Love him or hate him...folks seem to have the need to pick one. Don't believe me? Read his critical reviews or just scroll through today's comments! I can't imagine the pressure put on him because of his famous family name...I mean, he could have made a nice safe profitable career just covering his daddy's and granddaddy's songs...but nope. Hank III carried that self-destructive outlaw gene that pushed him to be himself regardless of the cost. Thanks Don for doing this request...I know its not a particularly "thinking-man's" song but for me personally, it elicits a certain melancholy that originated in some of my darker years. The superb instrumentation, a subtle but catchy melody, and the drawn out nasally notes is just pure old-school whiskey-sippin' h0nky-tonk. Those who were there back in the day will know exactly what I'm talking about.
@David Emswiler Totally agree with you on the pressure on the offspring of super-famous (not just regular-famous) people having challenges that most can't comprehend. It was a nice chance to hear a good song of his. I had done another one of his about a month ago but stopped about halfway through it because it was more metal than anything else, so this was a welcome reprieve. Thanks for the suggestion. And now for those 99 Bottles of Beer On The Wall.... Ha!
Proof that musical talent can be inherited. Wonder if he also has the songwriter gene? Hank, Sr was a genius, one of the best in history, and Hank, Jr wasn’t bad, himself.
When Nashville first saw Hank the III they got scared and try to make his identity different but he wasn't having none of it and their response is to not promote him which they did but Hank III didn't care he simply will continue the trend of being Hank's Grandson keeping the music alive.
Hank 3 is a true outlaw country hellbilly heavy medal playing bad ass we miss you hank 3 hope you come outta your cave soon and give us some more of your honest kickass hell raising music and your right POP COUNTRY Really SUCKS!!!!!!!;
This song is from his album Straight To Hell...I always liked this song. Really Cool seeing it live. He sounds alittle like his grandfather Hank Sr n Looks like him somewhat too. He is a Rebel like his Grandpa n Dad Bocephus.
I love hank 3. This was a great review, you actually listen to the song and do the majority of the review at the end with a few throughout. So many of the reviewers seem to stop every 10-15 seconds and make comments which kinda kills the fun of hearing the song. Subscribed.
You should hear his version of Johnny Cash's song Cocaine Blues. saw him in1998 and he was only doing country at that time. He was so nice and friendly.
@dan sigurdson It was a lot of fun for me seeing so many folks wishing you a happy birthday, and just as good was finding out how many have been wondering what HAKAD meant!! Hope your day was a good one for you and that it was AKAB!! :-)
Some great slide guitar on this one from Hank 111 and he does bear an uncanny resemblence to his legendary grandad. No concessions here to "Nashville" country here and it is good to see the family tradition being continued in this way. Excellent review/rating and keep rockin' dat country, Don.
I have to be honest Don. I almost didn't watch this video. Hank 3 hasn't ever been able to keep my attention. But I'm glad I watched this. I'll dig a little deeper now
@Warren Burlingame I get it. I actually started reacting to a 3 song about a month ago and stopped midway through it because it wasn't country, it was metal. People would have blasted me and/or him for that.
How the hell could you say he didn't get your attention wow Hank 3 is great seen him live several times he hasn't played in a few years however when seen him great show and he's one of very very few musicians that will talk with you shake hands take pictures etc he's a true outlaw country singer not this new bullshit bubble gum pop country music that's my opinion love outlaw country
lll sounds and look more like his grandfather than his daddy. I never thought Jr. looked or sounded like Sr. Even his stage presence is more like his Grand Daddy! All are great.
Hi Don it’s me again I haven’t commented lately on anything. Hank Williams 3 I think looks and sounds like his grandpa not his dad. This is a good song I like it, now I don’t remember if I requested an artist lately but I’ve been listing to this couple so I’m requesting this song it’s called “ The last time I saw you “ It is sung by Caleb Kluader and Reeb Wilms. Now Caleb wrote the song and I think Reeb sounds a lot like Kitty Wells. They are out of Portland Oregon. I don’t think you’ll regret it you liked my last one Tennessee Stud ok 👍 on the video and Don stay safe.
3:53, yes I've always heard it. 3 is a completely diff person and shouldn't be compared to anyone. Not even Hank Sr. 3 always tried to stand on his own two feet and didn't wanna sound like his grandad.
I love your reaction my man.... But, it's always the reminder for me watching a nice guy like you that most have not lived really "low" or experienced the absolute worst out of a spouse, that is not normal. Also, are you not familiar with hank3's past? Look it up sometime, very interesting compared to how we all would assume it to be.
@Dale Dubose It's the third one I reacted to but only the second one I uploaded. I reacted to a sub request about a month ago and the song wasn't even close to country, it was metal. here's the link to Mississippi Mud that I did a while back: ua-cam.com/video/FkwDZioDKlc/v-deo.html
@@RockN2Country thanks. Try The Legend of D Ray White. Great song about a family in West Virginia. But be careful, discovering them on UA-cam will lead you down a wild rabbit hole.
He sounds like Hank Sr in other songs, but not here. I don't like his voice here at all- it's flat and almost dead. Either it's the key or his voice has changed, but I don't care for it at all. I'd definitely recommend listening to his earlier stuff, especially of his grandpa's songs.
Seen him live 7 times and he was always amazing. He would play 4 hour shows and was full throttle from start to finish
I've always thought he sounds more like his grandpa.
Looks like him too
Listen to him sing one of his grandpa's songs then his grandpa damn similar sound and almost looks like his grandpa, been a fan for years
Looks it too
Hank 3 is the GOAT. Seen him about 10 times our here in California. Can't wait to see him come back

