    This is such a weird comparison. I just dont understand why these three utes are here. I mean obviously the $90k plus ute will be better than the $60k navarra.
    What was the exact process in selecting these 3 specific utes? Why was the SL warrior chosen over the Ntrek warrior? Shouldn't the Hilux Rogue be compared with the Ranger Wildtrak? This video is weird and the Judges have the easiest decision to make when your comparing $90k plus utes against $60k utes.

      Absolutely crazy and when I was saying they were too expensive, the price of a luxury German vehicle, people were criticising me. To be clear, the people wanting to buy the vehicle were defending the price. The mental acuity of Australians is the sole reason why we pay what we do for vehicles here.

    Just wish the raptor also had the v6 diesel as option. I know some peeps love the noise of a V6 petrol, fast acceleration but many like me would rather take the low down grunt of a the diesel to just quietly crawl my way though rough terrain or do some work when needed. Not to mention fuel consumption :(

    • @tersy9862
      @tersy9862 Рік тому

      Have a look at car experts review the petrol V6 smashed the diesels. Rock crawling is all about gear ratios. Your feel consumption point is valid but diesel is also more expensive than petrol at the moment

    Good video, but I don't think this was an "apples-to-apples" comparison, as others here have stated. The Raptor was always going to stand out since it's basically a different class of bakkie/ ute. It would've made more sense to compare it against something like a Gladiator

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  Рік тому

      For Car of the Year we pick the best offering from each brand, yes the SL Warrior had a big price difference with the Ford but that gave it extra points in our criteria. Also last year the old Ranger Raptor beat the Gladiator so with no major update it didn't make the cut for testing this year.

      Drive Car of the Year focusses on vehicles that are new up significantly updated within the last 12 months (plus previous year's winners when there is one, return to defend their title). Gladiator has been included in previous years, but has been knocked out, hence why it didn't feature this year.

    I find it ironic that the last-placed Navara is probably the most likely to be found Off-Road and the other two are least likely to leave the city because of how much they cost and the personalities of their owners.

    With all these comparisons there is never a mention of the availability of after market service and parts and dealer networks. A very important consideration if you are travelling around Australia or in remote parts of Australia. My point being, you can have the best Ute in the market but if you can't get parts and service it's a usless purchase.

      @Drivecomau  Рік тому

      It terms of factory serving and part Toyota sits above Ford and Nissan specially in more remote areas. But we are testing these vehicles specifically as factory standard off-roaders not in regard to what the after market may or may not do. - Trent

    Towing limitations is a killer and reduced carrying limitations make it a no go as most offroad is about getting out there and enjoy the outdoors. Which means towing a Van or a camping trailer. With a fitted out tray. The reduction in load carrying also limits use for Farmers and tradesman sorry but this is a bad comparison drive.

    Interesting review and the winner I predicted when I saw the thumbnail, no real context compared with other car review I watched recently as that was more informative and comprehensive. This review is predictable and boring and I think you guys will have to up your game as you basically have one off-road specialist carrying the channel.

      For Drive Car of the Year we focus on new or updated competitors in the class, and invite last year's winner back (where there is one) to defend its title. This comes from a culmination of the preceding year's testing, and what you see in each category are the finalists. During the year we'll have SUV and Ute Megatests for a full, comprehensive overview of the entire segment.

    On and on and on,what a load of baloney, it's all about the raptor, how about comparing apples with apples or factor in the $30 000 more than the sl nissan warrior.
    It,the raptor can't carry or tow as much and a whole lot less than the Toyota rouge, also less leg room in the rear ,don't forget $20 000 more than the rouge.
    The raptor has a narrow band width of use. The rouge is the winner 👍👍👍

      Yeah I drove both. I got hunting, and do a bit of snow work, little bit of sand. I ordered the raptor. It shits all over it. Unless your hauling a van around Aus, then I probably would have got a platinum with the v6 td. And I’m a Toyota man. Be interesting to see the new Hilux.
