% 2 cylinder is a all to do tool. The power is linear and pulls better from lower rpm. Not as sporty as kawi but absolutely versatile and lot more fuel efficient. Vstrom will do everything for lot less money but that is just my opinion.

Quite different from Suzuki but I love both!!!

@David Squibular I have not gotten any yet, I still thinking... The Yamaha Tenere 700 was amazing too, it's out road bike but in the city was fun drive it and in expressway was better than I expected. And the price is quite good. I also try the BMW GS1250 and GS850, the small I didn't like but the biggest was a Queen... Back to the middle range budget I pretty like what Suzuki is given, the V-Storm 1050XT is very good but in my opinion the bike do not have the best design as BMW or Thrinph Tiger haven. That's the issue, we can't get all in one bike.

I watch many UA-cam channels based in the UK and have been disappointed to see how casually people disregard the safety precautions we all know by now.
Wear a mask. Stay 2m (6') apart. Avoid all unnecessary contact with others. Showing casual disregard to these guidelines only encourages viewers to do the same.

The smartest person I have known personally told me when I was young "Always question your own motivations."
This simple saying has served me well. I have always been careful of believing things simply because I *wanted* them to be true. I dearly want to think that this disease is no big deal, nothing at all. That is not true though.
Yes, it is scary. It randomly chooses some people to slowly drown in their own juices and that is a horrible way to go. Unfortunately those who believe it is not real are far more likely not to take the steps to avoid getting and spreading this invisibly small virus.
