Not only is this some of the best digital artwork I have ever seen, but you actually take the time to reply to *every comment!* Your composition is superb, the amount of attention to detail put into this piece is amazing, and your color choices are perfect! Not even mentioning the shading- which I can't do to save my life- and lighting that is not only colored, but from a downward angle facing up! You have earned yourself a loyal subscriber!
This has got to be one of the most relaxing yet intensifying pieces of art I have ever seen. It makes the face of a woman beautiful yet intimidating. I'm in love with it
One of those few times UA-cam actually recommends me something so amazing that I end up subscribing. Your work is truly mesmerizing and detailed. I love it!!
You are truly amazing! Everything about this video is perfect and I love how genuine you are, you're showing your references, you're showing the changes you make throughout the drawing. Also the video wasn't too slow or too fast and I actually learned a lot just watching. Please keep going you are an incredible and super talented artists :)
There were 666 likes. And then I ruined it. Wery beautiful art, btw! Gives such a creepy, sad, yet intriquing feeling. And the way you draw hair is just absolutely perfect, as well as the water droplets.
Oh maaaan, why did you ruin my 666? /jk jk The character I was inspired by is pretty much all that, when she is older / as the "Sea Witch". She looks young, but has an ancient, melancholic vibe around her. Thank you a lot!
This is so incredibly captivating and visually stunning. There's something ethereal, hypnotic in her eyes that just sucks you in. Well done, beautiful work!
I'm so glad to see someone else using SAI making gorgeous work. it actually means a lot more than you think. hopefully sleeping this video down can show me your techniques! thank you so much
Thank you so much, and Im glad the videos are helping you somehow! And SAI is a great software, like any other. People just don't give it a chance because it is "used to draw animu" and brushes "aren't as good" as Photoshop, lol.
Celtic Botan's Digital Art that's what everyone tells me but I don't know. I'm super comfortable with SAI, I think I just need to be pushed in the right direction. edit: found your brushes link uvu
Well, as you can see, it is perfectly possible to paint realism / traditional looking pieces on SAI xD Tools don't really matter, they can be helpful on depending on what you are trying to achieve, but as long as you know how to get a certain result you can use pretty much anything =)
I was truly and absolutely mesmerized by this! Not only did you make an amazing piece of art, but you brought it to life. The amount of details you put into this artwork really bring out the digital drawing to a whole new level! The music also suit the feelings which this piece brought to me. I'd be glad to get to know your work more! Thank you for this amazing experience! Keep up with the good work!
WOW amazing! I love the fact that you recorded the drawing of the outline too, it gives me more insight into how to start drawings, something I struggle with.
Thanks! Usually I start recording only when I already have a sketch fully planned and colored; but since this one would be a portrait, I thought I could record from the ver begining =)
i got into bed done drawing for the night , then i stumbled upon this gem and now im inpired to get off my arse and draw more you are inreadibly talented , and im learning alot from your attention to detail thank you for sharing your awsomeness with us :D
Wow! I love this stuff. I've been trying to get into digital painting, and I love these videos. It shows the workflow behind these amazing pieces and humanizes them. If you see a painting like this without seeing the making of it almost seems super-human, and it can be intimidating. This kind of stuff is really inspiring to me.
But of course! References are everything, I believe. In my "The Bird Bath" video, you will see me using a million different refs to render the character and her clothes, and face correctly. =)
This is so great! I love the details and the colours! This is one of those special videos/artworks that inspire me to draw and paint. Thank you for this
Meu Deus que lindooo!!!! Quase chorei hahahah são tantos detalhes... o cabelo molhado... só suspiros por vc É tão bom achar artistas brasileiros tão talentosos!! Parabéns !!!!
Thanks a lot! There is a lot of prejudice around "simpler" art programs (like FireAlpaca and Gimp as well), because everything people see on speedpaints using them are "bad animu art" (which is very debatable on itself, I follow a lot of manga style artists and Ive learned a lot with them) and never "good realistic art". It's just lies on how well you know to use the program, I myself was never able to adapt to Photoshop due to many reasons because to me it's too heavy and laggy, over complicated in many aspects and such, so I only use it in the end to add effects, color balance and things like that. Once more, thanks a lot for commenting, and thanks for watching!
I am mesmerized. half way trough it i wold have stopped because i though it was perfect. but you kept going, and it only got better. amazing work i am jealous of your skills
No need to be jealous - keep up practicing and having fun and you improve your art daily even if you don't notice it at first =) THanks a lot and thanks a lot for watching
wow i'm just blown away. I come from a speedpaint watching spree on youtube and while there are so many good artists on here - this just gave me goosebumps and made me realize what you can really achieve to express with art. How it doesn't have to look the same and can be so expressive too. great i subbed, i love it
This is truly amazing. I love the use of light you used, makes the painting look so real! Great job I feel really inspired to work on more tiny details like you! (I myself am a young artist and this really helps me grow!) ❤️
THanks a lot =) And I think it is easier that way too, I dislike getting asked the same thing over and over again xD So I just link stuff and say the tools and such ~
I've learned so much from this speedpaint. This is a masterpiece. The vibe it gives is mysterious, sad but yet interesting. I love it from the higlights to the shading.
Genuinely, one of the best speedpaint videos out there : the artwork is ... breath taking, and this video might actually help me in mastering SAI, and especially the different brushes (GOTTA GET THESE). Keep up the incredible work ! Instant sub for me
I absolutely love this! The way you lay down your colors before smoothing and blending actually made me somewhat understand the different colors that go in to making a specific painting. I always thought it was just a few different shades of 2 colors or so but there were greens and reds/oranges in here too. Definitely subscribing!
Thank you a lot! It is WAY easier to paint like this, in my opinion - Laying the colors under the sketch in Multiply / overlay mode, merging everything and then overpainting it. Is gives a lot of freedom to change the colors while you are still deciding what to do.
I just started digital painting so that actually really helps. I am trying to get grayscale down and get used to my tablet at the moment. It's a lot harder than it looks when you watch other artists on youtube. The whole style you have with the semi-realism in this is soooo beautiful. Do you have any tutorial videos?
Watching videos and people's techiniques actually helps me a lot to this day to improve and learn different techniques and stuff from the software, even if the painitng doesn't look "great". I've learned a lot with SAI users on UA-cam, observing what they do. And the only one that gets close to a tutorial is my "Inner Universe" video, but that one is really old and I don't paint like that anymore. I also have this tutorial I made 5 years ago and which doesnt reflect what I do today, but there are some tips you might find useful: apollo-devotee.tumblr.com/post/11413353066/rabbit-heart-raise-it-up-tribute-behind-the
