My grandpa was a muay thai fighter before and a bit after the cambodian civil war, never knew him he died of cancer a few months after I was born but everytime I watched this movie (wich was like everyday) my grandma always told me that he actually pulled of this move in a actual fight, idk if it’s true but if it is then yeah you can actually do it too and this move is fucking badass
Muay Thai and it's use of elbow and knee strikes is devastating. Your knees and elbows are the hardest spots of your body to strike with. Even inches from your opponent, elbows and knees are insanely affective.
I would like to ask why many people think that Muay thai, western boxing, karate and Brazilian jitjitsu are more stronger and effective than Chinese kung fu and taekwondo ?
@@davidyuen42 alright. 1. Muay Thai has power over speed kicks and skin cutting elbow strikes and knee attack it also has a move that can keep opponent away which is the teep kick and the clinch which may sound simple but is hella deadly and Muay Thai has hardcore conditioning which is continuously hitting your shin nerves everyday which develops bones over it. 2. Western boxing is all about hit and not get hit which means it includes a lot of evasive head movements and boxers also do a lot of footwork training which means they can hit and get away fast and they are also used to being punched and they throw punches with their bodyweight behind it so it has more power than most other combat arts and they also don't throw them randomly, they throw it in combinations and throw punches where your guard is weak and there's two types of boxer which is outfighter and inboxer. Outfighters provoke you while keeping distance while inboxers are aggressive fighters who throw power punches right to your face by being inside guard. 3.do I really need to explain why grappling is better? Anyway they'll basically throw you to the ground and Either choke the life out of you or break you bones. But how will they throw you to ground? Literally grab your hand and hip throw or shoulder throw you. 4. Idk much about karate all I know is basically they also have tough conditioning and power over speed strikes if that's even correct and yes they are effective in mma fights proven by that ONE fighter. Hope you'll read this and understand. And watch more UFC or any fighting video that isn't a movie. Also search up Muay Thai vs tkd and you'll see a match up with the Muay Thai fighter being severely held back by the tkd rules not allowing him to utilize elbows, knees, and clinching. That's all
I love how the workers keep chiseling away at the Buddha while Ong Bak fights - While the old man watches on from his wheel chair. This fight is just like a Street Fighter match haha
This was one of the best movie then times which looks like in a real life fighting. It's kind of hard to see such type of movies showing on our TVs nowadays. The guy really displayed his talent to the fullest in the movie which became a sensational movie worldwide till now
Headcanon: Ting is so blessed with victory in battle throughout this movie because of the spiritual journey his past life had to go through in the 3rd movie…although lighting his pants on fire to add burning damage to his kicks a couple fight scenes prior was just a flex

indeed... I think a couple of the knee strikes would have broken the guy ribs he wouldnt be able to fight in that kinda pain.
