Florence Henderson was an excellent Broadway soprano who did many excellent performances in Fanny Oklahoma South Pacific The sound of music and a girl who came to lunch to name a few but she wasnt good in this song too much sung and with few expression.Sondheim didnt want the song to ve sung but to be interpreted so the best performers were actresses like Glynis Johns Jean Simmons Dame Judy Dench Dame Angela Lansbury and others. Some singers were very good too Barbara Cook Dame Cléo Laine Barbra Streisand Sally Ann Howes etc because they understood what Sondheim wanted. It wasnt Florence Henderson case she wasnt good in this song
This was an excellent number that showcased her vocal talent and range. I'm guessing that they had her sing it to a faster tempo than usual for this song for time constraints on the show.
Huh. After years of watching this, I just noticed the little part from “little girl blue” about the raindrops? Any significance for this addition to the song?
The clowns are RIGHT THERE, Florence. They're on stage with you!
When you’re down here Mrs Brady, you’ll float too........

That was excellent, though I wouldn't have appreciated it as a child.

THIS IS AWESOME
clowns....
Beautiful voice. Freaky scary clowns. You'd have to be bipolar to glean any normalcy in this act.
Wow! What an....interesting interpretation of the song. LOL! I'm strangely fascinated and horrified. Florence has got a terrific voice, though!
I think that is Homie The Clown🤡 behind Mrs. Brady!😂

Little Girl Blue is a song by Rodgers and Hart. It is not part of Send in the Clowns by Sondheim.
@@robertgold3868 that type of mashup was common in the day
Where the hell did that part in the song about raindrops come from?
The raindrops are some of the lyrics in Litttle Girl Blue, which is a song by Rodgers and Hart. It is not part of Send in the Clowns by Sondheim.
Dreadful........
Oh God, I can't ..
