This dude one day decided to make his entire channel about my childhood memories. Played the shit out of AoE3 and expansions. Love each and every one If em.
When I asked myself what kind of videos I wanted to make I figured out I'd like to make videos that I would watch myself and so I did. Makes me very happy to see how many people share my enjoyment of these games.
In a way, AoE 3's campaign can be considered an attempt to apply what was learned from Fall of the Trident (an original protagonist interacting with all the stuff everyone's actually there for) to a historical setting instead of a mythological one. And I definitely enjoyed said campaign when I played AoE 3.
It makes sense because when AoE 3 was being made the devs wanted it to be a separate entry from the "Age of Empires" series, much like Age of Mythology was. That's why it changed so much of the tested formula of AoE 2. Some like it, some dont, I love the hell out of it.
The cannons in this game were heavenly This was my first AoE game. I was only like 10 and I remember seeing an ad for this game on TV and I begged my parents to get it. the graphics card in that old family PC was pushed so hard that any navel combat dropped the frames to 1fps or worse and the water was a black, textureless void. but I LOVED it.
@@connorkilgour3374 I will always remember that act 2 mission with Washington and his ships. That thing lagged my old pc so much. I'm glad there are others that experienced that
@@Cifer4444 Oh god not the water mission ! I had to send my ship to battle without looking or the game slowed to DECIMAL FPS. Any mission that opened on a ship fight was torture as I had to wait upward of 5-10 min before I could actually play. At least it didn't crash
Popularity is never a measure of quality. AoE 3 is far more diverse and deeper than AoE 2 can ever be. This is one of the biggest reasons it has a lower player base. People just don't want to learn a complex game.
I am more of an AoE4 guy myself, but AoE3 is always will be something special for me and I'm happy that it is experiencing revitalization with new content and players. I have only one issue with the Definitive edition - modern transparent UI is such a downgrade from the old and cozy classic one.
Memes aside... Age of Empires 3 will always be my favourite Age of game and will always have a special place in my heart. A lot of charm, interesting nations that have vastly different units and great Black Family campaigns. Card system that brought great replayability. Still playing it today and some unit models and physics in game impress me up to this day. Sahim has more character development than some AAA slop games from 2024.
when i first played aoe3, my pc would not render the destruction of buildings not ships. They just faded out of existence and left ruins.png on its place.
SO I WATCHED IT finally, and it made me laugh a lot. I am having a bittersweet christmas, so I really needed it. You have talent, my man, I wish these videos would never end!! They are my comfort vids now lol. Again, amazing job dude! ❤
The hoop thrower in the campaign used to be much worst but since they are a until for malta in the multiplayer mod thier stats also changed here , and in the campaign and if you sometimes choose the unknown map in the MP the hoops thrower are different from the maltese one if i remember
Another win for AoE 3 over AoE 2 is that the civilizations really feels different both visually and mechanically, they put more work to create units that make sense in a civilization and fits a certain role that other civs also have rather than all civs having common units like in AoE 2. And of course there are some exceptions for balancing reasons.
I'm also of the belief that AoE 3's civs are more fun but harder to balanced, so as I'm not a pro player that's a win for me, but I often find myself watching and enjoying competetive aoe2 while enjoying pretty much anything from aoe3
@Cifer4444 Yeah, fun is the most important of the game. Civ like Britain is broken in early-mid game cuz of free settler per manor. But the real reason i choose the civ is so i can have an army with maxed out redcoats and grenadier with grenade launchers. Also few cavalry to intercept artilleries of course.
@@Pegasuz1233 I remember doing the revolt with the British and then using the card that spawned a settler for every manor, so many cool and unique strats across all the civs in aoe 3
I plan on making videos for the Dlc campaigns as well, and SevenTePe is someone I watched for a long time and like quite a lot, he even comented on one of my videos if I can brag :)

@@Cifer4444 Basically chip damage at long distance to soften up enemies for the rest of your units ,then? ...I should probably look into DE one of these days and see what else is an option there.
@@TARDISES One useful thing I found is that Ai really wants to target whatever shot at it first, so often when you agro a group of enemies they will try and get to the mortars and just get mowed down by your other stuff.
That happens a few times during more peaceful times with all religions, ottomons have had christians living under their rule a few times as well as spain-italy when they gained territory during the (second? third?) crusades (I forget which one.) where various pushes into the far-east elicited results. It *does* result in issues down the line. Every time. West coast north american tribes did some gnarly stuff too, once they "get civilized" it changes the dynamics rapidly, and doubly so with science advances to help waive old traditions such as sacrifices for rain and prosperity.
@@kesiazezebajki1982 I think they wanted to put more weight on the line "it would take several years for lizzie to forgive morgan about the gold" which imo makes sense, but to not shake hands with a guy you just went trough a battle seems stupid (sahin chad)

Also the vanilla campaign is not interesting idgaf about the black family and their ripoff assassin's creed storyline. The asian dynasties is kinda OK though but somehow every scenario just missing something that aoe2 has that being the scale and the pacing
