I know this a whole year late, but maybe this'll help someone else: hitting Nue when its stomach is glowing depletes all its Ki in one hit; then, like any other Yokai type enemy in the game, it loses all its 'poise' and can be interrupted by all player attacks, essentially making it 'free-to-hit' till it regains Ki. The best strat is to wait for it to do its charge up lightning beam (breathes lightning from its mouth) attack, run up to its left flank and hit it in the midst of it. Instant Ki depletion - rinse and repeat. :)
just watch out for the roar that regenerates it's whole ki it's instantly followed by 2 lightning strikes at it's feet so be realy to double dodge instantly
I'm late to the party, but I actually played this game using mouse and keyboard lol but I bound the control schemes based on the games I played prior (and due to manipulating what the devs did to port this on PC) I basically used Z, X, and C for stance changes (similar to DMC4/5 style changes for Dante), which is a nice feature added to the PC port. Left click for regular attacks, Right Click for block (based on Sekiro), E for Ki Pulse (based off Exceed system of Nero in DMC4/5), Shift/Middle Click for strong attacks, space bar for dashes/sprinting, Alt + right click for ranged weapons, Q and R for weapon changing, etc. i.e. for me the game was playable with this setup
Tonfa has really good final blows in the stage before the enemy falls to the ground, like when they are on their knees^^ it's RIDICOLUS at later levels :D
Hey hey. Well got the game to PC a few days ago, And doing great (for me) with KB/M. But after listen to you, I try to use a Xbox One controller, And yes, it feel better. As i never really use a controller. I have a very hard time Aiming, Do you set sensitivity up/down for that ? And how do you control the running and moving the Camera the same time ? Well i hold A for running, So it is hard to control the stick for Camera at the same time. Do you bind the Run button to LB - LT - RB - RT ? Sorry for asking this, But damn hard to get use to a controller man !!! Thanks for some great videos man. As i dont have a Console; I have to wait and see when Nioh 2 come to Pc. (I want more. Ha ha) Kindly.
For me whenever I need to run and control the camera at the same time I use a kind of claw grip. So basically index finger for the run button(default bind) and thumb foe the analog to control the camera. But tbh I rarely control the camera in this game. I mostly stick to locking on and dodging with A. I'm a noob that just started 3 days a go :)

Still getting use to the running with controller and not have the same control of my view around me, As KB/M have giving me. It is a bit hard with Controller, Special when i "panic" ha ha. And i simple use my mouse for aiming, Controller i am to slow to aim and hit with... But i am pretty happy i stay with Controller, As i can see how good it works, And much faster, Well for me. I accidentally did the Twilight Cave mission right after the main mission and that stupid boss ate my lunch. Had to farm a ton in there to get better equipment and stats to wear it just so I could beat her. I spent forever in the late part of that level because I didn't have a branch to take me out and I refused to lose anything haha.
I know this is older but may I ask if there is a detailed walkthrough of Nioh on your channel? And if not is it to late to ask for one? I know your super busy but for some reason your guides help me more than others out there.
If you haven't picked it up yet. I run it without any of the extra stuff that you can select when running the launcher and my i5 gets maxed out and my 8GB ram gets slammed .
Some people say that they prefer to play souls-like games with keyboard+mouse, I don't know how they do. There's only one thing a mouse do better than a controller in this game : aiming with a bow or a matchlock. Keyboard+mouse are really good for strategy games, and ok for other types of games, except fighting games, racing games, and souls like, where a controller is better in my opinion.

I have never been able to understand "its not m+kb friendly" as someone who doesnt play on a pad at all dont like them.. There is no game in the world that isnt kb+m friendly. They're just buttons you press like every game I play mmos which require every key to be binded including shift keys and alt keys so i guess my advice is if you want to play pc just learn how to use KB+M and every game is perfectly fine on them. I havent played on a console pad since maybe ps2 having to combo keys is more annoying than having a key for everything
You need to understand that this game literally released with almost zero M+KB support. Like, no customization, here's your buttons, tough shit deal with it.
Yeah idk why anyone who want to play almost any fighting game without a controller. Especially with as difficult as I like my fighting games. People can do what they want but I would never attempt it with mouse n keyboard
Does anyone else have the problem of the bosses being damage sponges? I primarily play dex weapons which work fine against regular enemies and Yokai throughout the level. But once I get to the bosses, the weapons do pitiful damage. I get that dex weapons are faster but less damage but it feels like every boss is a marathon like fighting Midir or Gael. I'm only on boss 2 so it might be early on still. Any tips?
you should watch some tip vids about the game. The magic system and buffing weapons with certain element types really make a big big difference in this game. you kind of are going to have to work in this system for the beginning of the game. instead of just a raw strength build like Dark souls being able to bulldoze early enemies. after you level up a bunch you can repec to a more high DPS build in regards to melee.
i struggled alot early on as well.. just learning different combos and getting better with the mechanics helps alot.. also getting elemental effects on ur weapons and learning the better samurai skills will also help alot.. it took me a lil while to put it all together and start to strengthen my build.. also finding armor and weapons with good abilities helps alot.. for example like finding numerous pieces that stack to make ur guy cause alot of ki damage will help u destroy an enemies ki more often.. or finding pieces that reduce ur ki consumption will allow u to attack almost nonstop..
I know this is going to sound funny: but I can play The Witcher 3 just fine and love doing so, BUT I simply cannot play Nioh, as in I can't even get out of the tutorial mission to move on to the main game in Japan. What the frick is the secret to playing Nioh? I love samurai and ninja games and movies and REALLY want to play this game for all the crazy amounts of loot you get too!! Any help would be appreciated!!
Moraktion Gaming play it like every enemy you fight is a fiend or a vampire enemy type. Slash dodge slash dodge. Also make sure you practice your ki pulses to gain stamina back after a combo