Thank you so much! I hope you can do some small tutorials some time! Your art is super amazing, and I'm pretty sure people could learn a lot from your techniques. I follow a lot of youtube artists but I fine that I take a little here and there and I have improved but I haven't found a way to do drawings yet that really sticks. I sort of change things up here and there and experiment. I have almost a whole hard cover sketchbook full of random fails. Lol. But yeah. Thank you for responding! It's super cool to talk to other artists sometimes. No one in my family/friends really draws. They are more photographers, musicians, etc.
I am thinking about that, but narrating videos is kind of hard to me. We will see how it rolls. And lol, take a look at my drawings , for example - they vary so much in style and techniques that sometimes I think people might think I have like 15 personalities in me xD And don't worry about sketches, and failing, that's what they are about actually. There's been this "glamourization" of sketches lately, specially with instagram and because some people naturally sketch in a "clean" way, everyone think they should sketch like that with no imperfections. Don't stress about that, the more you sketch and study stuff, the better you get at it and at drawing (I admit I don't nearly sketch as much as I should, sometimes I spend days withouit drawing a single line and thats kind of bad).
Thank you for showing us your references while you draw! I rarely use them but this gives me the feeling its ok to use them. So many times I've seen it where it just seems in the artists head and I just can't do it like that
There is no such thing as an artist who doesn't use references - whether it is pictures or real life subjetcs, nothing can be drawn out of nowhere, everything you draw exists somehow (even if you decide to paint an eldritch monster that isn't real and could make you insane only by looking at it, it would still be based from things we've see). Never be ashamed or hesitant of using refs, old painters used models, and today we have a vast number of pictures and artists out there to be inspired by and see how things work so we can draw them properly. :3
Who would dare dislike this?! This is such a beautiful piece, honest to goodness. I honestly aspire to get thia good one day. Please continue on making all your beautiful art!!
Portraits like that are easier to do in one layer. Paintings with more elements, characters or details are best to draw/paint with many layers~ Thanks a lot!
ok I just came across your channel and I am trying to grow my technique in digital art and the way you shaped your drawing in pt sai is what I have been trying to do for years.
I just really adapted to the program haha. Never really adapted / was able to fully use Photoshop, so I just jumped head first into SAI, for the last 7 years I think, and observed a lot of videos of people using it, I've learned a lot like that =)
Oh sorry! I misunderstood the elapsed time at 12:17 as the duration of your drawing. Still! Three hours is crazy! Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us :)
before watching this video: whatever, nobody will notice if i just stop drawing forever. after watching this video: time to get off my ass and keep going.. you have no idea how much this inspired me. my depression is off the rails right now and i think this was the boost i needed to try art again. thank you.
As someone who also struggles with depression / anxiety, and with a lot of issues regarding my art (even if that sounds weird, in someone else's prespective), I totally understand what you go through. Don't give up, it is hard, but it is worth it, and I mean both developing our art and dealing with mental health issues. I always like to show this meme to people, because it is the evidence anyone can get there =) celticbotan.deviantart.com/art/1999-2003-2016-IMPROVEMENT-MEME-651284596 And thank you a lot for your comment, and for sharing a bit of your story. THat's awesome! My intention was to make her look very mysterious and kind of scary, but very beautiful and alluring at the same time, kind of like a mermaid! Thank you a lot, and thanks for watching!
Glad i found you ! You're the best digital artist i've found here and believe me,i follow a lot of people. Gosh, this looks so real, all the details, the lights, the freaking hair !! Congrats and keep up the incredible work !
hOly moley this is absolutely stunning! the colors, the hair, the lighting, all the little details. I loved watching your process so much, it was so pretty from sketch to finish. love it
I like how I can see what aspect you were taking from each reference photo. You didn't take only from one source, which is a skill in and of itself. A question I have is: Do you usually know what final look you're going for when you start a painting or do you just sort of wing it? And how do you know when to stop? At any point, most people would've called it finished, what indicates a "finished" piece for you?
In this painting, I already had something in mind when I got the references - I had a very clear idea of the close-up portrait of a fantasy woman character with glitering/opalescent freackles, wet hair sticking on her face, blue-ish skin tones. Also, I already knew the portrait of that beautiful Chinese model before I did the painting and I admit it was a major inspiration too :) Generally speaking, it varies a lot - somettimes like in this piece, I already have a clear goal set, sometimes I only have a general idea - for example my "Child of the Forest" painting, I knew I wanted to paint an Ori & The BLind Forest inspired character with the colors of the paintings of William Bouguereau. I just started to sketch and make the composition along the way, pretty much. Or like my Child of Light fanart, I wanted a "watercolor, soft looking" drawing, I had no elaborated ideas on how I would draw Aurora, the pose, etc. Something that is suggested by other experienced artists is to sketch little compositions and thumbnails so the ideas will flow naturally and you will end up having a lot of good ideas you can chose from the thumbnails and put in a final painting. I dont do this very often, even though I should haha. I do a "lazy" version of it that is just trying on the sketch I am working on, sometimes drawing different arms in different positions and picking the one that looks the best for example. I stop when I am satisfied with the painting. The level of details and rendering that are "enough" vary from style to style - sometimes I want it to look more rough, sometimes I want it to be more polished (which was the case of this one), it all depends on what my goal with the painting and the style are. I dont know if that answer was useful at all for you though lol, it sounds a little vague, but thats pretty much it. THank you a lot for watching and for the kind comment/ great questions! :)
Not only is this some of the best digital artwork I have ever seen, but you actually take the time to reply to *every comment!* Your composition is superb, the amount of attention to detail put into this piece is amazing, and your color choices are perfect! bless youtubes random recommendations. Beautiful art, I couldnt look away the entire speed paint.
Thank you
it makes me so happy when artists add the highlight. it just brings it all together. its easy to shade, but highlight takes some skill to do right
Thanks a lot
Eyes as deep as the sea. This is gorgeous.
Thank you very much!
This has got to be one of the most relaxing yet intensifying pieces of art I have ever seen. It makes the face of a woman beautiful yet intimidating. I'm in love with it
This is truly amazing. The attention to details blows me away, I really want more people to see this. Thank you for sharing this proses on UA-cam.

