Absolutely loved this tour and I loved first seeing this in one of my favorite films a summer’s place Thank you for this tour. You did a wonderful job.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful personal story of your family and the iconic walker house. I’ve admired this house for years even as a child walking on the beach below. I have heard that the house recently sold. I’m very surprised you would have sold the house.
Thank you so much for this. Your great grandmother’s home resembles the home my Mother designed and had built for my parents retirement. My parents were not at all wealthy, they were farmers. My Mom always said that they (she) had champagne taste w a beer budget. It’s now apparent to me, she had studied FLW and his design. I’m in awe of this home. So cozy.
Just a wonderful presentation, highlighting the beauty of the house, the irascible nature of the architect, and the passion of the original owner and succeeding generations. So much much more informative coming from the great grandson whose love for the property illuminates all the facts with a warmth that could come from no one else. Thank you.
I'm curious as to why you sold the home given such a long legacy with your family. Kind of sad. I've visited Carmel every summer for 32 years and always visit this home after a nice walk on the beach. Your history stories brings it far closer to my heart given so many times I have paid it a visit. Thank you.
Compared to many houses { Sturges, Pew, Kauffman, Affleck, among others } it appears that the parapet of the terrace is significantly lower than was customary for Wright. It is intrigueing to wonder what justified such a departure from a long standing strategy of Wright's. I think the lower height works better, at least in this case.
Thanks for the history of the Walker House. I always enjoy hearing and reading about FLW homes. I remember seeing the Walker House in the movie “A Summer Place” but the interior seems different somehow. Am I mistaken or did they use a studio set for the interior shots? Thanks Again

I read the house on the rocks sold for 22 million, I'm sure that had a lot to do with it!!
Thanks for sharing with much passion and appreciation.🙌🏽

The cost of maintenance as well as property taxes Im sure thats a big part.

Yes rhey did use a set for interiors
Wonder if the Walter Lamb bronze furniture is still there.
I think the correspondence is pretty funny as Write is in no way a threat. I think I would like to have met these people .
Why did you Sale this wonderful historic Home?
The family recently sold this home.
I suppose the joy is similar to one who buys a boat, being that the two happiest days of his life are when he buys the vessel...
And when she s sold
