For those wondering why, the 3rd finger being longer is a side effect of exposure to pre-natal testosterone in the womb, which mostly happens when you’re male parts are developing. Basically, if you’re a dude, you’re going to have a longer 3rd finger and more masculine traits. If you’re female, they’ll be around equal length (or the 3rd will be slightly shorter) and you’ll have more feminine traits.
The research was controversial because the correlation between finger length and pre-natal testosterone was used in a study to predict whether men with shorter 3rd fingers would be more likely to be homosexual.
