Nothing better than a Paul Rigby "boodget" product review.😉
Definitely your reviews are one of a kind. You have your own, great style. Just loving it.
Paul, thanks a lot for the review - informative as well as entertaining and very much appreciated. Exactly what I need in these difficult times. Take care and stay healthy.
I am so happy to have found your channel. I am looking forward to exploring further. Thank you.
Like youre reviews very much, thanks for sharing great information.
Fantastic review, I’m seriously going to have a listen to them 🇦🇺
Brilliant review for low budget speakers and worthy info to hear if man want a second pair to a little room
Thank you, great review
Eloquent reviews with some salt and pepper added for engaging a quarter of an hour, well done Paul.
Hi Paul, another great video, I like my BX1bought some time ago . Regards mark
Very good and interesting review 👍
I consider myself an enthusiast but am reluctant to buy beyond products that audiophiles typically consider "budget" but are still often on the higher end of what casual consumers would consider. I agree that speakers in this 500$ range are killing it lately in terms of value. I own a pair these find myself and agree with your description of their characteristics. These will shred a bad master without mercy but bring out the little details of music that a more smoothed over character might lose.
PS: Great job keeping your descriptions easily relatable! Audiophile reviews too often get flowery to the point of meaninglessness and offer comparisons that mean nothing to the majority of people. I could actually follow your terms without feeling like a wine novice trying to figure out what "asphalt" is supposed to taste like :)
Hi Paul like the way you did the comparisons , it gives a good insight to how they perform in the real world. I’ve noticed over the years that indeed the fit and finish has improved beyond all measure in this price sector along with with sound performance. I have a pair for Q A concept 20 speakers that I alternate between my vintage but immaculate monitor audio r352 speakers, so you could say I have a foot in both camps. Be it in a rather tenuous sense, l think as always your spot on in recommending these speakers , and if they last as long as my R 352 pair how could you possible go wrong . 😀👍👍👍
Thanks a lot for this! I did a hurray when you compared them to the q acoustics! Thanks again very good!
Me too! Ha ha!
I have a pair running off an old Marantz SR4021, with a cheap SMSL DAC, and in my small guest lounge they’re brilliant.
Looks like I'm first for a change. Nice review Paul. Keep it up.
: )
just down the East Lancs - or so am guessing
I have these speakers and they are fantastic IMO! They are bass heavy but depending on the music you listen to you seem to hear extra details, especially with vinyl! These are very well-built and look stunning! I would advise a long run in time! I'm currently listening to Daft Punk random access memories, and it's like I'm listening to a completely different album in the form of quality! If you need a smaller speaker like the 50s, I highly recommend giving them a go! This is also a great review and reference to how well these speakers preform, especially for the price! Great-in depth review!
just bought a pair so nice to see your comment. How do I run them in? Just listen to them? Volume level? Thanks
@@dugbert9 don't overpower these speakers if your not bi-wiring take off the plates at the back and replace with a bridge of quality speaker cable instead!
Use quality speaker cable I'm currently using van damm blue. I'd say both the cables and speakers moderate burn in for at least 50 to 100 hrs. Remember don't over load these speakers I think if I remember right they are rated at 80 watts.
If you need any help give us a shout all the best 👍
@@christopherwilliams8104 wow, I'm probably up to about five hours so far. I'll take on board youor comments about the plate and make up some bridge cables with the same as the main ones. Thank you 😎
21:14 My laptop has spatial audio and this beep seemed to come from the kitchen and I heard it twice so I was like wth is beeping in the kitchen XD
What a Fab, Professional overview... So much better than most of the rubbish out there!
Anyone know what improvements/difference in SQ you get moving up to the Silver 50 6th vs the Bronze 50s?
Hello Paul, I bought the Cambdrige AXR85 amplifier (85watts) and I'm between the Wharfadale 12.1 ($368 Dollars in Chile) or the Bronze 50 ($255 Dollars in Chile). Apart from the good price of the Bronze, I'm worried that they are 80 watts vs. 85 of the amplifier... I want to favor the best sound... what do you recommend? I would really appreciate your help.. I send you a hug
Great job, Paul. If you're going to do big brother then I recommend you pitch the previous model one step up the range, the Bronze 2, against those 3030. It is a fantastic speaker with even more fluidity and breathing room in the bass especially.
Thanks Mark.
