This was really enjoyable, Mat! You’ve got good taste in media. I’ve been collecting movies, TV shows and video games myself the past 10 years and have amassed a huge collection. I’d say my most prized collectible would have be the 1995 THX widescreen VHS box set of the original Star Wars trilogy. It can definitely be a chore for a multitude of reasons, but it’s a really fun hobby because you get to discover things you’ve never seen before every time.
Seeing your movie collection,my brother's collection and even Caddicarus's movie collection really inspires me too build my movie collection so big and magnificent as all of your's with all the movies I really want on DVD,Blu-Ray & Ultra HD Blu-Ray's that I want in my own future collection. As well as maybe a few VHS's here and there to be nostalgic. You also seem to be pretty well organized like too Animat.

That's impressive how you have your collection organized. Mine is kinda organized very weird like my top shelf is all Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks Animation films. Second shelf is one part scooby doo and looney tunes; and one part miscellaneous which a good chunk is anime. Third shelf is mainly animated films from warner bros and paramount along with two Nickelodeon shows: spongebob and Avatar the last airbender. The fourth shelf is mainly PG-13 and R rated movies with a majority of the R rated movies being Horror. Then the very bottom shelf is mainly my collection of James Bond films and Batman related content which includes the complete batman the animated series, the first two seasons of the Adam west batman, the dark knight trilogy, and most recently the animated R rated movie the killing joke. Then in one of dresser doors I keep a little section of blurays which is mainly Disney and Warner Bros. That's how big my collection is at the moment.

You finally got HTTYD1! I remember seeing the DWA films in the background of one of your videos, and you only had the second one. I guess the rewatch last year really brought it up for you! On the other hand, I'm incredibly jealous of your films. All the Bluths and "Balto," not to mention Criterion "Fantastic Mr. Fox." I'd recommend getting "The Plague Dogs," it's another Martin Rosen film based on a Richard Adams book. I think you'd enjoy it, and it's available on Blu-ray. It's really depressing, almost like a precursor to "Isle of Dogs" only darker in tone.
3:51 As someone who VEHEMENTLY despises the Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 (like it's on my list of "Worst Films I've Ever Seen"), I still say it's okay to get the blu-ray package for the movie and just use the sequel disc as a free coaster or something.

I would definitely love to see an AniMat’s Watches Pan. I’ve seen the film and it is a mess and completely butchers the Peter Pan lore. At least with the 2014 live television special of the Broadway musical “Peter Pan Live” featuring Christopher Walken as Captain Hook, say what you will about it, but at least it’s more respectful to the Peter Pan lore compared to “Pan”.
It was directed by Dave Mckean (the guy who did the illustrations for Neil Gaimin’s Wolves in the Walls and Coraline). It isn’t talked about that much by Jim Henson fans, likely because the tone of the film is more Mckean then Henson (being very quirky, surreal and dark) and features a lot more CGI then puppetry. Still, I think it’s a pretty great fantasy movie in its own right and I’d recommend you check it out at least once. (Edited to correct the spelling of Mckean)

It should be noted that some of the Disney bluray releases of the Studio Ghibli films don’t have translated subtitles for the Japanese dub of the films; they only have dubtitles for the English dub.

Part of it isn’t because of the end of his What’s in the Box? show, it’s mainly because shipping the Blu-Ray gift set to Canada was very expensive. I send it to him because of his Classic Review he did that same year of The Prince of Egypt.

Pretty cool collection, (granted no where near as huge as AVGN's collection but still a good amount of stuff) but I am a bit disappointed that you don't own movies/shows like Jurassic Park, E.T., any Godzilla movie, Universal Monsters, Jaws, DragonBall Z (including the movies), King Kong (both 1933 or 2005), the original Star Wars Trilogy, The Princess Bride, Die Hard or the Back to the Future trilogy. I know you clarified that if you don't own something, it doesn't mean you necessarily dislike them, but from all this talk about "owning the essentials" wouldn't movies like Jurassic Park, E.T., Back to the Future, The original Star Wars Trilogy and so on be considered essentials to have in any collection much like Wizard of Oz and Godfather? Don't get it twisted. I'm not trying to bash on you or anything, I just wanted to point that out and hopefully you might consider seeking them out, but other than that, great video. Lastly, would you consider showing off your video game collection in the future? That would be really interesting.

(others don't) Muppets big screen films your missing are the witches, ninja turtles 90, buddy , country bears, dreamchild, and the three sesame street big screen films follow that bird, elmo in grouchland and abby in wonderland. Great animation collection.
I'm surpised you didn't get the recent Technicolor Popeye 1940s sets (sold through Warner Archive) as well as the first 3 volumes that have all of the black-and-white cartoons.. Sure, some can be uncomfortable for your taste but it'd be neat to explore.

Well to say I always did wanted to know about your collection of DVDs and Blu-rays. I I would say this is a pretty neat collection. Say if had made mine in anyway, is to place who framed Rodger rabbit, and the SpongeBob SquarePants movie as my top favorite!
With no live action just who framed Roger rabbit, space jam, the adventures of rocky and bullwinkle, looney tunes back in action, & tom & jerry, no anime movies just pokemon movie 1, 2, 3 case & no rated r animated movies just anomalisa, & bigger longer & uncut & some of the rated r animated movies will be replaced, & ad some movies to the shelfs & tables
Back in my middle and high school years, I also was obsessed with Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park. They are still on the air but I don't watch any of them nowadays.
Some of the Walt Disney Treasures got non-limited rerereleases outside of North America. Those are probably worth hunting down (I have a UK version of the Complete Goofy set, for example).

you could cut a little off the top and/or bottom of the dvd art for those dreamworks dvd's and slip them under the plastic of a bluray case.

I'm surpised you didn't get the recent Technicolor Popeye 1940s sets (sold through Warner Archive) as well as the first 3 volumes that have all of the black-and-white cartoons.. Sure, some can be uncomfortable for your taste but it'd be neat to explore.

Well to say I always did wanted to know about your collection of DVDs and Blu-rays. I I would say this is a pretty neat collection. Say if had made mine in anyway, is to place who framed Rodger rabbit, and the SpongeBob SquarePants movie as my top favorite!

With no live action just who framed Roger rabbit, space jam, the adventures of rocky and bullwinkle, looney tunes back in action, & tom & jerry, no anime movies just pokemon movie 1, 2, 3 case & no rated r animated movies just anomalisa, & bigger longer & uncut & some of the rated r animated movies will be replaced, & ad some movies to the shelfs & tables
