Philippines compulsory trains its nationals seeking work abroad about the country's local culture and the do's and the don't before leaving . This is especially true for certain countries whose culture may be extremely on one end of the spectrum for people who have never stepped out of the Philippines.

@@arko966 I do agree The youth today often derive their understanding of civics and societal behavior from OTT platforms, social media, and Bollywood, which glorify entertainment over responsibility. These mediums rarely emphasize civic duty, accountability, or long-term thinking, leaving many young minds thoughtless and distracted. In a country like India, where civic education is not prioritized, this further deepens the problem. Without proper guidance, role models, or structured education, expecting them to grasp and exhibit civic sense becomes unrealistic. The solution lies in reforming foundational values.

I completely agree. I have seen parents encouraging their children to throw garbage on the streets of Kerala, and even more sadly, in the Periyar Tiger Reserve. When I asked a child to throw an empty bottle in the trash bin instead of on the road, the father intervened to warn me, claiming that he was a "big shot" from North India. I sarcastically responded, "Jai to Swachh Bharat," and told him he should be ashamed. I then picked up the empty bottle myself and dropped it in the bin. He was left speechless.
I see even on a daily basis locals throw garbage even in the poshest colony and no one says anything since they are locals... In coimbatore itself...no one has any idea where the garbage bin is..... in the whole city😂😂. Kovai isn't far from Kerala.

I do agree As a Himachali, it’s disheartening, at my place, to see tourists, particularly from Haryana, UP, and Delhi, often disrespecting the natural beauty and serenity of our tourist destinations. Many engage in littering, reckless driving, and loud behavior, disrupting the peace and harming the environment. Such actions reflect a lack of civic sense and respect for local culture. While tourism boosts the economy, irresponsible behavior tarnishes the region’s charm. Strict enforcement of rules and educating visitors about responsible tourism are vital for preserving Himachal's heritage.
Couldn't agree more. The resentment and backlash among kannadigas towards North Indians is exactly due to this attitude. The new wave of migrants due to IT boom from Delhi, Haryana , Bihar and UP have a superiority complex , come with an attitude of South Indians are ' Kale kalute madrasi' , make fun of culture, food , accent, skin colour and have the audacity to tell that we are not Indians !!! I travelled to Gujarat recently and was on a safari tour in the Gir forest area. I experience the same "Bharat Mathaa ki jai" chant. My worst experience was in jungle lodges, kabini (karapur forest). We were on a jeep safari in the early morning; the idea was to spot wildlife. The guide had asked everyone to keep quiet and speak softly if necessary. A guy had come with his small kid. After a few minutes of starting the safari, the guy started teaching his kid english alphabet loudly :) I don't know where he was from, but it was rude and ruined the safari experience for everyone in the jeep. No one would say anything to him, including the guide. I don't know why the guy chose to come to a forest resort on a reasonably expensive trip, got up early in the morning to go to safari, only to teach his 4-5 year old alphabets! May be he was expecting tigers and leopards to show up as soon as the safari ride started, like in a zoo, and may be he got bored when it did not happen. It beats me to this day.

I tend to agree with him because I've studied, lived & worked across North, South & East India. Further it was one of horrible experience in a recent train journey . Disclaimer : I do not have any intention to made remarks on any region/state or particular people... but thats the truth. Traveled from Bengaluru to Trichy in north bound train which originate from Rajasthan , a group of North indian people travelled in AC 3 tier , literally very loudly speaking and made the blankets so messy by splitting foods in the seat and used the blankets to wipe it. Finally I learnt a life lesson that don't ever book a seat ina train of northern railways... I always travel in southern railways and they're are pretty hygienic and people also follow railway rules compared to waht I saw in north trains... Now I understood that why south people always hesitate and don't go for northern railways.... I just shared my experience..