@@TheAudiophileMan these speakers vs b and w 606 i cant decide
Great review thanks. These are scarily similar to my old Mordaunt Short Avant 920i speakers. Any connection do you know (designer, company connections etc)?
I personally wouldn't compare the two but thanks for the kind words :)
Ma bronze 50 vs dali oberon 1 sounds quality, which u prefer?
how would you rate the 3030i to the bronze 100 ???
Hi Paul only just got round to watching this video. excellent in depth review but if i could put you on the spot and ask. If both the bronze 50 and the QA 3020i could be purchased for the same price which would you recommend
Check out this video, it might provide the info you need in terms of the relative audio position of the 50s: ua-cam.com/video/D6Mmy2n_YrY/v-deo.html Give me a shout if you need more, after that.
thx for the review...would you recommend these or q acoustics 3030i, they're about the same price in my country..I listen to all sorts of music genres and I enjoy those little details in music..
I did do a direct comparison in the video.
Good day Uncle Paul,
I bought the Martin Logan 15i speakers based on your review. I love them. From time to time, I like to switch to different pairs of speakers just to keep things interesting. In another video you said the 15i and 3030i were pretty close in sound quality, though have slightly different strengths. I also watched your Bronze 100 compared to Bronze 50 video. Knowing I am used to sound quality of the 15i speakers (with a subwoofer), do you think I would be pleased with Monitor Audio Bronz 50 in my speaker rotation? Or would you have another suggestion? (SILVER 50 7G?) Best Regards
For anyone else reading this - I've address this one on my website.
Which amp under £300 would pair with these nicely?
Paul do these compare closely or favorably to the previous Monitor Silver 6G line ?
Yes but the Silvers should really be a step up.
My wife's cat would probably throw up on it. like it's done to my shoes.
That port design reminds me that I'm overdue for a colonoscopy.
When you tick off a cat, you'll get either poo or hairball on your bed or shoes...or a nice scar to remember them by. My experience.
How would the Monitor Bronze compare to a Dali Oberon 1?
I'd probably for the Bronze designs.
Kid and cat friendly tweeters. :-)
I've noticed a couple of reviews labelling the current Bronze series of speakers as dull and having a crude high end, most notably the infamous What Hi-fi review of of the 100s. Defenders of the brand say these speakers need properly running in before they are at their best. What are your thoughts on this? I ask because I intend to stretch my budget and buy a pair of the floorstanding 500s which share components and I am unable to demo before I buy.
I think you can gauge my thoughts in the video, Jason :)
@@TheAudiophileMan Sorry. I didn't catch you talking about how long you ran the speakers in for.
@@MarmiteTheDog Whenever I do a review, I insist that the manufacturer thoroughly run the product in before I even touch them. I don't have the time to do a long run in job here. I can only 'warm' them up, as it where, in preparation for the review. So these speakers have serious hours on them.
@@TheAudiophileMan Thanks for the info. Appreciated.
Running of speakers Is a myth
"Crazed python on speed." LMAO You've got quite a range of euphemisms.
I'm abit confused the bronze 50s are £399 and the 3030i is £270
Are you saying the 3030i sound better ?
When I reviewed the 3030i speakers they were £329. They have since dropped in price. When I first reviewed the 50s, they were £259, and they have gone the other way. Which is a little odd. As for my sonic impressions? Well, I won't repeat them, they're in the vid and on my website.
@@TheAudiophileMan thanks for the response I'm going for the bronze 50 due to space your review was very detailed and great I'm actually listening too the 50s now as my dad has them
Please do a review on Alice Cooper - Detroit Stories
the one thing a hate is no simple speaker stand for them none that u can anker the speaker without usung blue tack
The 50 has better mids and are far better balanced than the 100, which are more recessed in the midrange
I wonder if that holds true for the silver series as well? can always add a small sub.
Smaller faster woofer
These speakers are rubbish and I would avoid. I bought a pair of these and after a year the cones started developing cracks. The supplier denied any liability and said someone had deliberately damaged them. I was doubtful but ended up paying for new cones. A year on the same thing is happening again. They now accept the damage but say they have been over driven. Frankly I am an older chap who seldom blasts the volume so I doubt this. They are just a defective design in my opinion. Don't go near them is my advice.
Which Monitor Audio speakers did you buy?
@@richardchandra3641 same one as the one in review Bronze 50. The smooth cones without a center piece look cool but my theory is that is why the begin cracking because there is nowhere to release the stress. Anyway good luck
