Hey, everybody. Welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the PTC custom fit air cabin filter on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Now, as you can see, this is a new filter we're gonna be in have in here. And once you pulled the other guy out you're gonna see some pretty noticeable differences. Now, the thing to keep in mind with these air filters, you know, you definitely wanna keep them replaced about every at least once a year.
You are getting a lot of air flow through those. So that's gonna be collecting dust, pollen, a lot of those allergens and still a lot nasty stuff in there. So let's go ahead and start taking it out. See what we got to do. I'm gonna go ahead and drop inside our passenger side here and actually against this side panel there is just a little plastic strip.
We wanna go ahead and start popping out. See there's some little pull tabs here. You just go ahead and pop these, like so. You can see them right there. Go ahead and pop those guys out.
Get this door set off to our side. Now on the back here is actually with where our tray is gonna be and our door latch that we need to take off. You can see there's just a little plastic tab here and there's gonna be a little plastic tab at the top. So let me go ahead, throw myself in here and get that door open. All righty.
So it looks like we actually want to pull this plastic tab down, like so, that's gonna open that door, like you can see. So you can see where my index is, pulling that down, like so, and pushing at the top there. It's gonna go ahead and remove that door. So you can see where they say it should latch into that static latch is gonna be staying on the bop there. And we actually just gonna pull this plastic tab up. Now be careful, these are pretty thin. So you can see are starting to get a little tear wear and tear on this guy. So definitely want to be gentle with those guys as we pull them off. And then we can come in here. Let me go ahead and get a quick look at that air flow. Well, it looks like this one might've been installed incorrectly but I do know that their airflow is coming in this way. So when we get to replace our filter make sure that we have that the right way. Go ahead and get that guy tucked up and away. Now that we actually have it out of here you can see a little bit of pollen buildup inside there. It looks like this guy hasn't really changed it not too long ago. So you can definitely be a little too proactive with these sometimes. However, it's never a bad idea to check it. See if you need to get a replacement you can see a lot of that pollen building up and definitely getting that out of there. It's gonna help us in the long run. I've seen a lot of these get way worse. So you can kinda see compared to our new one. We're not getting any of those particulates in there at all. Now, when we did pull this out it was facing, like so. Sorry about that guys. So when I pulled it out our air flow is pointing that we're coming from outside in, like so. We make sure that our air flow on this guy also matches. So make sure we we're inserting it like that. And to reinserted it, we're just keeping it at the same position. And now this can be a little hard to see, you guys, but up in here, we will be able to find your hand. You're gonna feel the top and feel the bottom makes this way easier. So I like kind of just getting that top started a little bit. Coming on the underside here and kind of slide it up that slot, like so, and then as you can see that's gonna help you align that bottom one. So at the top there becoming an easy section to fit. Kind of get a corner in, slide it up and then we can slide our bottom one in. Now we can just simply kind of add pressure to the top and the bottom until we can walk that all the way in and now we're installed. And another easy way to check our air flow. As you can see, we do have an arrow indicating on the door latch here. So we want to go ahead and replace this bottom section, like so. Getting it set right there. Walking up that top. Making sure that latch holds itself and pushing on the bottom end to hold that tray in. 'Cause you can see gonna do a good job holding that tray. And then we can go ahead and replace our paneling. Can be a little easy, just to line up that bottom corner. Can you see these white tabs gonna be lining up with those holders, like so. Getting those tabs pressed in, like so. You can kinda see getting that panel out of the way for you, can be helping and then re-adding that paneling in the back. It's gonna hold it in nicely for us. Well again, it's a very simple way to start making our cabin air flow th