As if the beauty of this piece of work wasn't enough, there's also the crazy amount of detail 😩

this for some reason is a better tutorial than most tutorials here on yt 😐
Im happy it's being useful to you! :D
nice artwork!!!
THanks! =D
it's just... THE BEST DIGITAL PAINTING EVER DONE!!
Ahh
This is amazing work, i'm glad there's people like you who prove paint tool sai can be used as a proffessional painting programme :).
This is insanely good! I couldn't imagine how much practice it took to make art this well.
Stunning! The detail and color combination make it look perfect! Glad I got this in my recommendation list.
Thanks!
It was really cool to see how you used references to create the painting. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot for watching =D
I am mesmerized.

Beautifully and hauntingly done.
thank you a lot!

Aww, thank you
I love all of the details you add! Even the little ones make it so much more... You. It's very unique and very mesmerizing!
I love to paint in little details, even if most of people won't even notice them at all, haha. Thanks a lot!
love how you show and link your references
THanks a lot =) And I think it is easier that way too, I dislike getting asked the same thing over and over again xD So I just link stuff and say the tools and such ~
THIS IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE BEST DIGITAL DRAWINGS I EVER SEEN IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND ACCURATE YOU DESERVE MORE ATTENTION
Ahhhhh thank you!
This is truly amazing. The amount of attention you gave to the colors made this experience even better for me. Kudos my dude
Thank you so much!
Such a good control of the colours! Great piece!
thanks a lot!
I've learned so much from this speedpaint. This is a masterpiece. The vibe it gives is mysterious, sad but yet interesting. I love it from the higlights to the shading.

uma das artes digitais mais bonitas que eu já vi, muito orgulho de saber que é de uma brasileira
Muito obrigada

Linda paleta de cores!
It is a very beautiful artwork I have seen. This is one of the masterpieces
Thank you so much!

I've made some book covers in the past, actually =) Mostly Brazilian YA's.

Also, I already knew the portrait of that beautiful Chinese model before I did the painting and I admit it was a major inspiration too :)
Generally speaking, it varies a lot - somettimes like in this piece, I already have a clear goal set, sometimes I only have a general idea - for example my "Child of the Forest" painting, I knew I wanted to paint an Ori & The BLind Forest inspired character with the colors of the paintings of William Bouguereau.
So beautiful...
IT SO BEAUTIFUL AND THE LIGHTING😍