Honestly hank 3 is amazing I've personally listened to him for a about 4 years or so and their all great even the more rock and metal stuff is great
Love me an assjack album
“I saw a ghost! “Minnie Pearl when she saw Hank 3!
Hank 111!!!
He looks and sounds like his grandaddy Hank Sr!
Don, did you see the larger "square" neck on the dobro like I described?
@CowTownCustoms I actually did!! Thanks for the education-it stuck. :-)
@@RockN2Country if you’re curious about the guy playing, that looks like Andy Gibson…he’s absolutely amazing.
Hank the third is splitting image of Hank senior !!! Great voice !!
Best song. I play this in honor of my estranged wife.
He sounds like his grandfather
Tennessee hellbilly and member of the road dog riders, no regrets for what we do, damn right and rebel proud. III 🇺🇲
He is my favorite Hank! Always thought he looked like his grandpapa.
He definitely does almost sounds like him too. Im glad to see some women enjoying hank 3 the hellbilly
No question

Three shades of black is a bad ass song too!!!!! Prob my favorite!! Can't wait till he starts making music again!!!
An evening with Hank III
I love the sound of his voice in this song. Like I said in other comments, he has songs where he sounds remarkably like his grandpa, Hank Williams.
Awesome!!!! This is one of his best songs!!!! Tia Sprockett sang back up on this one! And sang this with him at one his shows! Love me some Hank 3!
Wish we could hang and jam together
Seen Hank III three times got to meet him once at the knitting factory in reno Nevada after he played a 4 hour show. He's a down to earth fella.

Definitely should listen to HANK III - country heroes. Awesome song
We were so sick with the cold from this show. It was snowing
This song is from his album Straight To Hell...I always liked this song. Really Cool seeing it live. He sounds alittle like his grandfather Hank Sr n Looks like him somewhat too. He is a Rebel like his Grandpa n Dad Bocephus.
Hank 3rd sounds a lot like Hank Sr and Hank Jr combined to me. He defiantly has his own style. Good way to get the day going . Keep up the good work!
There was some great Dobro work in that tune........ great band all round... I enjoyed it first time hearing it
Andy Gibson is a hell of a picker, for sure! You should see him on lap steel.
The Cotillion in Wichita, KS. Saw THC there a few years back
The Punk concert after the country show is the one you want to see. The song ‘Thunderstorms and Neon Signs’ will make you believe in reincarnation.

Check out IV & The Strange Band “Son Of Sin”. It’s Hank III’s kid and it’s damn catchy.
Like his dad he had to find his own way just as Hank Jr had to shed his father's shadow so did Hank the 3rd and he has done that he sounds great

Should definitely check out 3 Shades of Black if you enjoyed this one.
I requested this last night, and you published it a month ago. How did you do that? Lol

He doesn't go by his dad's sound. Ive met him multiple times he's more influenced by Hank Sr even tho his music is more...hardvore
Check out the album “the three hanks” they intertwine the three of them in hank sr songs. It sounds so legit
A good song but definitely not his best or worst. I’d recommend D. Ray White or Calling Your Name.
If you haven't yet you should check out I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water by Stonewall Jackson
He sounds like his grand dad
Hoping you'll do corb lund- Student visas. I know you like the story telling songs as I do!