Ya, the problem is I'm on vacation right now and left my controller at home. I brought my gaming laptop but don't have a controller to use. I actually found a program to use though, makes Nioh playable with keyboard and mouse. It's not ideal, but it'll work for now I guess.
Dude seriously...Waaaahh!!! At 58:20!!! Man! REMAPPING IS A THING!!! Goddammit :D You can remap the keys for keyboard+mouse as you deem fit! That means you don't need to hit any kind of arrows on the fly while holding shift... [SPACE] does KI pulse for example, so [SPACE]+MBx is a stance change. But this is just one example. This game doesn't need more fingerwork than Battlefield, considering you play both games using a good mouse and some extra buttons for quicktools. That's it. If you can't handle this, you should better stick to controllers in _any other case_ as well... Man, you're making me crazy with these bs arguments.
I was fighting that vampire witch chick for hours and couldnt bear her and took 2 days off because my sodium levels were high. Finally I killed her and decided that she was the final boss for me and deleted the game. #gotgud

Seriously? Wtf was this argument around 51:00? You act like a console peasant...do you realise that there are mice with several programmable buttons, softwares you can input macros if you will, etc? I'd rather die than using a controller to aim...it's the most miserable sight in all gameplays. It is perfectly fine with k+m. If a StarCraft player can have hundreds of inputs per minute then it is suitable for Nioh as well. And for DS1-3. And all kinds of games, except driving and games like mortal kombat. But for Nioh it is all good.
58:54 im just gon put this right here...yeah u might have some probs at the beginning with this sort of games with controls,might be sloppy, but when muscle memory kicks in after 45min-1hr it's all good...i could never change minor mouse adjustments for liner controller movement no matter how many buttons i need to press on keyboard for that THIS + THIS + THIS stuff, you literally can't run out of buttons..for example that stance change i have some G keyes under Space so it's instant..only thing that could be weird and uncomfortable is if mouse movement is like NieR Automata, but u get used to it and still enjoy the game (remember Resident Evil 4 ONLY KEYBOARD :D that was bad port,but u can still beat the game)

There is not because of randomized loot and the high variety in playstyles. It's be like doing a walkthrough of Diablo.

Ya, the problem is I'm on vacation right now and left my controller at home. I brought my gaming laptop but don't have a controller to use. I actually found a program to use though, makes Nioh playable with keyboard and mouse. It's not ideal, but it'll work for now I guess.

Dude seriously...Waaaahh!!! At 58:20!!! Man! REMAPPING IS A THING!!! Goddammit :D You can remap the keys for keyboard+mouse as you deem fit! That means you don't need to hit any kind of arrows on the fly while holding shift...
[SPACE] does KI pulse for example, so [SPACE]+MBx is a stance change. But this is just one example. This game doesn't need more fingerwork than Battlefield, considering you play both games using a good mouse and some extra buttons for quicktools. That's it. If you can't handle this, you should better stick to controllers in _any other case_ as well...

I was fighting that vampire witch chick for hours and couldnt bear her and took 2 days off because my sodium levels were high. Finally I killed her and decided that she was the final boss for me and deleted the game. #gotgud
Omnia Obscuratur lmao that sucks man.. i struggled alot as well when i 1st started playing but all the sudden 1 day the mechanics just clicked for me.. im happy i kept playing cuz i went on to really enjoy the game.. u should maybe give it another try some day
Go back to Nioh give it another try if u allready haven't it's one amazing game 😃 if I can do it I'm certain u can as my skills are crap and I'm on ng+ now 😁 lol

Seriously? Wtf was this argument around 51:00? You act like a console peasant...do you realise that there are mice with several programmable buttons, softwares you can input macros if you will, etc? I'd rather die than using a controller to aim...it's the most miserable sight in all gameplays. It is perfectly fine with k+m. If a StarCraft player can have hundreds of inputs per minute then it is suitable for Nioh as well. And for DS1-3. And all kinds of games, except driving and games like mortal kombat. But for Nioh it is all good.
Nioh is objectively better with a controller, this isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

58:54 im just gon put this right here...yeah u might have some probs at the beginning with this sort of games with controls,might be sloppy, but when muscle memory kicks in after 45min-1hr it's all good...i could never change minor mouse adjustments for liner controller movement no matter how many buttons i need to press on keyboard for that THIS + THIS + THIS stuff, you literally can't run out of buttons..for example that stance change i have some G keyes under Space so it's instant..only thing that could be weird and uncomfortable is if mouse movement is like NieR Automata, but u get used to it and still enjoy the game (remember Resident Evil 4 ONLY KEYBOARD :D that was bad port,but u can still beat the game)
Oh this game again, I still think that this game is horrible objectively. The fact that you spend 60hrs killing the same enemies over and over again with same combos, not only that but this game lacks even a decent storyline and characters, the level/world design are pretty much non existent . Can someone love this game more than the others? Yes, but objectively this game is trash.
