Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy learning and playing this one as much as me. It just feels so good every time. What's your favorite solo from David Gilmour? 🎸
Do you mean Lee Ritenour 😂?
My favorite Gilmour solo is one of his most overlooked: the outro solo in his instrumental "Mihalis" (from his eponymous 1978 solo album). I have yet to find a lesson on it (hint, hint...). 😁
Hey Fab, is there rumor he helped with the solo? I know he helped with rhythm stuff :)
I've actually never heard that one... will have to check it out :)
Coming Back To Life - Pulse DVD
Best teacher on the internet period!
One of my favorites!! And it makes a good case for owning a P90 Goldtop LP, even if just for that one tune.
Hey Steve! Good to see ya! I'm diggin' it for sure.
nailed all the nuances ..The string rakes make the solo. Brilliant!
Thanks man, much appreciated!
@PDXguitarfreak so well played and thank you! For me, among the top Gilmore works was Echoes ( live at Pompeii version) . I think there's only one good lesson of that on UA-cam...hint hint 😀
@@PDXguitarfreak Still waiting for Eruption lol..take your time🤣🤣🤣
Gold.
Freak! Dave, you really did this solo proud, brother. So much feel.
I also love the solo from Shine On You Crazy Diamond. That might be Freak worthy.
Excellently executed.....exceptionally Gillmor esque
Hey CGC, thanks bro! :)
You must've put a ton of thought and effort into this to make such a perfect copy of the solo. Job well done, sir👏
Thanks a lot!
Excellent playing and great sounds. Could you please explain how you achieved that sound? Thanks.
Thanks! I run my guitar through a Line 6 Helix processor and direct into my computer. From there, sometimes I do a little EQ tweaking or add additional effects (if needed).
Such a great timeless solo! Just only proves it's not always about "Shredding" Playing from your soul and heart speaks volumes.
So true bro
Shreading is easier. Playing slow like this is incredibly hard for me.
David Gilmore was the EVH of bending strings.....Awesome playing PDX man !
Good job!
When is the Afro coming back?
😊
Amazing job brother! Incredible!
The reason I love Gilmour and Knopfler so much, is because the get the best melodies from relative simple scales. It's all about the melody, emotion, sound: not about 3500 notes in a minute. For me, that is.
Thank you. I learned it. Now How about that gimme all your loving solo.
That goldtop les paul is sick
That's the exact one I want ..its $3500 dude you must be a richer
Hey David, this was actually a used 2018 Les Paul Classic my wife got me, that I made some cosmetic updates to so it would look more like '56 Gold Top. Saved quite a bit going that route 😊 ...but I will say that looking at the prices on the used ones today, they are a bit higher. Inflation has been a bitch 😕
@@PDXguitarfreak now that is a wife, my friend! We both have super awesome women in our lives I guess. Guitar players get the ladies
Great lesson. Thank you very much!! btw... are you using 9’s on that Paul?
Yes, I use 9s on almost all of my guitars. Definitely makes the bending and wide vibrato easier :)
@@PDXguitarfreak Brother from another mother! Same here. Looking forward to more content. Be well!
Fantástico me inscrevi no canal, obrigado pelas ótimas aulas, sou brasileiro
With all of those bends your fingers are gonna need a hyperbaric chamber. 🤘🤘
WOW. Always awesome to see you play. I haven't been playing for a couple years unfortunately. Started a business and well, that took precedence. I did a cover of angry chair with a friend's son not long ago, got the old passion back so hopefully I'll maybe make a couple videos again soon. Thanks for sharing bro. God bless.
I had to check the video to see what song you were speaking of. I have to say its a great song even after all these years. I learned it back in the 1990's. But I only had an Ibanez back then to play all the music on. Would love to get me a guitar some day with P90's. But you did a great job.
As great as this solo is, I think Comfortably Numb has a greater variety of phrasing that utilizes more techniques within. Both are a must have in any guitarists repertoire. Never seen Dave Gilmore with a Les Paul before so that was cool to see.
Oh, teacher, more than wonderful
I’m not even two minutes into the video and my jaw dropped dude you killed that solo one of my favorites 🤟🏻
Good stuff. Captured all the little nuances beautifully.
Thank you, I certainly tried! :)
Excellent lesson so easy to follow
👍
Thanks!
Awesome!! Thank you!
Great job!! Love it!!
Hey Guitar Freak, you're an incredible guitarist and teacher, and you seem like a really cool guy from your videos. However, I preferred it when you made videos of 80s hair metal/hard rock music. Every month I'm always hoping to learn a new solo from Ratt , Autograph, Dokken, Stryper, Night Ranger, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Testa, Winger, White Lion, Ozzy with Jake E Lee and many others from you, but unfortunately you've changed genres. I really miss your old content. I was wondering if you would consider making some more hair metal/hard rock videos in the future. I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your time, and keep rocking!
Hi Lorenzo, thanks for the feedback. I realize I've been doing a lot from the 70s lately, but I haven't totally abandoned the '80s. There will be more coming down the road. 🤘🎸
Thanks!
Hey thank you very much! 🤩
Bravo
Gilmour and his step and a half bends. A lot of times, I'll cheat by sliding up a step, then bending..
My favorite to play is probably either ''Dogs'' or ''Hey You''.
You should put some stuff on the green screen.
I was going to, but the top of the guitar was picking it up too... apparently the gold has just enough green in it 🧐
Great stuff !!! You still have great vids and demos !!! Thanks
Thank you, KT! :)
@@PDXguitarfreak to you pdx !! Four years of enjoying your vids !!
so good, your playing is always great!!!
Killed it
Thanks! :)

Lee Ritenour was and still IS the man!!
That one part was all wrong. 😁
Which part?
