This is by far one of the greatest shows on UA-cam and should deserve it's own UA-cam space on the front page. If you ever see this David, keep going with this style. We keep returning to this and many of your older ones so much. Maybe create space travel simulations from us to more and more distant spaces! That would be insanely good!

"My view is that the Universe is probably crawling with life and when I say crawling with life, I mean only a billion life forms have evolved. How did you find out andromeda is closing milk way 14.4 millions km/day speed ?

    • @pseudorandomly
      @pseudorandomly 4 роки тому

IKMC I can't explain the 14.4 million km / day exactly, but determining that exact number is tricky, because in order to find out how fast the centers of the two galaxies are moving toward each other, you have to determine and subtract out the speed with which the Sun is orbiting around the center of the Milky Way. According to several sources, the best number we have for the speed at which the centers of the galaxies are approaching each other is 110 kilometers per second. Since there are 86,400 seconds in a day, that would yield a closing speed of about 9.5 million km / day.

To the best of our knowledge, all heroes wear capes. However, we recognize that many heroes may or may not wear capes. Also, some villains wear capes. I suppose the point is, do not judge anyone wearing a cape simply by the fact that they are or are not wearing a cape. A cape is not an accurate measure of heroic intent.
But David Butler is totes a hero.

If you believe in the God of the Bible, the Word of the One True God, YHVH,
then you believe in the creation of Adam and Eve.
God blessed them and told them to take dominion over all the earth and all things here.
      God gave them one warning:
Not to eat of the forbidden "fruit", else they would die that "day"
("One day to God is as one thousand years to man.")
Eve was tempted by a "serpent"; tempted TO disobey,
      tempted TO defy God's command,
tempted TO taste what appeared "good to eat" (was the serpent eating the "fruit"?) .
She did not fear the serpent/dragon.
The serpent did not threaten to harm her or her husband.
*By persuasion alone was Eve deceived to believe a lie.*
God cursed both Eve and Adam, the earth, and the serpent/dragon.
Evil, sin and death entered this world because of their disobedience.
Adam lost his dominion and the evil one took over.
      *But God.*
Not without a promise of Redemption for Eve and Adam's descendants to return unto God.
Who stipulated the required redemptive price of *innocent blood* ?
We are not privy to the laws and commands between the evil one and our Creator God, but the evil one knew there could NEVER hence be any man with *innocent* blood.
      So such was the price.
God promised there would be One to pay that ransom.
The evil one tried killing and mixing the "seed of the woman" to stop that Redeemer ("The sons of God [fallen angels] saw that the daughters of men were beautiful [compared to ??] and *took them and had offspring* ") . (Think Eve was an exception? She had already sinned.)
Cain, one interpretation, says "was the son of the evil one", killed Abel.
The pagan rulers had male Jewish children killed at least twice in Scripture.
What the evil one did not know, was that out of the *love* God has for man,
God chose to pay that price of *innocent* blood Himself,
and redeem us back to Him through a human form of Himself, Jesus *the Christ* ,
      not a mere "prophet".
      Islam claims:
      *GOD HAS NO SON.*
So, no, you are indeed wrong.
The Qu'ran completely denies mankind's need for redemption even though God established the sacrifice of innocent animals "with no defect" to be a temporary ATONEMENT for His people's sins.
The Qu'ran refuses to accept that an all powerful God CANNOT stoop so low as to sacrifice Himself for His *CHILDREN* .
And if there were no other differences between Christianity and Islam, that alone should wake you up to the *fact* that Christianity and Islam do
      *NOT* serve the same God.
Men make God in *their* image, and, therefore, believe He is too MASCULINE to sacrifice Himself for His creation.
They do not know all the attributes of God: *love* , *compassion* , *patience* , etc.
A MASCULINE God, in men's logic, would NOT save a human's tears, yet His Word says He does.
I leave you with one wisdom God's Holy Spirit gave me:
      Can God grow?
My reply: NO! God is all in all!
With different events that followed within a few years, I learned:
      God can grow.
      How, you ask?
      *CHILDREN* .
      Maranatha (He comes) !!!

It’s unfortunate that this channel doesn’t have more subscribers. You do an excellent job overall, between the information you convey, to the calming, relaxing music, and your voice. Carl Sagan would be pleased. Not all of the brightest astronomers and astrophysicists are able to communicate what they know to an audience of lay persons in a way that we can understand. You have that gift.
It’s just sad that we have so much light pollution that it’s difficult, even with a good telescope, (a local university has one just a short drive away, but even it is difficult to view, due to the local light pollution) to see anything close to the detail shown here.
Thank you for the care, effort, and attention to detail you have put into your videos.

John Cronin ,🤔🤔Now You Have Me Wondering Why They Built an Observatory In a Heavily Light Polluted Area

    • @johncronin9540
      @johncronin9540 4 роки тому

PafMedic I live in Massachusetts. Light pollution is a problem almost everywhere in the eastern part of the state. The observatory was part of an upgrade of a local college to a university, and the observatory is atop a whole new science building. That’s a problem also, because anyone walking in lower floors of the building causes vibrations which affect the quality of the viewing.
This isn’t just a problem with this university. Light pollution is a problem around the globe. Just viewing through the atmosphere is difficult, not just because of the twinkling, caused by the atmosphere, but because our atmosphere blocks many parts of the EM spectrum from reaching the surface. This is good for life on Earth, but tough for observers.
I think the next step is an observatory on the far side of the Moon. That solves the light pollution problem, and we could build instruments that can explore across the entire EM spectrum. And “night” lasts two entire weeks.
But this telescope is good for an introduction to astronomy, and it’s open to the public one night a week (though not now, during the pandemic).

And when the light from Andromeda reached our planet, what we see is where it was because it's somewhere else.
If you put a stationary disk with radial lines in Andromeda, and another RIGID one spinning, you'll see that the spinning one now has "S" shaped "straight" lines because the time it takes light to go from one end, through the center, to the other end. We see the past. Never the present as it takes time to think.

Even where I live, in a small town in the country, the light pollution won't allow you to see anything. We're surrounded by woods and I can drive out of town to nature trails and still have too much light pollution to see much of anything. I don't remember this being as much of a problem when I was a kid even though I lived in a way more urban area then. There must be more lights everywhere now I guess.

Hi David. I absolutely love watching your videos! Your videos are wonderful learning tools that inspire you to learn more, so keep them coming.
I have been confused about one thing with videos such as yours and was hoping you could shed some light. I don't understand how you or others take a wide field picture and zoom in on a target with such detail. Is it one picture or blended with another picture at higher resolution to give the effect of a continuous zoom. Sometimes it's obvious that there are more than one picture but I've seen pictures of the Andromeda Galaxy zooming in and I am in awe. I can't tell if it's a giant picture or just lots of pictures blended in to give the effect. Hopefully you or someone can help shed some light. Thanks.🤔
