It's too happy to be sad and too sad to be happy and-- guys, I think this one broke me 🤣 But it's fantastic. That bass is pure joy, and so is the way all the vocal layers play off each other and then come together. You make "skillful and intricate" sound natural and playful.
they turned a bitter breakup song into one of healing and regrowth - now THAT'S firkin brilliant.

Have you done a Ska version of something yet? I don't know too much about Ska but I identify it as a horn-heavy style with a lot of fun energy and improvisation. I think the first song I heard from that style was Reel Big Fish's "Hungry Like the Wolf" or "Somebody Hates Me" and I kinda imprinted on them.

I'm pleased that you didn't change "found a girl" to "found a boy". If you cover (or one covers) a song, you can be into boys for one song, whatever. You're covering a song, not changing your sexuality.
