The only 4K discs I'm really interested in are the Star Wars and Star Trek movies, which sadly don't exist yet. I'm gonna wait until they come out to start a 4K collection. I'm sure I'll pick up the Flash Gordon disc and definately Blade Runner, if it comes out. It'll be a small collection, as are all my previous collections.

Nice collection and video as always Oliver I also myself have gotten a ton of 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Discs and box sets on 4K Blu-Ray and I do plan on getting more. Keep up the super amazing work mate !!!
Nice 4K roundup! I recently bought the 4K disc of Ad Astra too, and the extras are worth watching on this one. They deepened my appreciation of the film and were really interesting IMO. Not the usual making of fluff!
I have seen several films from the nineties that are to be given the 4K treatment with Basic Instinct, Speed, In the Line of Fire and Backdraft being notable announcements. Also getting Donnie Darko and The Fast and the Furious on 4K later this month.
Funny you mention both Legend and Dune as Arrow are releasing both. It was two of their "postcard" announcements. Hopefully they'll do a UHD of both American and Director's Cuts of Legend.
@@OliverHarper Yep! I think Legend will be a US-only release because Universal owns US rights and Fox owns international rights, and the announcement postcard was found in an American Arrow release. But I will definitely import it. Dune's postcard was found in a UK Arrow release so expect we'll be getting that one. No doubt both will be UHD. Legend's cinematography by Alex Thompson will look phenomenal in 4K with HDR. Arrow's UHDs have been hit after hit thus far..
Hey Oliver, are you a fan of Close Encounters of the Third Kind; because I can't remember if you ever got that on 4KUHD. I finally watched the 4KUHD disc of the theatrical cut, but it was on an older TV, so I probably did not get the full effect. We finally purchased a 4KUHD TV, and watched the 4KUHD of Hook, and it actually looked so much different, but better. I always thought the film had too much of a vibrant effect, and that the image was too soft. Watching it on the correct TV was just fabulous. That annoying vibrant look is gone, and you can see the grain in the image. Yeah, some of the blue screen moments stick out like sore thumbs, but the color has been corrected during Peter's flying moment, making it even more stunning. I probably am saying stuff you already know. Sorry for rambling, but I recommend the 4KUHD of Close Encounters if you haven't got it already
coming here from the transformers the movie video, which by the way i still remember every word of that movie thats how much i watched it as a kid, also after watching your ninja scroll video, you have made me feel very emotional and old lol
12:30 the old Blu-ray audio with the 1989 sound effects (the 2005 DVD mix) does sync up to to the remastered Blu-ray and with a tiny bit of adjusting the 4K disc, my rage has tapered down and I really enjoy the new mix but would’ve preferred the 2005 mix or even the 70mm mix in 5.1 DTS-HD MA.
Ad Astra was great. I mean the story was stupid and thin, but the visual effects, the music and the Le Grand Bleu reference at the end were really sick!
I’ve got Kino’s new version of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 4K coming - seen some screenshots and a bit of video of it: looks as good as that problematic transfer can look. I’ve pre-ordered Last Action Hero as well, was so excited to hear it announced, and the new transfer of BvS. Good video Oliver! Looking forward to that one on the RoboCop games in particular!
Do most action movies (aside from Nolan) top out at mastered 2k for a long time to come, making 4k the last format? Audiences are happy with 2k 24fps projected on huge screens. The workflow switching up to 4k or 8k just creates cost and headaches for VFX artists, and there's no "end user" demand.
Great that we are seeing so much legacy content being released in 4K. However, so frustrating that original artwork is pretty much a thing of the past for these releases. Jaws looks horrendous. The shark biting the title. Gag inducing
Please do another 4K video again some day. I have bought some of your recommendations. Superman The Movie. Very good. Black Hawk Down stunning in 4K. I am a big Christopher Nolan fan. Dunkirk in 4K just amazing. The Shining wow, in 4K and on a good size TV. If only the cinemas would put 4K re-releases on the biggest screen possible. Loved 2001 in 4K. Pretty sure they ran over with the first Harry Potter movie and had less time to complete the effects, Chris Columbus went out of his way to ensure that they were vastly improved for the sequel. I'm not sure if David Yates shot his films digitally, I remember The Half Blood Prince looked horrible in cinemas and it still doesn't look great on TV broadcasts.

Solo is horribly contrived with it's 'origins' for every little Han Solo detail. I don't blame anyone for preferring The Hobbit. Oh look, here's how he got his gun. Oh look, here's when met Chewbacca and then later decides on a nick name (awful bit of dialogue, by the way). Oh look, this is how he met Lando and got the Falcon.