The problem is that all southern states which got richer through loot and theft of resources from the so called BIMARU states seem to try and preach themselves as better. It's true. They were so loud even at the border between canada and usa that i could not hear my name being called out. i had to change my seat and go closer to the speaker to hear when they called again.
Playing Punjabi music on a speaker phone while touring in Switzerland, how annoying was that for others. As an Indian, I was ashamed of myself due to my fellow citizens behaviour. Like in China, government must educate people about how to behave in foreign countries before people going on tourism.
Agree, we were on a ferry to an island in Pattaya, there was a group of men from Delhi or Haryana or Punjab, or idk some region.. They were blasting haryanvi songs, everyone could hear it, my siblings and I felt so embarrassed, how can indians expect foreigners to treat them respectfully if they exhibit these kinds of behaviours outside.
I totally agree. When we step out our country, others are watching and will judge us generalize that Indians are so rude and impolite, bringing a bad name for everyone from India. At least till now we have a great respect in foreign countries but if this word spreads which will not take long with multimedia we will be making it difficult for others who come later. Wherever we go we are like ambassadors for the country so we have to watch how we talk or behave. They usually don’t know the difference between North and South Indians we are only viewed as Indians.
Because your whole education system is corrupt and the colonial education system which can only produce servants of USA and European companies and blindly follow other western countries cultures. Your education system failed to produce the owner of a company like Chinese people.
I am a Indian from the South. I do encountered loud behaviour and less regard for standing in ques by our brothers from the North. Hurt by the way they treated dark skinned people. But I believe they are our brothers. In the past we made lot of mistakes by allowing the outsiders take advantage of our minor differences, but not any more. They should be reminded politely to follow the correct method and in due course they will understand.
North Indians behaviour or thinking about South Indian will never change, they want only Hindi to be the national language, because black skin to people North India or always down trodden, they think common South Indian people also in the same way.
Agree with you, recently visited Phuket, we were travelling in a van to catch a ferry for 2 hours drive from our hotel, there were few other people including foreigners and 5 from delhi, the kind of ruckus they created in the van, loud hindi music from phones, screaming, got everyone irritated, no respect for others privacy, made the entire journey a nightmare.
This discussion is SO IMPORTANT!! Because i feel that there are lots of Indians that go abroad and have studied hard and worked hard and they get a lot of recognition world wide. We know lots of examples of this. However, what we see now is the bad behavior of people here that are on social media constantly bragging about the country. It is too much!! India has a long, long way to go, for God's sake! The level of poverty may be normal to everyone in india but the rest of the world, especially the West, DO NOT LIKE IT. And that is one of the reasons that they will speak out about the problems in India. And then what happens? Indians from all over with their pride will attack this person. They refuse to accept that there are problems in their country!! Instead, they will constantly deflect to pointing out other countries etc. They NEVER want to admit that India has these problems!!! NEVER!! And this infuriates the people in the West! They really don't want to attack India but they feel it is the only way to get India to change. They see dirt poor people living on the streets in 2024/5 and they are appalled! They know of the super rich Ambanis and Adanis, yet they have to witness such pain and suffering in human beings. And their Christian religion sees everyone as equal, and they feel it is so wrong that Indians allow this to happen in their country and then like to boast about being a superpower! Unfortunately for Indians, they see the poor...but they don't see them. They see a poor beggar, a child, approaching their vehicle at a traffic stop, and they roll their windows up, and ignor the child. People in India see the poor as normal. Whereas the West has tried to take care of their poor. Sure, they have poor, but you don't see children begging on the streets! Now, there are issues apart from too much pride and boasting. The lack of basic etiquette and the way to behave. They lack the basic words, "excuse me Sir or Madam", or "Please.." or "Thank you". Many do not do that back home and so they don't have it in them to do the same abroad". People abroad que up in line and wait their turn. When are people in India going to do this??? It is terrible in India where 20 people will surround one person at a counter and force their way to get service first! No respect for all the othet people that got there first. How difficult it is to get people to stand in line at ANY place! In Brazil i have seen people wait in line at the bus stop. These poor people there will line up and wait for the bus. No jumping the line. And all this can be learned!! But the leaders in India are too proud, they think they are the best, and nothing is done! Japan used to have open sewers in Tokyo before WWII. It smelled so bad everywhere. And look at them today!! All these things can happen! But first acknowledge you have a problem!! Stop the foolish pride!! Lean basic etiquette in schools! Learn not to litter! Learn proper ways to use a toilet...all can be done!! A lot of countries made these changes thru public service announcements using big time actors. In the US they had thes shown before a movie was shown in a cinema. Instead Bollywood actors like SRK are selling and promoting "Fair and lovely" skin whitening cream! And the whole country adores him and goes and buys the fake cream and have low self esteem

Absolutely bang on point. What has this hyper nationalism got us. To be honest, globally just disdain. We are nowhere close to being called a developed nation. The poor have become poorer, corruption is rampant in every corner of the country. Still, the South of India by virtue of their education and merit earn laurels for the country. As sad as it may sound, but most atrocities hurled at Indians abroad that come to light, when scrutinised mostly come from North Indian states. This is not to blame a particular part of the country for bringing disrepute to the nation, but it's a collective effort for all. In the West, even a homeless person will pick a chocolate wrapper and throw it in a bin. That civics sense comes doesn't just come from education but real consideration for it's country and its people. That's ingrained in them since their childhood. Basic discipline. And we lack it totally.

