I have some constructive criticism if you'd like it! The ending of these podcasts sometimes seems a bit abrupt. You could smooth the transition by asking your guest if they have any closing remarks or anything to 'plug' outside of what you already reference. Perhaps include an invitation to return sometime! I think that would make the last 2 minutes flow much better. Otherwise, this is a super cool 'show' you have! Everyone is always very enthusiastic, and you're great at getting people to open up about their interests. Can't wait to see the next episode!
I think I can answer the question about why Romulus was helped by a woodpecker. The woodpecker was an animal sacred to Mars. Mars was, of course, the father of Romulus and Remus. So the woodpecker helped Romulus at the command of Mars. 🙂
I think one reason the 1984 revival of Jeopardy was so successful is because, by a lucky coincidence, it premiered right after Weird Al released a song about it.
And the contestants who were on Art Fleming's version of Jeopardy sat down other than stood behind a dais. And the announcer became iconic because he was the original announcer of SNL Don Pardo.
Trivia games depend on a shared block of knowledge - and now with universal education and shared cultural pursuits - brought about through radio, TV, books - it becomes a game we can all indulge in and share. "Get-um up Scout!"
I read the title "Trivia, Ancient and Modern" and thought to myself "I've heard of Trieste, Tivoli, Trier... I wonder where the ancient city of Trivia is". Then it hit me how dumb I am. 🤦♀
Not a guest I expected, but a welcome surprise! Fun episode
a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
Ken Jennings is a deeply smart and interesting person!

Wow cool celebrity catch!

Was this not already uploaded once? Great episode regardless!
It was - I had it up on the toldinstone channel over the weekend to promote that buzzword game.

So in light of high tech cheating in chess championships I wonder if trivia shows are vulnerable. How different is security between the two?
Oh man, this episode should be re-promoted!
