  • The German watch brand Laco has brought back the models "Cuxhaven" and "Bremerhaven", inspired by pocket watches in use of the German Navies during World War 1 and World War 2.
These are not re-issues but modern interpretations, soaked with tradition, but built from high-end components and powered by Swiss made hand wound movements. Learn more about all specifications in this watch review.

Dear Santa please bring me a Laco Bremerhaven for Christmas. I have been a good boy, just ask Tim.😀 Lovely watches and, as usual, great video. Have a happy Christmas. 👍

Bro that Laco looks amazing on the dark brown leather strap! Great video. Thanks!

I have both the first generation Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven pieces, they are at the upper limit of what my wrist can bear in terms of size but absolutely agree regarding their quality and beauty

A couple of days ago I thought: OK. I'm done buying watches for the rest of 2023.…..
And then I spot this video featuring the Laco Cuxhaven... Dammit!

Great watches. The Bremerhaven looks like what Laco would have produced in the fictional world where they were asked to supply 'dirty dozen' watches. A gorgeous piece. I have a Laco Kempton and love it - quality watches at a fair price.

Hola Tim, caught you on Teddy Baldassarre's holiday show - you are a truly the classy guy and that timepiece is exquisite.

I would love to see a solid silver dial option, black printed numerals, and non-lumed heat blued hands, perhaps with a different German harbor town’s name (Wilhelmshaven?)

I probably prefer the white Cuxhaven, and indeed a good strap on it too, and that movement is really a pleasure to admire, which so very often I don't find convincingly the case in this price range. That said, it is undeniably too big and probably too white ultimately for my taste and I agree that I would expect more from a case at this price and from such an established manufacturer. I am really starting to develop a bit of an aversion for vertically rising side cases. Occasionally an element of this is interesting and it can be beautifully finished or offer contrast, but a vertical rise also feels like lazy watch design and is pervasive among budget pieces and many microbrands.

Very attractive watches and movements. However, I really do believe they made a mistake in not doing real enamel

I like the version DEKLA makes better.
Maybe you should get one of those in and do a comparison.😉

I like the looks of Stowa and Laco and their prices. Does anyone else think that watches such as Longines are getting too expensive?

    • @waterfordrs22

Longines is arguably offering more at those higher prices. They are targeting a market that Tudor had all to itself for quite sometime. So yes, SWATCH is positioning them upmarket, those watches have more going on. Whether or not they are worth 3K or more, that’s always a position that can be argued.

I don't see the value personally, it's just paying for the laco name. There are no premium finishes, no interesting design features, this is just the sum of its parts and it's name.

@@IDKline I've seen microbrands use the same movement with more complex cases with better finishing for around £7-800 so you are essentially paying £400 for the name
