I listened to Hubert Laws back in 70's and have just recently started listening to him again.. Oh my god have I missed out all of these years. Just wonderful!!
We are very lucky to have this man with us still. Do you realize you are listening to a international treasure? I wish you many more years of health and life among us Mr. Laws. You are such an enormous blessing and inspiration to me and to this world. A living legend and one of the last greats left! Don't take it for granted folks.
My #1 favorite jazz flutist in the entire world. His tone and execution is flawless!!!!
Ive enjoyed his playing for many years.
Amen 🙏🙏🙏
My favorite flutist too. Look at his fingers on the keys. There is no gap. He becomes his instrument.
I’m outside with my speaker so the birds learn
For my money, he's the best jazz flute player alive
Money well spent! LOL
Sir Laws... is just so many leaps and bounds above us lesser mortals with a flute in his hands!!!!
Hubert is 81. More energy in playing than most 20 somethings. Utterly fantastic musician.
We just did the Portland Jazz Fest in Feb. Hubert's playing was unbelievable. Never missed a note and our band is sounding better than ever.
a soul that speaks to souls. your music creates an inner silence. Thank you Thank you Thank you for existing
Purely love Hubert Laws musician ship both as leader and sideman. He has been my most influential artist, as a flutist, myself.
The performance takes place at Hubert's home. The grand piano is one Hubert bought for his mother. Joe Sample chose it. I interviewed Hubert for the National Flute Association fall 2001, quarterly publication, at that venue.
Do you know what brands of flutes Hubert plays?
@@brucelaudenberger8056 Looks like Open G# and Heynes special rip plate, maybe old Heynes? when I met Hubert in NY around 2010, he plays Gold Sankyo Open G# B foot flute, and Gold Alto flute those are same spec. and Open G# piccolo brand is I could not find out. I don't have any ideas about that B foot silver flute he tried to play on Spain but he did not.

実はLawsさんと同じ学校で同じ先生に師事しましたのでたまに会いますよ。だから調子に乗る前に自分の立場を分かった方がいいw 分った?
@@yishihara55527 This place is not for our debating about handling flute. According to your comment, you are probably real close friend of Mr. Laws…if it’s truth, that’s fantastic to Bruce Laudenberger for getting to know the answer what brand’s of flute Mr. Laws plays…tell him the correct answer that you must be know.
I just commented my memory about his flute when I saw and met with Mr. Laws and asked to him “which brands of flute are you playing?” so...

Hubert Laws, maestro.!! Big influence for me ever. God bless you. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching! He is incredible!
Is that you Ruth? I'm Red from Ireland (but now live in Rio de Janeiro) Gordon Beck's friend, who once turned up in The Bakery (2003) when Jacky Terrasson's Trio was playing: You were so damned kind to me and I still listen to your album with the genius Johnny Smith himself: You SOUND GLORIOUS of course (nothing less).
Um beijo direto do Rio de Janeiro - and thank you for this more than especial apresantation of the legendary Hubert Laws - my idol ) I play flute but come from a good family!) and the great John Leftwich is my friend (I've been his fan since he came to an Irish festival with Carmen).
🙏
The ever sublime Hubert Laws. A historical grandmaster of the flute. Listen to his work with Quincy Jones in the 60s and 70s. Just masterful.
Absolutely! I first heard him on a Mongo Santamaria album, 1968, Soul Bag. Hubert playing tenor saxophone and flute. Then, the Quincy Jones album, Walking in Space. 68, or 1969?
A True Legend, tributes another LEGEND 💕💯
❤my god Hubert is so good it’s just amazing
You create such a dilemma for me. You make me want to practice my flute more and more just so I can perhaps get to be an absolutely tiny bit better than I am but never anywhere a fraction of how astonishingly good you are - and on the other hand there are days when I just think I should put the flute away and just invest my music time listening to you and your wonderful music!!!
Perhaps you could do both. Personally, I listen and transcribe Hubert Laws’ solos, that way I get to enjoy the music and (hopefully) become a better flute player.
Incredible performancr! Music keeps the brain young. The group is so cohesive! Sir Hubert is a world treasure!

I'm just glad that I have discovered this tribute to Chick Corea by the legendary flautist Hubert Laws, I haven't listened to flute for a long time. This is one of the greatest tribute. Thanks.
This is as good as it gets. True masters and some of the most beautiful music
The one and only Hubert Laws! I first saw him play in October 1971, at the CTI Jazz Festival, in Chicago, at the civic opera house. Hubert Laws is absoluttely incredible! In my opinion, Hubert Laws is the Best! Thank you for posting. Thank you Hubert Laws for touching so many of us, with your amazing music!
Wow, what is he now, 82? 83? and still going strong. Amazing music - no rhythm section and still kicking syncopated beats out
legend
Phenomenal, such a moving tribute! Fly away home, Chick Corea. Thank you, shared!
Hubert Laws.....its all been said before....wonderful sound and ideas and heart and soul in there at all times.....
A bunch of us did that with Christian McBride at Juilliard back in 1989. Jazz was still a bit taboo there at that time too. Fantastic memories.
Absolutely beautiful - brought me to tears of joy and wonderful memories of Chick Corea!
Absolutely wonderful!!! What a beautiful tribute to Chick from his favorite flute player in the world, Maestro Hubert Laws, who sounds amazing as always!! With solid support from Rob and my friend John, and excellent sound and balance from the Jazz Bakery folks and Zoom. I am SO looking forward to the duo record mentioned in the intro. Bravo to all!!!
From one master to another!
I just want to let add one more comment - your playing is like a very finely crafted jewel.
This man plays the flute the way Mel Torme sings. Always beautifully.
sublime joueur de flûte il aurait emmené tous les enfants du village..!! (légende allemande d un joueur de flûte)..

As always Enchanting 🙏
Bravi!
Loved your playing since first owning your Afro Classics album in the 1970’s. Also had the honor of attending NYU when Wayne Shorter was there, mid ‘50’s.

God Bless Percussionists! 🎷🎺🪈
ABSOLUTE BEST.
Not sure I like the altered, commercial sounding chords in the Rodrigo intro to Spain. But what great playing!
so orgnic and still masterful
Maravillosa interpretación...!!

I’m sorry if I’m missing it, but where was this recorded/produced? Thanks
As a mediocre flautist it’s him, Herbie & Tull, now also “primitive” fluting from around the World
So Inspiring and beautiful!!!!
Laughs.Herbie Mann comes up a scroll after this. Its like the Chevy Rabbit following Lamborghini in an Auto Show!! Unfair to Mann....
Anyone know what brand of flute he plays?
I don’t know, Bundy?
