I think the issue I had was when they started poking fun at some of the customs. I get the commentary on the business part (and I agree with that) but people and their customs should be respected if it isn't hurting anyone. I definitely agree about the people getting into it for profit and greed and that is one of my biggest problems with most organized religion. But if someone wants to wear a necklace or a thread around their wrist because it gives them comfort in a belief then I wouldn't make a joke about it. I still liked the movie but I think in a couple points it may have just made a bit too much of a joke.

Some dude has commented in all 3 reaction videos for PK that he's cancelling his membership because of the movie choice🤣. Why are some viewers so butthurt and sensitive? The second anyone questions beliefs or even raises an issue about it, instantly they are labelled anti-hindu, anti-national and boycotted. Like come on, be mature. Conversations and asking questions is how this world goes forward.
Our Sanatan (Hindu) culture is the only culture that allows critiques and asking questions! Shivpurana is full of questions! It's really a good movie. I liked the dialogue - "You think you can protect the god who made you. " We should ask question, i do that with my parents and they always that it in positive way. (My parents are hindu and i'm atheist). Also my parents being hindu loved this movie and also OMG as well. We need to be open about these things.

Imho, I think the movie primarily focused on Hinduism because it is the majority religion in India and the "godmen" culture is quite widespread. Perhaps many are well meaning but there is a certain section that peddles lies in the name of worship. You can see televangelists in the US doing the same - so, it would make more sense in the US to focus on Christianity.

Josh i respect your opinions but this time it felt like you were being way too careful about what you say just cause you know that most Indian people are touchy about their religion, and about what you said that it focused more on hinduism is because majority of the people here follow hinduism. Now if the same film was made in Hollywood do you think they will focus more on other religions or just Christianity? We all know the answer to that. Also i don't think this film in any way was saying that don't believe in god or don't follow your religion, it simply said ask questions for the number of things these "god- people" make us common folks do in the name of religion. And I think this movie was way too subdued in its messaging about religion cause i know for sure if it was a Hollywood movie they would have shredded Christianity to pieces because of the kind of sentiments people in the west about it.
I definitely agree with you that I was being careful because anytime it comes to a sensitive subject I try to respect others' beliefs. I think the parts where it showed the business side (like in OMG) I thought were helpful and insightful but the parts that had jokes about customs that don't hurt anyone may have gone a bit far. About Hollywood, 💯. I even worked on a TV series on HBO that shredded the business side of evangelicals and made a giant mockery of it. I guess I also have sentiments for customs of Hinduism because my extended family observes many of the traditions. I must say again that of course I agree that business shouldn't have a requirement in religion. Like before Lutheran came about the Catholic church was selling spots in heaven. Pay X amount and you will go to heaven.... Still some people believe in that.

This was a bold and much needed movie. It reminded people to not get lost in the nitty grittys of idol worship and godmen cult following and instead connect with god at a deeper level.

The movie tried to take a logical approach to religion and its constructs. The highlight or the key takeaway from the movie was was "TO BELEIVE in the GOD who created US rather than the GOD WE created".. You have seen OMG and I feel that movie is more critical of religion (in the first half) in a way but people targeted PK more due to Aamir Khan forgetting that the director (Raju Hirani), the story writers(Raju Hirani and Abhijat Joshi), producers (Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Raju Hirani) and the actors were all a team that created the movie and not alone Aamir Khan.

In this movie, they tried to highlight Islamophobia and demeaning the Hinduism and culture.
It could be fair enough, if they criticize all religions superstition. But, as usual Bollywood and Khan gang try to insult Hinduism as whole.
So, though people enjoy screenplay, but this film onwards, people of India started hate towards whole Bollywood.

I perceived the movie to be promoting a particular religious ideology that isn't indigenous to India. The film raises questions like 'Did God create us or did we create God?', 'Why does God need our protection?', and 'Why does God need middlemen to communicate with us?' In my opinion, these questions are nonsensical since belief in a 'creator' is inherently dogmatic. These questions seem to differentiate Abrahamic/monotheistic faiths from folklore Hinduism, where gods/deities are human creations, protected through rituals, and communicate through specialized individuals. I found the movie's arguments lacking in substance, but nonetheless, it was highly entertaining."

You see the movie is mainly made for the Indian audiences, so that's why they targeted Hindu religion. They wanted to make us think and get our religion emotions hurt so that we can start asking questions and don't blindly follow them. But they did a great job by showing other religions as well. If this movie was made in America, then it would be more about Christianity. Imagine they focus on Christianity in this movie and Indian people would say - we know Christianity is bad, our Hinduism is the best in the world. Director didn't want that to happen that's why. And it's hard for a 3 hours movie to show about all the religions in details and establish the plot and the message of the movie. If it's a web series, then they might show about all the wrong numbers in different episodes.

I think Miguel liked the movie a lot more because he was open minded, where Josh already had some preconceived notions about the movie. I think this movie was never about criticizing religion but about criticising the religious dogmatism. And it makes sense for it to be about Hinduism as India is majority Hindu. I have not seen an American movie criticising Hinduism as equally as Christinatity coz they are majority Christian. And this is a movie made by a Hindu Writer and a director. Also it is a known fact that Aamir Khan got criticised for this movie as he is a Muslim criticising Hinduism but which makes zero sense as he had no inputs in the writing or directing process, which also explains another point which the movie was trying to made about how muslims are easy targets in this country.

The Kargil war actually happened and you can watch the actual footage of the war on youtube as a part of actual news coverage.
The acting is good and the Music and the Background score is Extremely good. Plus, it is based on True Events(Not a true story). The acting in this movie is simply Fabulous.

People saying that this movie is mostly about Hinduism. What’s wrong with that? India has majority of Hindus so they focus on it. And that same logic goes for movies for all religions in all countries. But also this movie touched on all religions and respectfully at that. Actually muslims do have label/identity
They were already dealing with a bit of sensitive topic in the movie and they chose to add a geopolitical love story into it as well which didn't help. They also added a bomb blast in the mix for good measure when the movie had no need for it whatsoever. They tried to cram too much in one movie, and it shows. Personally I think the movie is too bloated with unnecessary plot points.
Also to all the people of faith, my request to you would be to not get negatively influenced by fake gurus, maulanas, priests, etc. who peddle hatred in the name of religion. Not to mention that the most of the producers, directors and actors working on this movie follow their own faiths and customs in their personal lives which they are mocking here. Hypocrisy is thy name.
It's like they were trying to generate controversy to sell tickets (news flash, they were!), a strategy which is being used increasingly well nowadays in Hollywood as well, might I add.

Hindus don't worship idols or god instead they worship the deity through idols only after giving it divinity by doing "pran pratista", Hindus accept many ways to realize reality and one of them is to invoke spiritual realization by surrendering ego through deities to become bhrama but there are many other darshans & practices as well . According to English, God is The source of creation hence only bhrama is god, everything has its own deep symbolic significance like for example replacing of Ganeshji head by shiva(the consciousness) symbolizes replacing arrogance and establishing auspiciousness hence every new work is started with ganesh..likewise for knowing metaphorical meanings of Purush&Pakriti ,shiv parivar etc see orignal texts instead of films that promote misinformation
Some Hindus get rid of the arrogance(caused by maya) by surrendering to deities and once one get rid of maya(illusionary world) of senses they get to know about true self as to later on become all inclusive bhrama , but there are many non theistic schools of thoughts in hindu philosophy also like charvaka philosophy, certain approaches of vaisheshika system or even nasadiya sukt..old Indian universities like nalanda ,sharda peth ,Takashila etc were destroyed in centuries of destruction hence certain misinformation is prevelant