We were the only Indians in the whole compartment of I believe the whole train but that experience didn't really go that well. The whole family was loud and the kids roaming around the train like they usual do in Indian trains, their constant eating of Indian snacks with lack of hygiene made the French stare at them non-stop to which the Indian couple didn't really understand what were they doing? Later, they video called someone sharing a conversation without having any headphones on which clearly disturbed not only me but other fellow passengers. A moment came when the lady shared her snacks with me where out of respect I took a bite but when the other French passenger looked at me I said, "I am not one of them"! I kind of felt bad what I said and the way I said it but it just came out of that unexpected embarassing experience. It might have been their 1st overseas trip or may be new to the French culture but something what we Indians fail to understand is that there might be Indians everywhere in the world but not the entire world is India! Any foreigner visiting India they try to blend in with our culture whereas on the other hand we become so adamant that we completely ignore cultures of other countries as tourists and be the same which leads to such insults of badging us as Bad Indian Tourists. Irrespective of which part you are from India, just learn to be civilized not only in your own country but overseas as well. If a British man travelling in India starts chanting "Long Live King Charles III" I can only imagine the kind of hate and beating these Indians would lead to against him.

Agree with Mr. Handa about obnoxious behavior of some boorish Indian tourists which brings a bad name to India. However, it's not limited to just North Indians, although they may be on the higher side. During my visit to Agra Fort a few months back a group of Keralite students created such a din, we were unable to hear the guide. In a few tourist places in Karnataka it was my fellow Kannadigas. In Singapore it was a bunch of Punjabis. Mostly it's the younger generation who have got everything easy which is ill-mannered. Good manners, etiquette, civic sense, politeness etc. should be made a part of school curriculum since it looks like parents are not inculcating the same in their children.
Some North Indian states peopls have very louder voice, they talk like you feel he is trying to argue with you, They need to understand that other state people have no habit to talk in loude.
In which school in India or parents themselves teaching basic manners and etiquette??There is a lot need to be changed in education system as well as on parenting of kids at present but nobody is talking about it …all are circling around the topic but with no solution talk about the same

In Melbourne, at last year's New Year's party, a group of guys started slogan-chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and other things which more people joined, which made other nationalities feel put off and somewhat terrified. Imagine being in Delhi or Mumbai, and a large group of immigrants is chanting and acting disorderly, it would put you off too.

Very true, we don't have que discipline in Temples, even in big airports, every where,. I have seen many times they make calls and speak loudly while aeroplane touch down while landing!!
When we lived in Bengaluru,a north indian family was living in the opposite apartment flat. Friends and relatives visited them often. One Saturday midnight I woke up suddenly as I heard some people were shouting in the road side, I came out to the balcony to check. I just saw that north Indian family and their friends chatting loudly in the middle of the road at about 12.30 midnight. They never felt ashamed and even continued their chat for more than half an hour in the midnight.
This is because we don't follow rules in India, if you are forced the follow discipline in our country, you will respect others and other nations when you travel . We need strict laws and monitoring to fine people who does it in India first. Then things will change.
As a north Indian (Punjabi) and an introvert, i can't help but to agree with him.. The youth today often derive their understanding of civics and societal behavior from OTT platforms, social media, and Bollywood, which glorify entertainment over responsibility.

Best teaching.

As a Himachali, it’s disheartening, at my place, to see tourists, particularly from Haryana, UP, and Delhi, often disrespecting the natural beauty and serenity of our tourist destinations.

They also probably smelled bad am I right?
The same shitty behaviour they still do while living in western countries !!!
Indians go back ur country 🤮.

I 101% agree with this man.
Couple of weeks back I was travelling in France and took a train from Marseille (South of France) to Paris. Since I was travelling alone I booked a single seat to the side and to my fate came across a Gujarati family of 4. We were the only Indians in the whole compartment of I believe the whole train but that experience didn't really go that well. The couple looked in their mid 30s with two young kids and at 1st we just shared a smile, however, once the journey started it, EMBARASSMENT was a small word.
